Future Events

Something I would like to address between all those Threads about Spirit or the Cosmetics:

FUTURE EVENTS

Recently, we’ve changed the way we handle in-game events and wanted to take a moment to explain why we’re putting elaborate objectives on hold. Unique event objectives take a huge amount of time to create and test, taking up time that could be spent fixing bugs and creating new content that’s available year-round. Going forward, events will be focused around extra Bloodpoints (through Offerings and/or Blood Hunts), Archive challenges, and event-exclusive rewards within the free track of The Rift. This allows us to focus our efforts on game health, which we ultimately feel is for the best.

Please dont do it that way. The events dont feel like an event when they are only about extra Bloodpoints. If the Serum would be obtainable by doing Hooks and Gens in the Withering Blight Event, you would not have a second Objective to create, but you would actually get the Serum while playing in an event.

This years Halloween "Event" was no event, and future events will not feel like events either. Putting them in the free Track of the Rift also has the taste of letting the free track look way more filled than it actually is. Currently there is not much stuff in it, and I am fine with that, because people should have a reason to buy the Rift Pass. But let it look like more Items by simply putting Serum in them is kinda cheap in my opinion.

Dont get me wrong, I totally adore the Archives and the Rift, but Events would feel more unique and like actual events when they are not tied to the Rift.

  • So the next rift will very likely have have the next lunar/moonrise in the free track. After that Summer stuff maybe then back to the Halloween rift juice?

    Is that the idea? 🤔

It could indeed be that way.

  • I like it this way actually, would you rather an event riddled with bugs but have a new objective, or an event not riddled with bugs but no new objective

    cough lunar event cough

  • My interpretation of how they said the rest of the events would be was that they're going to be all quite boring from now on like the Withered Blight.

I could see the rational of putting that time more into game balance if many of the recent balance changes they had made weren't terrible.

  • It's a pity we won't have anymore interesting events, but understandable.

If you think about it, the harder tome challenges get, the more of an event they become. The big caveat is that they will just exacerbate certain sides of the gameplay that are already in place (e.g. rush gens, search chests, blind the killer...).

Considering all the critics bhvr received due to the past Blight Event being something unrelated to doing gens / surviving I can understand why they picked this road, even if I don't like it :(

    This.

And it's clear the players want something besides current generators. I'd be down to take all the effort they're not putting into events anymore and see it turn into an interesting and thought provoking objective that takes more than 2 brain cells to complete.
