InstaMori addons from The Shape. How do they work?

It looks so inconsistent to me. Sometime i reach tier 3 but he doesnt Mori, only instaDown as usual. And sometimes he does instaMori. But why not aways or how do I instaMori aways?

    I just had an entire match with tombstone and all hits with tier 3 were an instaDown instead of an instaMori... what am i doig wrong? Is there a special condition to Mori with the addons beyond reaching tier 3?

    You need to get close to them (Within attacking without lunging distance) then you'll get a prompt. When you see the prompt, click and it'll begin the execution animation immediately. Be careful, if for some reason the game thinks you'd need to lunge to hit it'll only attack and not mori.


    Edit: They have to be running, not down. It's literally an insta-mori, it can be done midchase.

    You need to be within a few feet of a Survivor to get the "Kill" prompt to show up, once that prompt shows up THAN you can press and hold down M1 to initiate the mori.

    If you already did this, than please let me know. This is the only way to "Tombstone Mori" someone, you can't just Mori them without that prompt showing up.
