My (simple) Idea to change Genspeed for good

Lore: How are those survivors even able to repair generators?

Killer: Gens are going to fast!

Survivor: Genspeed is fine / even too slow!

Problem: Gens are getting repaired really quick in the early game, simple because the killer can not pressure all the gens at the same time, the playfield is at the beginning huge and all defenses for survivors, naming pallets are up.

On the other side, in the late game, survivors struggle to repair the last generator(s), because pallets are gone, the playfield is significantly smaller and the Killer can patrol the remaining gens very easy.

My solution:

  • At the Start of a Trial, every survivor starts with 50% repairspeed (baseline we have now is 100%).
  • Per second he is repairing a generator, his repairspeed increases by 1%.
  • His maximum repairspeed can go up to 120% to compensate the weak early game.

Any thoughts about this idea?

Kind regards

I think it's interesting, but personally I'd just leave it as is right now. With a lot of maps being shrunk and weakened significantly, I believe this will have a big impact on how fast gens go now.

In my honest opiniton, the core problem of genspeed lies not in mapsizes, it is rather the inballance between early and lategame.

Many killers are not able to handle the stresslevel when suddenly after his first chase, 2 gens are poping right away. Changing size of the map does not fix this problem at all.

With my idea i want to ballance genspeed a bit more, so gens are getting equaly fast finished throughout the whole game.

  • the only way to fix gen speeds is to give survivors more than one primary objectives. survivors dont have to interact with the killer at all to escape but killers HAVE to interact with survivors to "win" be it getting 0-4k and getting anything except entity displeased. if survivors had a thrill bar that was basically an end game emblem system it would do a LOT of good. it's simple a survivor can't leave if they haven't put on a good enough show even if the gates are open. then this helps give a plausible reason for keys/hatch other than being a cheap escape. it turns it into a survivors last ditch effort to escape the trial after failing to perform and since the chance of finding hatch is slim asf it's balanced.
