  • Some people are growers and not showers. It's ok to have a small pp.

  • In a kill or be killed game, you chose the wrong side with the highest risk of failure as a solo que. I'm sure you had a frustrated time, but this is the game you qued up for and this is the forum you are posting in. Let this be a reminder to you that not everything is going to go according to plan or by how you would like it to be.

Especially in this game. The other day I saw a video of a hacker playing Ghostface, throwing Huntress axes, let that sink in.

Hello there. I try to Farm but the survivor refuse, they pre drop every pallet, make Gens and leave instand. Even If I Bodyblock and Nock my head they are still scared. What should I do?

Play Ghostface, spam crouch. It's the best.

  • If only they had a setting to where you can have post game chat muted, that would be a blessing :)

  • I like how playing with purpose, focus, or the intent to apply yourself is looked negatively in this game. It's frowned upon all of a sudden because the their experience is not "having a good time", so they lash out and try to make the other side of the field feel guilty? Where's the logic in that? It's like making someone feel bad that their mom packed them cookies for lunch, and you got carrots and celery. Don't be jealous. "hey you best me that game with your *insert strategy*, you played the game effectively, capitalized on my mistakes (or teams), good for you, now go f*ck yourself and take my verbal assault you bad person you!" - lol

Ask yourself this: "what's the point in playing a PvP game, with no purpose of getting better and applying yourself fully?" This isn't checkers son, this is DbD, welcome to the Killer Dome.

This is, in an essence, a competitive game- regardless of your thoughts or subjective feelings on the matter, objectively this game is competitive in nature. Escape or die. kill or forever be tbagged at the gates. "Try-harding" in a PvP game to win lol. Everyone complaining about that needs to grow up. Did you expect a "casual, left click and space bar experience"? With low stress? If you wanted that, go play afk arena/chess.

Both sides needs to stop complaining, crying, and trying to shame the other side of completing their objective in the game and stop throwing a fit when a game doesn't go their way. If you suffer from a game that you consider as a "loss", then learn to adapt and make self improvements. Don't just start blasting the other side. It's not going to help the community as a whole and looking for excuses is just so pathetic. (Not talking about bugs, cheats, and other nonsense we have seen from time to time)

Every PvP game is going to have a meta, every PvP game is going to have toxic players, every PvP game is going to make you feel great when you win, and sh*tty when you lose. That is the nature of PvP games. You know what you are playing when you log on and que for match.

Develop thick skin, or get your self-entitled ass out of my game :)

    Have a great day.

  • And what about the god loops out in wreckers Haven around the cars and junk with no breakable walls? Not the T walls and such, but literally the random ass God tier loops. I get what people are talking about the breakable walls; on both sides, but I think we can all agree that the removal of bloodlust on the weekend is not going to yield the data that the devs want. A.) People are not going to play as much and B.) People are going to play different killers to adapt; let's go gunslinger! People are not going to waste time playing what they enjoy to just to be kited around all day in a chase that just wont end for the devs to get better #s. For a game that has been our for 5 years now, I would have expected the devs to know better or do better analysis of perks, abilities and bloodlust. Oy vey 4head.

  • Lol the calm before the storm of people complaining this weekend

  • @Aneurysm said:

I know these issues are pretty much known to everyone but since starting to play on steam as well as ps4 you get a much better idea of what they're supposed to endure. Apart from a few matches where I've been matched with noobs I'm going against red and purple survivors with 1000s of hours, and full perk sets -which is fine with me, obviously a bit more engaging than killing beginners although ideally I'd have something a bit more to throw back at them apart from tier 1 spies and tier 1 bloodhound-

but how many new players drawn to the killer role are going to stick around if they're just going to be a punching bag match after match? I get that matchmaking is probably always going to be terrible, possibly even with MMR. But give new players something. A more advanced tutorial, a training area (everyone wants one and if you could try out new killers and perks there you'd probably increase sales), a warning or BP boost when their lobby is full of reds, a way to unlock some free perks from the shrine, idk but you should give them something.

Yeah there's a curve. You need thick skin, and you need to endure alot of "abuse" but once you get the hang of it and get the perks it only gets better. That's the toughest part for me as a killer; lacking the perks. I am able to keep my head up knowing that every game is going to just help me with fundamentals and also the raw experience helps. I've only been playing for a little over a month now and hit rank 3 before the season ended. I was winning games but not scoring well with pips, so that is another challenge for me to overcome. The game can be rewarding as well as a feelsbad but that's the nature of the beast. I feel that, as a newer player, I faced that fork in the road early: do I endure and go through this struggle and misery, or do I quit and move on? Nothing is worst than wasting time I feel nowadays, so I gave it a few days to break and think about it. I picked it back up and have the right mindset now so I'm numb now to getting gen rushed, or trolled, or held hostage or any of those things. I see the top ranked killers on stream and YouTube and understand that I can be among them as long as I keep my focus and enjoy myself. Alot of people, new players too in any game, feel that pressure from not only learning but also just getting stomped (on both sides) the worst thing to do is feel rushed to get better and have to do better right away. I feel that the skillcap in this game is much higher than it looks. I have faced meta perks with no issues now because I learned to adapt and make slugging a thing; sh*tty of me to the community but I am the killer- I will use the tools and the mechanics to my benefit as every SWF red rank 1 try hard team I have faced. And that's not meant to be a diss, on the contrary, they worked their asses off to earn and unlock those perks and they know damn well what they are doing, it's only fair to myself that I play the same.

What's helped me the most as a new killer, besides youtube content, has been to ignore post game chat. I say my GGs and move onto the next game.

So, to keep it short; the killer isn't straight face camping but they're terror radius camping. Its like they won't face camp you, but they won't let you out of their terror radius.

For the record, this isn't a strat; it's a crutch, muchlike NOED. This usually leads to tunneling, Slugging, and or straight face camping when the killer fails. I don't know why people call it a strat to win if you have to resort to camping yo get a kill; it's lowkey pathetic if you have to resort to that. It's not every day that I see people tunneling, face camping, or just going so low just to get a kill but its the ones who do that get really get me.

Usually, I see that in lower ranks and that's very often. I haven't been running into NOED often but I HAVE been running into campers and tunnelers. For the record, it doesn't make you any less of a bad killer if you have to resort to camping and tunneling to get your precious 4k; and no, again, it's not a strategy to win, it's a crutch.

A strategy is a plan something THAT you think up and roll out. To getting a better definition; this is what the dictionary says.

Strategy - Noun - a plan of action or policy designed to achieve a major or overall aim.

Camping does NOT fall under this pretext because you didn't plan it out, you just said "Okay, so I suck or I want my 4k so I'll resort to just making the game unfun for everyone and get what I want." That's right, I'm calling ya out on it. So, don't try to call it a strat.

Back to my main focus, Terror Camping. Yeah, so this lowkey ain't really fun for many because if you don't have deliverance; you're screwed. It basically says "That's right, I'm camping and i'll slug you if you Come any closer." This apparently works out with killers like myers, ghost face and stealth killers in general. This leads to the survivor being put in the second phase, The team rushing the killer, the survivor gets tunneled and it's an easy kill for the killer; again, not a strat, it's a crutch. I've seen people DC from this either because that killer is tunneling them and has a Mori, or because they were basically tunneled the whole game. *Not fun.* Can we work to avoid doing this?

I'm so confused, did you have a bad match? Did your other survivors not come and get you since the killer was nearby?

You made a long post and with alot of detail but I'm not finding why a terror radius near your location is a bad thing. There are so many other factors to consider, such as gen location nearest you, maybe the killer is hunting people nearest you, maybe the killer's mom cook them up some chicken nuggets and they can only play with one hand. Like we don't know what is going on lol

Think we should just have like 3 variations of the same map for each map and they be set in stone and not be RNG based on how things spawn. I think the game's balance could go way further and the game be more fun for both sides when you know for sure what tiles and objects have spawned versus having to guess or hope certain things have or have not spawned.

I assume it'd help with perk balance to some degree as well but not too sure. Though I can say not running meta perks while playing solo is nightmarish. As fun as this game is if you're not SWF you can give up using anything that isn't DS Adrenaline DH and whatever your last perk is because you can be unfortunate to get a camping or tunneling killer and if you don't have those few perks you die for free and you can also just get other survivors that do nothing out of fear or stupidity and play immersed and still get caught and die in the end because they probably can't loop either.

As for playing killer its about the same you can't ever just have fun with some niche perks because you get gen rushed depending on the killer because you naturally can't create the pressure needed. You can't win games without either potato survivors or using some form of generator slow perk, maybe something for healing speed and then a perk for chasing or a perk for finding them. Typically we all just use ruin plus corrupt or undying these days. The game's balance shouldn't be focused on these select perks for either side. The map balance needs to be better or the perk balance needs to get better its honestly a bit pathetic that so few perks in this game are actually viable. All of these new perks we get for synergy are usually average at best and still are nowhere near as useful as the survivors ones listed not including the builds around Soul guard which still only help the top survivors and then the killer builds that use either BBQ or Thrilling tremors to find survivors and then ruin with undying and whatever your last perk be. These things need to change as great as this game is its extremely nerve wrecking to always have to use meta if you wanna get anywhere without playing with some friends

Ironically I am always getting cornfield and wreckers Haven. I barely get anything else lol

  • DS is fine. Eat it early, or slug them until it's deactivated. It's not that hard to do either option and this is something you all should be doing as killers anyways. Works for all ranks as well. Prepare for it, anticipate if and plan ahead for it. Use that noodle.

I'm trying to learn how to play doctor at rank 7, and it is one of the most miserable experiences I've ever had in this game. Not only am I getting stomped every game with maybe 1 hook, but gens are flying so fast that I get no more than 5 minutes to even practice per match. I know people say rank doesn't matter, but all I'm being paired with (at least tonight anyway) are rank 1-3's, more than likely some swf groups considering how coordinated they're playing. I just need all the help I can get lol

It's all about staying positive and keeping your chin up. The answer to your question and the solution to your problem is right there: "you're learning something new" :)

Do not be discouraged by the abuse of survivors, don't be dismayed by the gen rushing or the looping, look at these at great opportunities to learn. Playing against the more knowledgeable player base with a new killer is a great way to adapt and NOT make bad habits with the new killer as well. It's the silver lining you have to focus on.

A few tips that will actually help you in addition to having the correct mindset is this:

-stock up on blood points before playing the new killer. (now that you know the game, there's no reason to make it more difficult for yourself without at least level 15 so you can have 4 perks to run) so play a killer you can rack BPs up with efficiently to help you unlock and prepare on your new killer

-watch footage of others playing. It's one thing to figure stuff out on your own, but it's another to see how others play the killer and see what helpful advice they have

-grind more bp for workable builds. I'm not sure if this would apply for you because I don't know your roster, but if you have some teachables unlocked in the web, it would be wise to unlock them before your journey. It's what I did when I was learning Dr for the first time as well and I can tell you that it helped me immensely!

Lastly, don't be discouraged by rank and it's color. It's more of a time sink now then that of actual skill, which is kind of ironic because the more time you put in the game, the more skillful you will be; and don't worry about losing a pip or rank or color- there is no real rewards at the end of a season, just a BP payout and that's all. Nothing prestigious :)

    Good luck and shock on!

  • This looks amazing, Ill f*cking hate getting this map 80% of the time though still hahah. At least it will be a nice sight to my eyes as I get looped forever by rank 1s; it's all about the silver lining ;)

  • Got a link for us to check it out?

  • Killed jendenise and her friends with legion using meta perks. Was called a sweaty try hard, complimented her and her team with "GG WP" in channel and then got banned from her chat. Lol. At least Scott's a cool dude.

  • I love how people are trying to make you feel guilty or bad for 4k in the basement. Good lord people, congratulate the man and move on. People play this game for all different sort of reasons. Our bully nurse here plays to bully overconfident survivors and wanted to share the tale of their glory. I'll raise my glass to that. *cheers* Merces. You did what you wanted, killed as a killer in a ruthless and savage way.

  • He's fine. Adjust perks, adjust playstyle. Keep ya chin up

  • Would be nice to have a mute ability to enable so you don't have to read post game chat :)

Honestly, I only play this game to have fun. Here is a list of why red ranks killer isn't fun.

    • If you don't play perfectly, the game ends in 6 to 8 minutes. Not enough time to enjoy the match.
    • Survivors regularly bring oppressive items. (Keys, Syringes, Styptics etc)
    • Survivors regularly run extremely unfun crutch perks. (Decisive Strike)
    • Survivors who want to win will split up on 4 different gens and there is absolutely nothing you can do to get more than one of them off in a timely manner
    • The safe loops in this game are too safe and too numerous in how many exist in any given map

As killer, the exact same problems still exist that did years ago. Survivors are in complete control of the match. After 2000 hours I have come to know that Survivors who want to win will win 99% of the time. Survivors that are doing gens constantly, bam bam bam bam bam gens gens gens, wasting no time crouch walking around dumpsters or doing dull totems or even cleansing Ruin/Undying. Gens gens gens. When they do that, you feel helpless. What? How did 3 gens finish in the first chase? It's not just me either. I've watched a lot of the community's favorite streamers suffer the same experience. Otz, OhTofu, Truetalent mostly.

Boom boom boom gens done game over.

I don't think increasing gen repair time is the answer either. But, I really wish something would be done. I just want so desperately for this game to be fun at the competitive level but it isn't. It just feels so unfair all the time.

This game is the most fun at ~ 12 - 15 minutes a match, lots of chases and back and forth moments. Just like how games ending in mere minutes to gen rush isn't fun, so is slaughtering a bunch of noobs unfun. I don't want to 4k every match, I don't even care about kills. I just want to have fun and right now... yeah, it just isn't. Survivors jumping in lockers in front of me because they have DS from being hooked even though I wasn't chasing them. Unhooking in front of my face. Keys every other game. Syringers/Styptic pretty much every single game.

I guess i'll just play civilization?

Haha I feel the same. I'm sure you enjoy a challenge as much as I do, but the stress level, not so much. Lol. You nailed it with the "those gens got done in one chase....."

That and it just feels even more draining when you're getting wreckers Haven and Cornfield constantly; just back and forth with those two maps between each other for ~8 hours a play session is so draining. I wish they would have a non-ranked mode, where it will put you against any rank, just a big melting pot of players. I'm relatively new to the game, (just over 200hours) and there are still a handful of killers I have not touched yet, that I would love to play and get use to with and have more of a "chill" experience then 'welp there goes another 7mins game'

  • Hey! Congrats! You did the thing.

  • Yeah people are f*cking weird in this game, and it's always crazy to me that people on a team, are so quick to point blame and instead of educating, or having a civil conversation, they just pop off and start slandering. The weirdest post game chat happened today when a 3 man swf group was flaming the odd man out of their group because they were not properly looping me(I was doctor spamming m2 like an ass lol), which resulted in their rank 1 player in their group to be killed? which I guess, costed them the game?

Like holy sh*t, it's just a game. I think people take this whole "rank" system too seriously. There's no big reward at the end of the season or a leaderboard or something of that sorts. It's just a placeholder. Even if there was, what's the point acting that way lol.

  • So they got what they deserved? ;)

It's brutal how the game behaves, on both sides, with animation locks outplaying players. Pick up lightborn from Billy and they will be fools.

  • As you have seen already, slugging gives you the upper hand. I know that you are most likely seeking excitement games when you are coming out the victor (3ks+), and it can be discouraging when they take 3 gens in the time it takes you to get someone hooked, but don't give up. I had a few close games in the red ranks today, with gens being done and it turned into a 4k since SWF refuse to let anyone die- use that to your advantage. They will always come and do their best to make sure someone's off the hook asap. Use slugging to your advantage to slow them down, to make them challenge their ambition of escaping. It's alot of fun and before you know it, you will turn games like this completely around:

    20201102132322_1.jpg

  • The best is when you are facing that kind of SWF and you're on wreckers Haven for the 20th time in one day. I sure would like to see the other maps for a change.

Granted I don't have discordance or some of the other killer perks yet (on the grind for it), there have been games today where I literally hit a few of them and they are f*cking gone hahah. Lithe and GONE lol. Spawning in the good loops for them too lol, it can be very demoralizing, believe I know. Through my frustrations I realized something beautiful: laughter.

Ya know when sh*ts bad irl and you just have to laugh? Same thing. Once you identify what kind of scenario you're in, work with yourself and give yourself credit. Laugh it off and try to focus on one aspect to help get yourself better. Lately, mind games is a tricky situation, takes alot of practice and experience.

What I have started to do, and it's actually helping my sanity against these toxic groups and 'try hards', I focus on one survivor who's the next Berry Sanders and make that my goal of the game: down em. because lord knows I am not going to get to the other side of Wreckers Haven in the time it will take to bring this f*cking big booty Jane to justice and on that hook.

Also another piece of advice, ranks are kind of deceiving, in the respects of it being meaningful. Past games have taught us and molded us to understand that rank comes with prestige, glory, some kind of end season reward and goodies. All you are getting at the end of a season is a chunk of BPs, that's it. So don't let it demoralize you, it was getting to me and I was getting worked up because of it but I realized that the best killers, have thousands of hours, everything unlocked and have grown past seeing red.

    Keep ya chin up :)

  • Wish there was a rating system of good, quality players on both sides, that would help enable them to play and que into each other.

Something like overwatchs post game rating that would help promote healthy habits and punish those that are being unhealthy to the game state.

I thought I was losing my marbles about my matches, but it seems that alot of people are going through this experience. I feel for you solo survivors getting facedcamp, and I feel for my brothers and sisters as killers who are getting stuck I the LARGEST maps with the quickest gens getting rushed lol. Oh man.

I have only been playing for a month and a half now, to my experienced players on both sides: "is this behavior normal for these events?" "Is it going to get better afterwards?"

    Kind of getting bored :(

  • I can't help but notice that the last 72 hours, I would say 50% of my games have been on wreckers, another 40% on cornfield, 5% in Macmillian and the last 5% being on a slim combo of Hawkins or one of the school maps. There are so many maps and options in the game, but I keep getting stuck on these huge ass maps lol. I would love to have more diversity but it hasn't been and it's like of concerning.

Nearly every wreckers or Corn map, I have faced nothing but gen rushing, hustling swf. And that's fine it's part of the game , but I don't quite understand the mentality of rushing the game as fast as they are. I'm getting multiple hooks and patrolling gens, ironically, I think that's kind of my issue since I'm not camping or heavily sticking to the people I hook (because it's quite poopy for the survivors experience) but the games come to an end where I'm 26-28k and they are out the gates with 2 or 3 people living and scoring 18-21k.

I don't see the games as a "loss" or "win". I'm actually, unfortunately, starting seeing the games boring now; as I have seen killer mains complain about on the forums and they are looking for an experience of cat and mouse, some good plays, etc. you know, a good quality game of rescues, a sacrifice or two, some good chases. The moment I get to a gen, they are gone with their adrenaline perks and there's no way I'm catching up lol. Of course today would have been a good day to be slinger. Oy.

I played 12 matched today and 9/12 of them I ended up opening the gates for the swf because the damn game was over in 8 mins lol. It doesn't help either that my mmr is keeping me facing these rank 1 games. I'm bouncing from rank 5 and 4 and still getting nothing but 2k+ hour teams. I would have figured they would get bored of just gen rushing and getting out the gates asap. Figured they would want to have some good chases and show off their looping skills. But rushing gens and then dipping out to que to the next game. I could do the ruin, undying, nooed, but like, it's dbl BP weekend. It's a free weekend for alot of people, i just want to give a good experience to help promote "healthy" trials. The one win I did today with meta perks and the rank 1 swf team just wrote paragraphs of how I am a sh*tty killer and a horrible try hard, sweaty AF but they rushed gens and all died not doing my totems, or playing the game to it's full extent.

    kekw.

    To each their own.

Literally the BEST comment here. No one could have said it better.

    Thank you :)

  • It's a catch 22. Games too short on either side do not yield pips (or much at all at the higher ranks) and at the same time survivors objective is to do gens to GTFO out asap. Killers objective is to catch survivors and hook em 3 times to kill them.

Survivors don't want to die, so they rush gens. Killers don't want to "lose" so they tunnel someone, or "face camp" (which is funny, most swf destroy face campers due to attack reset)

So you have this vicious cycle of people not wanting to die and then people not wanting to let anyone escape. Ironically, I got in the game to give a good show as a killer, to scare people, make them go "oh sh*t" but the higher the rank I have climbed, the more toxicity I run into. Even if I find it out to be a good game, more time than not, there some form of trash talking toward me at the end. Which is kind of ironic because the trials are player driven experiences. It's really weird.

One side of the coin, you have this really supportive and fun going community, then on the other side you've got pricks lol. Add ons or not, perks or not, it boils down to the individuals that make the game and trials what it is.

I get your frustrations and wanting to vent, but ironically, the internet doesn't care much or they have their jaded opinions. I feel that most of us have seen toxic behavior on both sides and some days are rougher than not, but try to keep ya chin up.

  • It's brutal. I just hit rank 4 as killer, first time ever, with only 105 hours played. I fair pretty well against similar ranks, but I know exactly how you're feeling; I have only had the game for a month now too and I have caught on this struggle that so many write about: games unfair, unbalanced, the whole 9 yards.

It's a personal adversary you will continue to struggle with; and I'm not sure if it's healthy or not. I find myself not wanting to play because I'll need a wheelchair after a game because the map has the best loops for the survivors, and other times I will just decimate the swf group. It has its highs and it has its lows. There are sometimes when, unfortunately, the only damn survivor I find is the Kate that I keep running into and hooking- not evening meaning to tunnel lol, gens are being rushed, my ankles are broken but this poor Kate just keeps meeting my sword lol. Only to then get flamed like no other by the entire team, who escaped btw, lol.

I digress, you need to take a step back and just understand that from a solo point of view, this game can be brutal, and yet it can be so rewarding. I wouldn't give up, I would seek out some friends or players to play with, don't be too shy to meet new people. There are plenty of resources out there for you to do this with. Luckily I found myself a group that I can play with as a survivor and get mindlessly killed with. You survivor mains are crazy, but I see the experience and the fun it can be to cuck a killer endlessly around loops lol.

    Keep ya chin up.

I'd like to see the game remove it's ranking system completely for a month to determine how the game will end up playing. Mix the Toxic cocky with all this high skill, with a beginner. Don't allow survivors to play in a SWF and force people to try and play solo game against random ranks of killers.

The reason I'm saying this is because I'm quite annoyed with how utterly toxic players are in DBD, I know every game will have it's bad sides but does the game have to support this behavior so much? I mean most toxic games play with friends who're as harsh as themselves and spend time with most of the higher rank survivors so they can be carried. Well I'm suggesting a change, mix High Ranks with Low Ranks on both ends. Don't allow a SWF for 2 - 3 weeks forcing players to not rely on friends to carry them and break the system. Encourage players to try and play the game for fun and not for competition since this game is too off balanced to ever be an Esport.

I'm just wanting to play against at least a mix of 1 toxic, 1 casual, 1 beginner, and 1 chill player in the same team against a killer of any of the 4 categories.

I'm saying this mostly from the perspective of a killer since I'm quite annoyed to see players acting so toxic because their skills aren't too bad, but they are also relying on perks that make them better which makes it utterly annoying to go up against.

So please, Devs. A little help here?

As you have been told before, and will be continued to be told: these challenges you face in game are going to only A.) Make you or B.) Break you.

Disregard the perks, add ons; I can tell you already that those are not the deciding factors for your struggles against SWF, your struggling with mechanics, opportunities, and overall knowledge of what to do and when to do it. Do not be discouraged because those swf are "bullying" you, think of what it is that they are doing, how they are doing things. It's one mind vs 4, the thrill of the hunt is on your side, you just need to learn how to adapt to the pressure.

I can tell you that mmr is a thing in this game, and I'm sure alot of people are going to disagree, however, coming from playing nothing but mmr based games, it's quite uncanny to me when I play survivor and only play against and with like minded ranked people (killer included) [only rank 15, I don't focus on this game to be a rat] vs when I play killer and I constantly face purple and red ranks. Regardless of SWF or not, there's quite the distinction there in my games.

I feel that the pips and the way the game scores you is more of an indication of skill; then that of your rank # at face value. Take it from me, I have had some 'horrible' games, where no one died, or only one did, however I'm at 31k+ points at score, vs the sub 20s on the survivors. It's because I did efficiently, as much as I could, as a player. I've witnessed, on both sides, where player A is not doing anything as their supposed to, or the bare minimum, and the final score reflects it.

Don't get me wrong, lol, those little rascals can be slippery and annoying, having to successfully hook em 3 times, while covering a map, with loops, and abilities, etc. can be draining, but don't play your games and "grade" yourself based on the kill counter. This is not CS:GO, or CoD nor MW. This games intentions is to set up a cat and mouse scenario where the content and experience is strictly player driven.

I encourage you to adapt, to learn; knowledge is power and there are plenty of youtube videos, streamers, and for the most part, a community that can help you if you are to listen- not hear.

    Best of luck.
