Hey Pat! I updated the report as best I could! Hope it helps!
-
Also: "you shouldn't be prioritising healing over objectives when your teammates are desperate..."
That's the problem, is that I'm not. I'm running to unhook someone, while I'm injured & instead of unhooking them (as I intend to do), I start healing myself - because I have self-care.
It happened to me again today, I ran up, to heal a downed survivor in a pallet (who was at "find help") & instead of getting them up, I started self-caring on top of them & got downed by the killer.
BHVR PLEASE FIX THIS. Let me key bind self care to M3 or something PLEEEEEEEEEEEEASE!

Also, this was on PC, Steam.
We were able to recreate this issue multiple times in Custom Game.

"you can't trust randos to heal you" You're literally in a SWF, there are perks that make being injured totally fine (dead hard, iron will, etc.) Randoms will heal you, but you shouldn't be prioritising healing over objectives when your teammates are desperate, good players will ignore you and focus objectives if they know its not a good time to be healing, the entire reason people make fun of self care users is because they waste time selfishly healing themselves while their teammates risk being injured to work on the objective. I get your point but perks can sometimes come at a cost or don't synergise, for example any exhaustion perks, more than 1 and it a waste, or dead hard and any means necessary, sometimes your DH will be cancelled in favor of picking up a pallet leading to you getting downed. Just don't use SC in the first place, self care's entire purpose is to be selfish while BT is team based, unsurprisingly SC hinders your ability to help your teammates
I don't believe you caught the gist of my complaint at all.
The point isn't whether or not you should/shouldn't be running self care. The point is that a perk in the game that you CAN run is broken and f*cking up. Fix it.
Also, your response was written like a true gen jockey. I usually run the killer. I use self care to take care of myself in solo games BECAUSE randos won't heal you half the time. If my teammates aren't altruistic enough to heal me, so I can go out and keep running the killer while they hide and do gens, why the eff would I run BT for them?
Also key wording on your part, "...they waste time selfishly healing themselves while their teammates risk being injured to work on the objective..."
1) I wouldn't have to waste time healing myself if I was getting healed by my teammates, which takes HALF the time of a self-heal.
2) They're risking being injured. THEY'RE. RISKING. BEING. INJURED. If I'm injured & they're full health working on a gen, they're a dick for not healing me (unless the gen is about to pop) because they're afraid to get injured. Are you serious? I'm already injured and am one hit away from being downed/hooked. GTFOH with that BS ๐

& All this talk on nerfing BT. I know some toxic survivors run it to farm people off the hook before you can leave, but that is just as bad for survivors. I HATE when I get unhooked in front of the killer, right after being hooked. Like PLEASE give this guy some time to move away from my hook, maybe find/chase someone else. No one likes being farmed.
The best thing a survivor can do is let them hang for at least half their first phase, especially with the new ruin. We need to stay on gens more now, at least til ruin's taken out. The rest of us run borrowed when we're getting a ton of douchey camping a-holes.
So if you want BT nerfed, talk to your less talented counterparts about being more active in the game than babysitting hooks, because that's what BT is there for. They make perks not just to complicate the game, but to counter frustrating scenarios as well- so the game can be ENJOYABLE. & Being as the game is FOURvONE, yeah you bet the survivors voices are heard. There's 4 of them to every one of you. ๐ฏ

"Noed keeps it's function but with a slight condition which is nothing like what a real nerf would look like."
I think this is trying to change what the definition of a nerf is. You're referring to a "real" nerf. This isn't a thing, it's just a nerf. The perk would do the same thing, you're just adding a cooldown on it.
If i put a cooldown on BBQ that would be a nerf, not a rework. Same scenario.
"I don't understand why you'd not want to compromise to silence those begging for it to be removed from the game entirely."
I never said I didn't want to compromise. I actually said the total opposite.
I said that the perk needs to be changed to reward the killer for being skillful, not free downs for the survivors being lazy.
Just throwing a cooldown on it doesn't really add skill to the perk and it stilll retains all the problems that make it unhealthy.
Not being literal, but speaking in relation to a general idea here...I'd like something such as if all the totems weren't cleansed when the last gen is powered, 3 random gens will reactivate. It's basically making them do 1 extra gen if they don't do totems.
This essentially still allows the perk to retain its purpose of being "anti gen rush", but instead of giving him free kills for no skill, it gives him more time to make skillful plays.
Survivor main & omg yes.
I would die every time that last gen popped to see 3 more gens light up - BUT it would still be way more fair than a ######### killer camping the only hook they've managed to get the entire game & turning it into a 3/4k.
At that point it's still making killers work for their kills, but it also encourages survivors to do alternative objectives & thus slowing gen progress, or if survivors don't do totems, it punishes them & still slows gen progress.
I'd say this is the fairest "compromise" I've read on this thread yet. Well put. Bravo.

Nothing's wrong with the Franklin's. But people say don't bring self care, bring a medkit. But if the killer brings Franklin's, often times you're screwed on healing up when you need it.
I've started running Inner Strength, because it doesn't require you to "m1" to heal, but that's beside the point - I should be able to run self-care and still unhook a teammate when I'm trying to. ๐ฏ

Omg yaaaaassssss. So many times that locker vacuum has got me when looping the killer shack! ๐ฏ๐ ๐คทโโ๏ธ
Facing the window, closest to the window, but NO! turn me around and put me in the locker behind me to the side- fast and loud, so the killer knows it too! ๐๐

Most toxic?
Clown. Ghostface. Wraith.
In that order.
Least fun to play against?
Plague and Legion.
In my experience, Tum Tums aren't really toxic unless: you run them for 3/4 gens and they face camp you because they realized you're the only kill they're going to get (because they refused to give up on your chase until it was too late to) OR they're insidious, face-camping children - BUT that's usually because 1: they're meme-ing (here's looking at you basement guardians! ;) or 2: they have no skill as a killer and know they can't get a kill any other way.

Yes and no, It really depends on what you consider "winning" Because yes, my standard of playing the game may not always count it as a "win". The way I see it there are a few different ways people define a win.
- First you have the pipping/ranking/emblem system (which is horrible). If you look at then no pip is a loss, a black pip is a tie, one white pip is a win and 2 white pips is above and beyond. Using this example, I either tie or win with either a single or double pip more games than not.
- Second Method THE ***4k or No K Okay*** Method. I actually hate people that think they need to 4k every single game and that a killer should 4k every game. You're basically saying My side is the only side that should have fun, you are supposed to die every single game. This is about the only method I disagree with.
- Lastly you have the self defined, which is my personal favorite method. It lets you set the terms of what a win and loss in the game is. The games ranking and emblem system is such a joke, why care if the game says you won or loss?
I agree with this on a cellular level. If I run a tum tums for 3/4 gens (so well that he face camps me on my first hook) & I die, I take that as a win. ๐ฏ
Face-camping or tunneling only bothers me when I didn't earn it or do anything to deserve it. Killers take note: you'll get more GGs if you earn that face camp or tunnel, rather than doing it because you're not skilled at the game.

Playing better now than I did years ago isn't changing the meta. I'm literally doing the exact same thing, just doing it better.
90% of the killer roster is countered in almost the exact same way. This is why I advocate for killer design that makes each killer need to be played against differently. This is also why I like killers such as Nurse, Spirit and Huntress when I play survivor. They are some of the few killers that actually ask me to play differently than normal if I want to win. This design philosophy also keeps the game more fun as it makes each match more unique, like you are playing a different game even though there aren't different game modes.
"There are perks as survivor to counter killers perks but none to counter killer s power."
I actually disagree with this completely. Just one example is Sprint Burst. It counters stealth killers who try and sneak up on you for the first hit, like avoiding a Pig ambush.
Or distortion to counter Spoopy Myers or Calm Spirit to counter Doc's madness etc
-
Yes. If you play Claudette and run her self-care perk (or unlock the teachable to use on other survivors).
-
Also, as a survivor main, I can attest to the fact that the rank mismatching is a problem. Usually rank 5-9 & play swf.
We try hard against killers who are our ranks & feel good when we smash on them, but man - the feelbads when post-game chat comes up and we realize we just ruined the game for a rank 19 pleb.
This isn't the killer's or survivor's faults. It's on the devs & they're match making system. ๐ฏ
-
Easy solution: instead of pip based ranks, assign ranks based on devotion levels.
New players won't receive OP rank 1 killers with 4k+ hours in-game. ๐ฏ

A killer usually face-camps, because you did something that made them REALLY want you out of the game - (unless they're doing a Tome/Daily). I've always "waved my arms" as a way to "flex" on a face-camping killer.
If I'm playing solo & I'm not being camped, I won't "wave"- I will however try to kobe, just before second phase, IF (*shocker*) a rando doesn't come for the save. My arm-waving is rarely for the benefit of other survivors...
