Can Developer's create matches for people in similar age groups?

I guess this doesn't cross people's mind much who they play with but I was playing DBD and some people invited me into a group and it turns out they were young kids I'm in my 20's. And I strongly think that something needs to be put into place to protect the younger user's of DBD. So I think that maybe there needs to be age restrictions or people get matched in similar age groups to keep them protected because I sure as hell don't won't my kids to be online and unsafe to just chat to anyone and say anything. And honestly in 2019 you would think people would have safer things in place? Maybe it's just my mothering instincts kicking in but I think this need to change. So user's of DBD can we get this done?

  • ...That game is rated 18+, legally everyone is aware the game is violent, you cant do anything more, the devs arent going to monitor who took the account of their big sibling to play dbd in their back.

Pegi is meant to say "kids should not play it" if they still play it, there's nothing more you can do about it.

  • It's really sad if that's true it's not the game that is the problem per say I guess that is purely their parents decision. What I am more talking about is the fact that they can just talk to anybody any age freely that is not safe. We don't need younger kids talking to older men or women because let's face it parents aren't sitting there and watching the kids and what they are saying or doing. It kinda just seems more like common sense really to protect the younger user's of DBD because they are out there.

  • cant do anything more legally

the game is Pegi 18, if a kid still play it, the kid knows it's not their age, cant do anything more, it's like children on youtube, you tell them to not do videos until they are old enough to grasp how dangerous it can be, and how to protect themselves, but they still do it. The problem exists with EVERY pegi 18 game, GTA, CoD, probably Red Dead, there's always kids to play those games, and well, there's nothing the devs can do about it. It's not their responsability.

  • The game is rated 18+ - it's a parents responsibility to protect their children online! This is something that I feel very strongly about, people blame the internet, games etc whilst the parents allow their children to be online unrestricted and without proper supervision...Parents are the first and main line of defence and should imo be more vigilant with their children online!

  • I strongly disagree keeping kids safe is everyone's responsibility and they should have safety measures in place for all games all players and all people. All you need is enough people to back you and it will happen.

  • Parents definitely need to step up more because it is scary the standard some people have today they let kids do anything.

  • There is no way for Behavior to match on age group. why? they don't ask how old you are when you start playing or buy the game. NOW steam, playstation, Microsoft store, the store it's bought for the ps4/xbox are supposed to but some don't ask or you just lie and say you're over 18. OR it's purchased by or for someone 18 or older, and the kid plays it because there is no block for them to play it etc. Honestly it's a great idea but won't happen and honestly I've seen many kids playing better than the adults!

  • What you are suggesting is not feasible.

  • This game isn't meant for kids in the first place, as soon as you let your kid play it you signed a ticket for them to be allowed to do this

  • As Kagari and Mandy have already said, the game is 18+ (well, 17+ for me, but still). Therefore, they have no responsibility to protect kids who, realistically, SHOULDN'T EVEN BE PLAYING!

If you seriously think BHVR can do anything about the choice parents make to allow their kids to play these kinds of games, you are dead wrong.

If you want to say that about games, then you should say the same about movies. Do you seriously think that it's the producer's fault that parents bring their children to see R Rated movies? No! It's the parents. They can either pay attention and not bring their kids, or they can ignore it and face the consequences.

What you are suggesting is for BHVR to put in a age restriction system, but you know what could easily happen? Either the child gets on their parent's account, OR THEY LIE ABOUT THEIR AGE! The same thing could happen the other way around, with an especially creepy old dude lying about his age to play with children.

Besides, how would you make the age bracket? Change blood to colorful rainbows? Remove moris because of how violent they are? Remove the hooks and replace them with time out corners? The game is violent, and will always be violent. That's the nature of horror.

Blame the terrible parents, not the company that has no obligation because the rating SHOULD be enough.

  • even if there was settings for age groups... predators would find ways to circumvent this.

It's the parents who should be monitoring their child's activity online. not BHVRs

  • A system like this is impossible to implement as rhere is no indication that the person who is playing is below the age the game is aimed at if the person setting it up says theyvare 18.

The parents are the ones who put in the cc info on platforms for kids so they are the ones who show consent. At best these platforms steam, ps or me for example cpuld have better warnings for parents when setting up kids accounts and those accounts. These warning should show that they will be able to buy innapropriate games if they don't enable kids settings and if they do enable the settings it removes the option to buy or play games which are rated as adult ones.

The problem is a lot of parents just see it as a game and don't educate themselves on what it entails. The same ones who do this probably wont let them watch a movie which is aimed at rated at 18.
