today me and my swf were discussing how for the last two weeks games have been miserable. slugging over and over and over. face camping. noed/bw/nwo combo (which i haven’t seen in foooreverrrr). idk what it is but it seems like killer mains are collectively having a tantrum.

i would love to see a total rework of freddy. rework his kit and his add ons. i would even be okay with forgoing a new release chapter in favor of a rereleased and reworked freddy. he’s definitely the forgotten child in terms of licensed chapters.

there’s so many things in this game that are busted, complaining about the rare tombstone is craaaazy. in the last month i’ve seen zero tombstone myers.
and tombstone is fun to play against. it’s high stakes. it adds some extra tension to play around. he’s the only killer who has the ability and he’s a relatively low pick killer.

gen block perks last a few second, go cleanse a totem, find a hex, bless a totem, open a chest, take a moment to heal everyone, reset and reposition. gens blocked doesn’t mean you have to scoot behind a rock for 30 seconds. it means do something else.

It's not really as relevant anymore due to people healing less, but FTP + Resilience to steal someone else's injury and use it yourself is pretty funny.
i’m definitely doing this tonight with the addition of inner strength.

in regards to survivor created three gen situations- i do unfortunately see this at least once or twice a day. maybe not every match, but it’s not as rare as you’d think. i feel like i work overtime trying to tackle middle map and clustered gens in order to make up for the fact that my soloQ teammates will often do far corner gens first. and i get it, they’re safer, but playing like that will always come back to bite.

I probably don't kick gens that much. This is especially true because on the killer side I'm a Nurse main and seldom touch a gen.
However, I feel that there will be a time, with another killer, where this will be needed and that will annoy me greatly.
Beyond being a limit, it feels artificial and backward. I know broken beyond any hope of recovery but suddenly unbreakable? That's a new one.
Well, as far as I'm concerned this is a theoretical. I've only played a couple of hours during the last two months and I'm not eager to come back.
this is my exact thought. theoretically speaking it won’t be THAT big of an interference in average gameplay. however, it’s yet another thing for killers to consider. another thing to be cognizant of. it makes certain perks look less appealing. restrictions of this nature feel bad. and that’s one thing the devs really drive home, is how gameplay “feels”.
-
i’ve played a few matches with some pretty dedicated gen kickers. i wouldn’t say it’s a daily thing to witness, but i’m also one of those annoying gen tappers, so i probably encounter it more than the average surv main. regardless of gen tapping, i’ve seen a lot of killers with nwth kick 1% gens just to get some value from their perks. a limit/restriction isn’t going to feel good for those people. it might not impact gameplay much, but being limited regardless likely feels really bad.

Are killers really dry kicking gens that much? What are we doing? What games are we playing where we need more than 8 regression events on multiple gens? I can not recall a time where a gen got hit with Pain Res+Pop 4+ times and survivors weren't dead by that point.

They could have implemented something that’d only affect the very last gen, but why do that when they can make killer gameplay feel terrible across the board!
even if it doesn’t impact average gameplay as they stated, putting a tight limit on such an essential and core element of the game FEELS soooo bad!!!

some people enjoy solo q with no comms because it adds to the spooky survival aspect of the game. and not all swf are coordinated to the point of toxicity. i think you’d be surprised to see how many swfs are on call with each other talking about tv shows and snacks or just being quiet until something major happens.
comms/swf is not as big of a problem as people make it out to be. i solo’ed for years and years until the last month when i started to swf with my partner. can confirm there’s little to no difference besides the fun of gaming with someone rather than alone. but that’s all online games.

tbh i wish they would completely rework his chapter, character design and all. not only are his abilities crummy and weak and weird, but his character design also looks terrible. they should do that chapter justice with a complete rework and redesign. i would happily forfeit a new chapter in lieu of a rework.
-
wesker- i don’t know why, but i seem to spawn on top of his forehead every time. last night i had three matches where i spawned WITH a heartbeat and was first sacrificed. i don’t know why but i can’t win against this guy.
the dredge- again, maybe i don’t understand the mechanics of him but i cannot win against the dredge.
the artist- super weird one, when she first released i thought she was super mid but now artist gamers are a different breed. i consider myself to be not bad at survivor but weaker, dredge, and the artist kick my butt every time.
follow up, any tips for going against these killers is highly appreciated lol

i think tunneling is worth complaining about because it’s just…. kinda stupid. and before you pull out a pitchfork, i play both sides 50/50.
as a killer your function is to make sacrifices and prevent gen progress. because gen progress gets the survivors closer to escaping. duhh.
when you’re obsessively tunneling one person just to make two hooks in the time it took the rest of the squad to crank out three gens, you’re just wasting your time and throwing the game lol. i’ve never seen a dedicated tunneler make more than two kills in a match and one of them is usually thanks to noed.
so while yeah, it sucks getting tunneled because as a survivor you can’t get any objectives done, it’s also just a bad way to play the game because you as a killer also aren’t getting your objectives done.
complaining about gen rushing is just complaining about survivors literally doing their objective. your main focus as a survivor is gens, you can’t escape without doing them, unless it becomes a hatch match. there’s no such thing as gen rushing. maybe you’re just bad at patrolling the gens and creating map pressure.

People are missing the biggest factor
If the killer has no aura reading perks, Distortion is useless
This conversation is only up because killer players want the game to hold their hands and show where the survivor's are everytime, combined with the fact that a lot of aura reading perks are being released/buffed
i think distortion became a big topic again because of friends til the end. tbh i rarely saw distortion until recently and i think killer mains are having a fit that survs have a counter to their new favorite mid perk.
-
implying that new players are doomed because they don’t have access to a (relatively) recent chapter…. is so… SO dramatic.
what do you think killers did before the stranger things chapter…. do you think pre-stranger things killers just hooked themselves? get a grip. good lord.
there are some seriously strong base game perks. stop relying so heavily on the same 3 perks and gain some well rounded skill by rotating other perks.

Somehow I think it would be weird, if I equipped it on Ace. But I don't mind. Might make for some funny memes.
no different than equipping something like mettle of man on a meg.

They can only use that name when they bring my girl sidney prescott to the game
Ik it's out if their control but still
It would so cool if we got a dual survivor chapter with two iconic final girls. like sidney and gale weathers. i’m so here for it.

hiding within terror radius isn't any harder than hiding outside of it, let's be honest. distortion isn't op or anything, but it recharges a bit too fast, making it impossible to burn through stacks unless you specifically go for perks/add ons for it. if it's intended to counter auras completely, then it should be balanced around that like reduced aura block time and no hiding scratch marks idk. and for some unknown reason it recharging in chase unlike similar terror radius perks like stake out and pebble has always bugged me out, kind of takes away killers' counterplay option.
if a killer is reliant on aura perks to track and make a kill, that sounds like a skill issue with game sense and map awareness.
oh and i agree with that lmao i'm a shameless nwth abuser and finding people with that always feel super cheap, hence why i can't really complain about the strength of distortion. only poor innocent bbq only peeps are getting unfair treatment from the perk.
that part about it recharging during a chase is actually a great point. i feel like recharging within a killers radius is fine, but it shouldn’t recharge during chase. that’s tilted.

Distortion is an ALL-IN perk, similiar to Adrenaline.
You can either get full value of it if the killer is running aura reading perks, or get 0 value if they run 4 slowdown perks e.g.
You are acting as if everyone who uses it are rats and selfish, which has nothing to do with the perk. If someone want to be a rat, they would be regardless.
This is a classic overreacting rant situation.
this is soooo valid. i frequently rotate between shadow step and distortion and probably 60% of the time i get no use out of distortion because the killer wasn’t running any aura perks. its either super clutch, or has no value at all.

The nightmare chapter needs a complete overhaul. Quentin sucks, Freddy sucks. not to mention freddy looks laughably bad. he looks like something straight out of a playstation 2 game. like the guy is literally so silly looking and not intimidating even in the slightest. aren’t we supposed to be scared of the killers? the “wake up” mechanic makes sense and is valid, but his entire kit otherwise is nonsense.
the devs need to revisit the films and do a complete overhaul on that entire chapter. it’s a stain on the licensed chapters. if they brainstormed i’m sure they could come up with something brutal for him, but tbh at this point it feels like he’s bhvr’s forgotten child. if they just completely reworked the nightmare chapter, i’d be cool with them rereleasing that instead of a new chapter.
-
distortion is in a balanced place right now. you start with stacks, you have to be in the killers radius to regain them which prevents ratting in a corner. killers have such an arsenal of aura perks these days, distortion is the only valid reliable perk to combat it. if a killer is reliant on aura perks to track and make a kill, that sounds like a skill issue with game sense and map awareness. playing a healthy balance of both sides will help you gain better map awareness from the surv’s perspective and you won’t be so reliant on auras. you’ll develop a good hunch.

I’d be down. Just please don’t make the perk as awful as sole survivor.
i feel like a lot of end game perks only proc once the exit gates are powered. a perk called Final Girl could be something useful for when the gates aren’t powered but you’re the last survivor. maybe something like if you stun the killer as the last survivor the hatch’s aura is revealed.
-
i think this is a sticky situation because stealth is a valid play style, and being stealth is very different than being a rat. if the devs were to nerf a bunch of stealth perks to discourage ratting, it would actually punish players who are stealthy but still active participants in the game.
as much as we all hate when we spectate and see a feng crouched in a corner waiting for hatch after not touching a single gen, hook, totem, etc etc, you have to admit there’s some merit to the player who hasn’t been hooked once yet cranked out three gens, two unhooks, heals, a totem, and a door.
i think it would be crummy to punish the people who aren’t abusing stealth perks, just because of a handful of rats. bc let’s be real, ratting isn’t THAT common. i think a better solution would be to incentivize NOT ratting. how? i’m not sure. maybe come up with a system that only grants mega hatch bp IF you actually did something during the match.

i don’t think the map is too big. i think it’s necessary to have a variety of map sizes. when all the maps continue being sized down smaller and smaller eventually all the maps are going to be tiny and killers will have way too much control.
it’s a skill issue if you can’t cope with large maps. if you’re weak at certain maps, burn offerings to avoid it or get better at applying pressure.
my only complaint with this map is that there’s so many dead zones in the corners. other than that i really like the current state of this map.
