Surveillance + Surge/Ruin = Tons of information and some generator slowdown

So some streamers and twitch players have brought this up as well, but for those who may not be aware, Surveillance has incredibly synergy with both Surge and the new Hex: Ruin.

When running Surge/Surveillance, every time you down survivors with an M1 (Wraith, Clown, Legion, etc.) you regress all generators in your terror radius, this also highlights any regressing generators in white to let you know they are regressing. If anyone returns to work on these generators you will know due to the highlight. You can also combine this with Pop goes the weasel and still get a strong regression kick on any generators you didn't happen to hit with surge.

When running Surveillance with the new Hex: Ruin, any time you get survivors off gens they instantly start regressing at a 200% rate and are highlighted through surveillance meaning again, if they return it will highlight and you can return to the generator confident that a survivor is there. Sadly this combination does not play well with Pop goes the weasel as Hex: Ruin will automatically start regressing generators meaning you can't kick them until the totem is cleansed, if it is cleansed.

The Ruin/Surveillance combo seems to work best on killers who have stronger map pressure (Hillbilly, Nurse, etc.) as they can see if the generator turns white as they approach meaning a survivor just got off it. By pressuring multiple generators, you can now use surveillance to stuff survivors at each turn every time they try to return to a generator.

This combo still doesn't solve the problem of generator speeds when survivors are on the generators, but it can buy you quite a bit of time as well as provide a metric ton of information. Oh and Surveillance with a good 3-gen will make survivors want to tear their hair out, or go look for a key if they don't have one already.

  • Does surge actually stack with ruin? Because it can't regress something already regressing

No, I think he’s just saying use one or the other

  • That or use Surge as a backup against Ruin's cleansing, though that may be too redundant for using a third Perk Slot.

  • using multiple detection perks isnt my cup of tea

  • Wouldn’t recommend Surge, too situational (requires 3-gen strat) and there are other perks that do a similar job but are useful in more situations.

  • Ruin and Surveillance where "the thing" with my Oni P0. But i didnt get this again...... until now...
