Why doesn't Forced Penance have the Oblivious status effect?

After watching the dev streams and the recently released spotlight, they keep on saying that Forced Penance applies the oblivious status effect. However, the perk in game applies broken instead. Why was this changed? Applying the oblivious status effect to survivors taking protection hits is much more useful than broken as it keeps them paranoid about if you're chasing them or not while broken will either be useless if you chase them or a minor inconvenience if you don't. Plus the two other teachable perks have the theme of hiding your terror radius so Forced Penance is the odd one out of the three. If you wanted to keep the broken effect, why not let the perk apply both status effects. There are already perks that apply multiple status effects like Blood Echo and Sloppy Butcher. Does anyone else think the perk would be more useful if it applied oblivious?

  • Because they're probably mixing it up with Deathbound, which does apply Oblivious.

But not only did they say it applied oblivious on the 4th anniversary stream, they also said it again on the new spotlight for the next chapter. I doubt that they made the same mistake twice. It seems like it was intended to apply oblivious but was changed very late in development.

Look in the comments under that spotlight video, they said that it was a mistake.

I still think that Oblivious would be more useful than Broken.

But still, few days after the chapter drops no one will use that perk, so why bother.

  • I'm wondering if it's getting changed to Oblivious instead of Broken.

Sadly not, it was a mistake... :(

  • I don't know what's the point of making bad perks if they will need to buff them in the future...

Yeah I've made the point a lot on here that they keep adding killers and perks to the "list of needing reworks/buffs" faster than they can get to them in mid chapter patches. They are literally self inflicting their own problems and making the pile larger, faster than they can deal with it. If they would just listen to us and make them decent coming out of the PTB we wouldn't have to keep doing this back tracking every time.

Or maybe they could just listen to the feedback from the PTB, since that's the point of the PTB afterall...

EDIT: I just read your reply again and you already said that, my bad...

I made a post yesterday saying how the devs keep on adding more restrictions to perks so they aren't too powerful. However when the perk becomes too weak they don't make any effort to change and leave it in it's useless state for months. Stranger Things came out 9 months ago and not one of its perks were buffed since its launch.

You're right, but it's not only months, it's years, probably even from the games release, look at Monstrous Shrine or No Mither.

So many great ideas were thrown at them, but they are just not doing anything...

  • well perks arent important as cosmetics so yeah... they gotta release bilionth nea cosmetic right :) who cares that almost 80 % of perks on both sides are trash.. at least survivor side got 2 interesting perks in new chapter.. sigh...

i remember that the perk was always ment to be broken status effect. in the ptb at least. i dont know why ppl think the oblivious effect was intended

Because they said it two times and excuse me but broken and oblivious are such different states that it's hard to believe they confused it. And perhaps they made a mistake the first time, but making the same mistake twice in a short time it's hard to believe.
