This isn't even arguable, There's 4 players in the other times so a lot of chance to be a bad apple in there.
Bingo. Survivors also have a lot more ways to mess with a killer than vice versa. All complaints about killers revolve around tunneling somehow.

I can't tell if you're a troll or genuinely this dense
I'm mocking you for listing Brawlhalla and Smash as fighting games. Come here, I'll give you a nuzzle for knowing someone who beat Ghouls & Ghosts c'mere YOURE SO CUTE YES YOU ARE!!!

So because we want to enjoy games that looks good instead of low poly ######### it's our fault the gameplay is arse?
Okay boomer.
Plenty of games that look good that aren't of this era. Keep trying, c'mon.
EDIT: Not to mention theres new games that don't look that great too. Games looking good are more about how the creators are able to utilize the tools they have, not the amount of "polys". And yes, its your fault because you accept garbage gameplay for the sake of games that "look good". Yes. Its your fault.

You're right, nobody is forcing us to use those products. Nobody is making me play the remake of resident evil 2 over the original. Nobody is making me play Overwatch or Paladins or whatever. Nobody is making me play New Super Mario Bros Deluxe Switch Edition, over the original one, except for me.
My point was that you can't blame it on the younger generation for being wimps when we're not the ones designing the games we play.
We're blaming the younger generation for being wimps because they're acting like wimps. Theres a huge, HUGE catalog of video games in existence, you don't have to play the new garbage thats being released.
I can blame them, and I will blame them.

I'm making a public announcement: younger gamers are weaker and worse people than older gamers, and I suggest we light torches, find some pitchforks, and chase em into the woods. THEY HAVE TO BE ELIMINATED!!! Whos with me.
On a serious note, its true that its not an age thing, its an ERA thing, and this era creates really lame, fragile gamers.

I don't really think your generalization is very accurate. Fighting games and other hard games are still popular among the younger generations, including my own. Me and my friends are constantly playing fighting games like Lost Saga, Brawlhalla, Tekken, and Smash Bros, and we are also playing hard single player games like Spelunky, Barony, and some other games on the hardest difficulties (notably 7 Days to Die and SteamWorld Heist). Hell, one of my friends even beat the two Ghost and Goblin games in the past year.
Since gaming is much more popular than it was in the 80s and 90s, you're going to see a lot more variation in the difficulties of games than you would back then. I don't think it's very responsible to demonize younger folks because of this.
"other hard games"
"smash bros, brawlhalla"
yeah ok, I'll stick to my generalization. Stop trying to convince me with your list of hard games, junior.

Let this current generation go and try to beat the original ninja gaiden on NES. I broke more then one controller when I was young playing that game. It made me appreciate beating it all the more.
too many participation trophies these days to ever commit to anything that presents a challenge
For real, let them find the report button in an NES cartridge.

Same reason fighting games died. People don't like knowing they lost because they got outplayed and not because their team "sucked" or the other had an unfair advantage.
That's why team games dominate eSports now.
Thank God I'm not the only one like this. I was starting to think I was losing my mind. Do either of you remember the big deal people were making because Cuphead was "too hard"? People were saying content shouldn't be locked behind difficulty and other nonsensical things like that. I was so bewildered because I found games like Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels to be fun and engaging, that was a normal gaming experience for me.
Gibblywibblywoo is completely on the money. The rise of MOBAs for instance is directly because of this. All of the modern MOBAs have (at least tried to) fix their games so that one person on a team can only have so much influence. Even in something like Overwatch, theres no kill counter.
The younger generations have made gaming communities wack.

As a survivor main, I can admit, we need nerfs. We have a lot of things that can be considered overpowered within the game. Also we have some game breaking things as well. But I don't wanna turn this into a survivor vs. killer thread.
I'm a survivor main too, and I want killers to be strong and robust so people play them, ALL of them, not just ones that are particularly good at the moment. I play survivor cause I like to be chased and being sneaky and paranoid, thats what gets me off. So I want people to have fun as killer, I don't want them to feel frustrated and unhappy. I get very excited when I see clever killers, its something to behold.
-
Theres a lot that can be done to reward killers for switching targets or to punish killers for tunneling one person, for example chase speed, wiggle speed/strength, maybe if somebody has been hooked twice in a row it takes two hits to put them in the dying state for a third time, etc.
Problem is, there would have to be nerfs to survivors to compensate, and people will lose their goddamn minds. Not to mention the entire concept of the survivors working together only to benefit themselves throws a huge monkey wrench into the balance. Sometimes a game, AS A SURVIVOR, is a 1v4. Which is very interesting, but complicated.

Why do people want a "LGBT" character? As in anything on that spectrum would satisfy them? Say they add a female lesbian as a character, is a male bisexual supposed to be like "Oh cool I'm being represented!". Look at that nonsense that happened with Cyberpunk, they had no problem being inclusive of various people, then people started screaming because the LGBT characters weren't exactly as they wanted them to be. Theres no value in appeasing people who want these characters.

I say this game in particular because unlike COD where things are more on an equal playing field, dead by daylight is not. So something like a tbagging person who just stunned you with only 1/15th of the pallets they have left to work with on a map is greatly amplified because you can do nothing about it. Stuff like this exists on both sides, feeling helpless is just so infuriating in this game because there is nothing you can do sometimes and the other side knows it while purposefully trying to make you upset over it by simply pressing crouch a few times on their keyboard, or smacking you on hook.
In that case I think you're completely off. Any game that has one team vs. another is prone to this, take LoL or even TF2 for example, you have two teams, and very, very rarely are the teams going to be even. In most cases, one team is stacked against the other, and that exact feeling of helplessness you described kicks in, it feels like the game was made for you to lose/win before it even began.
DBD is not special in this regard.

I'm finding more and more that I am getting put into matches with red rank killers (usually rank 1 or 2) when I myself am only a rank 7 survivor. Because their gameplay is so much more advanced than mine, I'm finding it really unenjoyable (it's at a point where I wonder why I still actually play the game... and I think it's more because of the money I spent than the enjoyment I get from it!). Does anyone else feel like the matchmaking is completely out of whack, or am I just overreacting?
No its not just you, I have the exact problem but on the opposite foot, I play survivor 99% of the time, so when I play killer, I have absolute garbage perks & experience, and I'm going vs. red rank survivors with fully completed builds. Even as a survivor, I'm rank 8, and I hate getting rank 1 teammates, they play completely differently than when I get people my own ranks.
The matchmaking smells like a dead game.

You know what? I completely agree with you, the fact that there are mentally unstable people playing a game (especially this game in particular) is quite irresponsible on their part. But that won't stop a lot of those people. So at the least, we could update the report system. Besides, this is only one reason updating the report system needs to happen. Even if it doesn't happen to someone not doing so great, it still drives people away from the game.
I hear you, and I appreciate you trying to defend those people. Why do you say this game in particular has a lot of unstable people in it though? Genuinely curious.
-
Do we really need a PSA on why you shouldn't play online games when you're in a bad mental place? For real, I know what its like, and if I feel like playing DBD is going to stress me out more than bring me relief, I don't play it. You need to come mentally prepared or do something else, there's no third option.
I've never played an online game where people didn't complain about the report system not working. Its because in any game that's even semi-popular and has messaging/chat and a report system? There is going to be an abundant amount of reports, more than any reasonably sized staff could go through. Its there to make you feel good. "I reported that guy, he'll get his comeuppance!"
Toughen up or leave. It sounds horrible but anybody saying anything else is blowing smoke up your rear end. Don't fool yourself into thinking things like this have a solution. People are going to be jerks.
-
I haven't played as The Blight so take this opinion 100% from a survivor's standpoint: I've never felt cheesed by Blight, you have to actually think about how you're gonna juke him. He makes for exciting matches, similar to Billy, because he can come flying in out of nowhere.
I like going vs. him.

Enjoy your quick loss I guess.
I'll just jump back on gens.
Players act selfish, then get mad at retaliation.
Literally what I'm doing vs. people who want points so badly that they scumbag unhook me in front of the killer without Borrowed Time.
Enjoy your gen.

Because pressing 1 button repeatedly and not being able to move or do anything is fun.
Not to mention in a game that revolves around stealth, tracking, timing, etc "Mash the A button to not lose!" is jarring. It goes from Metal Gear to Mario Party.

Better than not buying it would be for the people who did to ask for refunds. You can't count how many people don't buy the DLC, but you CAN count how many people DID and asked for a refund. Whether you get the refund or not is not the point either.
-
I'll just wait until I'm in the second phase and act like I'm gonna hang on and let the entity kill me right before you attempt to unhook. Take THAT! I'll take the loss just for you to get less points with your dumb We're Gonna Live Forever.
-
I can't comment on the coding because I haven't played The Twins, but I do like their concept. I like that they have a core mechanic and not an amalgamation of them, like reworked Freddy. I'm not saying Freddy OP or anything like that, but I've seen it more than enough times - when you start giving characters multiple mechanisms its downhill from there.
-
If you sell a broken product there is no limit to the flak you deserve. Is it naive to buy something from a company with a not-so-great track record? Yes, doesn't matter. BHVR is the recipient of the money, they have the high card, they have to take the flak.

Gen rushing is technically when survivors do gens instead of unhooking teammates or getting them off the ground if they're slugged.
When people say gen rush they usually mean that the survivors did the gens fast.
....But thats what you're supposed to do. You're supposed to gen rush so the killer has to choose between camping the hooked/slugged survivor, and going after the others doing gens. Majority of the time I see people going for the rescue? It ends in just a hook train, at least one dead survivor, and zero gens done for it. Honestly it gets a little tiring having to be the gen jockey every goddamn game.
Am I missing something here? Isn't gen rushing the check to facecamping?
-
######### is "gen-rushing". Until five gens are done they are the only objective, anything else is to make doing gens possible (breaking totems, distracting killers etc). I don't understand how aiming to do the objective is like griefing or bm. Makes no sense. On the flip side, this is why I don't resent killers who facecamp or tunnel, what the hell are they supposed to do in a 4v1? Fight fair?
