  • can confirm, got on the for the first time after the update and I got tunneled both times right out of the gate. Now grant I got spawned unluckily into the dead zone of the map on the first map but I literally had a team member have to take a protective hit after getting me off the the hook because the tunneling was hard. The addition of the endurance feat off the hook does nothing, it doesn't last long enough to make distance to get away from the killer if they are determined to tunnel. I have never used the meta, I don't like the perks but I'm starting to think I need to have DS in my line up if this is going to keep happening.

My normal build is Urban, Quick and Quiet, Balanced Landing or Prove Thyself, and Spine Chill (for gens).

  • I love this, read it to my friends group and we all agree this is a great idea.

  • I just placed another thread for this several days ago because the same issue. We actually recoded it just so we had a record of the game play to review. My friends and I decided to test with doctor in a private game just to see and in vc the person who was playing killer was frustrated because there were hits they were landing that in no way should have hit us. The worst instance was going into a vault and being half way into killer shack before the a hit downed me when the audio indicated she had hit the window frame. The friend playing doctor was rather irritated with her saying. "Yeah that was bs, there is no way that should have connected."

At this point we have found that if there is any lag, or any delay it seems to prioritize either one person or the other then giving the true value. 38 minutes latter and we were able to have her hit survivors around corners, on the other side of pallets when cleared, on the other side of a cleared vault with distance, hitting when behind her, and hits when a survivor was outside the killer strike zone (aka red cone) when in chase. It makes for a bad match when you have a good game get even a small blip of lag and the entire thing seems to desync so hits are being made that shouldn't connect or vise versa.

This is why I love playing hag and against her. It is more of a testament of skill than anything else and really brings a use for things like Urban Evasion. I had a player the other day who managed to complete gens right under my nose by completing gens I had placed traps behind because of her skill with UE. I also believe that hag brings the true horror aspect to the game as you are always on your toes worried where she will be or even where she won't be and suddenly just appear. I honestly don't feel the need to run ruin or overly trap hooks, and if a survivor trips a trap near a hook I just go after the unhooker, as the the hooked shouldn't be punished for the faults of a over-confident person just running through my traps with no precaution. I will admit that basement hooks on hag are VERY punishing, and I think that the devs should do something similar to hag as they did with pyramid head's trail of torment goo when it comes to hooks. A good hag knows the loops to trap that are particularly nasty to killers that survivors often abuse, a bad hag just traps hooks and punishes the already punished.

And that is what makes you a good player. I hate having my team mate downed right after unhook, I would rather you get me then them. It's like, yep hit me instead you just got them even if they are the ones that trigger the traps.

Killers already Depip for camping, it doesn't dissuade the behavior.

I didn't realize, but then again I have never seen one of them depip for staring longingly into my eyes until the sweet sweet release of death.

I'm starting to wonder if my teams hook rescue game needs to be weaker.... :/

    Well, the devs are wrong.

You can't simultaneously allow for camping, asking the hooked survivor to "stay there, as long as you can," and then penalize survivors who stay on hook/DC because they have better things to do. You can't also bill your game as an asymmetrical survival-horror with hide&seek elements, only to promote the contrary: Scenic Walking Simulator w/ a side of Myst added in.

If you're going to validate the most toxic playstyle, you need to reward the target of that playstyle.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1682117#Comment_1682117

Entity's Displeasure: Hooked Survivors while within your terror radius and 10m of you have reduced death progression shortly after being hooked, while you're not in chase. Entity's Displeasure Is deactivated upon entering a chase, Entity's Displeasure will reactivate after spending a total of 10 seconds near a hooked survivor after exiting a chase. Entity's Displeasure is not in effect when two or more survivors are on hook or during End-Game Collapse.

It's not hard to target the scenario everyone hates

    Oh, I like that.

Though a quick dirty way to do it would probably be to just not award blood points for camping so sacrifices don't have as much weight if they go through the entire hook progression in one go. So having it count as if they did only one hook vs full sacrifice points. So that way it would have the killers depip for the behavior. So you reward killers that chase, find, and hook survivors for each unique hook with more blood points for better behavior and maxing out chase and other categories. This way killers that don't chase, find survivors, or ect won't get pip progression and stay in the 20 to teens.

    A killer camping? THAT'S OUTRAGEOUS!

Don't they have knowledge of the survivor rulebook? It clearly states what they can and can't do and camping is a big NO NO

in case you haven't realized that I'm being sarcastic. Survivors tend to rush the hook if the killer leaves it. They lose all pressure they had and there is an easy counter to it

Rush the gens or run perks that counter such as Deliverance/DS/UB/SG

I've seen plenty of survivors running that build

But that gets boring, wouldn't you rather play against players that don't have what killers deem "toxic" perks all the time? Cause lets be honest about this, survivors run perks to prevent tunneling and camping and killers complain about that because everyone uses those same builds weather they tunnel or camp. Survivors complain because killers camp forcing them to them use the same builds to prevent that behavior.

Also there are more ways then camping to keep pressure on a match. Such as gen domination (pop, dragon, ruin), revealing perks (Bitter, BarbQ, Spies, ect), and a host of others to give you the advantage (NOED, Warden, and ect). I play Legion for my main killer and I don't camp, it's not my style and I prefer to have a fun match. Which is hunting down survivors, chasing them and hooking them. I still 4k without camping but it does take some work. I also want them to pull their team mates off the hook, I get more blood points for it if I have to find them again. I have only had DS used against me once for that reason, which I knew I was going to have happen because it was end game and Laurie and I had just downed them right after a hook because they ran right into me at the exit gate.

Camping is playing the game, just not how you want them to play. They still have to defend it from your teammates, and be honest, it isn't the campers fault that it works, it's the Survivors since they keep feeding him.

Stopping the health bar wouldn't work for all situations. What will happen if a Killer manages to hook a Survivor near a gate when all gens are powered and their teammates keep running the Killer around the hook?

I would rather that the Devs upgrade the entity and have it teleport Survivors to a random hook after their first hook and only if there are 3 or more gens left.

That is why I specified the first hook, It's not about preventing all health drain it's about changing behaviors. You would still have health drain if you leave a margin of distance between you and the survivor on the hook, that way their health would deteriorate (most killers can move the 4 to 8 meters distance easily). You could even proxy camp by going in and out of the range which I don't mind killers doing. Second hook places you at half health automatically which means if they were to use the mechanics they already have in game a killer could camp the second hook with no problem. That is also why I mentioned the distance factor as it should be reasonable for both parties. Also Avis your idea wouldn't work if you couldn't get your team mate off the first hook as the killer is staring longingly into your team mates eyes until they exsanguinate.

You could also do it where if a certain number of gens is completed the feature wouldn't trigger much like you mentioned. I wouldn't mind if it makes you teleport to a random hook but that is also a disadvantage for the killer so I wouldn't want to do that to them or myself to be honest. Though I kinda like the cages randomness for Pyramidhead.

I don't run DS because I don't have it and I don't have BT. I will take a hit for my team mates to get them off the hook even with a camper. But it doesn't make sense that as soon as I get them off the hook the killer can slug them down as soon as their feet touch the ground.

Yes I can not feed the killer and just leave my team mate to die on hook and complete gens in the mean time but it ruins the experience and still rewards the killer. They still get points for the kill and I don't get points for the cooperative action that is built into the game. It's not universal but when you have a killer standing there kebabbing you for all three hook cycles it gets down right disrespectful.

I have this same issue on PC, normally my game runs absolutely smooth, but sometimes it gets struck with crashitis. My friends and I can play most of the day and every other match the game will freeze, sounds will still play, and I have to close the game. It happens almost randomly, usually my crashes are before mid-match. Tends to be when self healing but it may be coincidence because other times I'm just hiding. Oddly enough, the game has never frozen/crashed when I play killer.

I've intentionally dc'd maybe 3-4 times when soloing because I won't put up with toxic teammates who like to constantly sandbag and try to farm points off you, or are just being twats and giving you away to the killer at every opportunity. I try to deal with it but sometimes you just don't want to deal with crap.

I do disagree on the lack of skill, and while I agree that tunneling and camping sucks, at the end of the discussion it's a play style. Sure, sometimes it is someone who isn't good at killer and they want to confirm their kills. We may not like it but killers have every right to play their matches that way, good or not. Just like survivors have every right to run 'toxic' perks like DS, BT, and whatever else.

Personally, when I play killer I try not to kill anyone (unless they decide to give away teammates or tbag me, thems are no-nos). I'll try my best to keep pressure on them so they have to work for their gens/escape but I'm not that good of a killer, wee little rank 17. I run Discordance, Unrelenting, Whispers, and Stridor. When I play survivor I want to survive, but also have fun, so when playing killer I want my survivors to have as much fun as possible and get points in the process. They almost always come out with several thousand more points than me. Even when playing nice this way I've gotten many dc's, some from crashes no doubt, but most happen when someone is downed or hooked. Some people, on both sides, are just unhappy with the match results (whether or not it's ended) no matter what.

Survivors don't want to be the first one hit, they don't want to be downed, they don't want to be hooked, they don't want to be mori'd.

Killers don't want the match to take more than a few minutes, they don't want survivors running certain perks, they don't want them using certain items and add-ons, they don't want anyone escaping.

This game is designed to be a challenge, annoying/angering, and at times spooky. No one will be completely happy with how things are, and both sides are at each others throats over stupid things sometimes (all the time). The devs make changes and this side is happy, while the other side is upset, vice versa for each change, buff, nerf.

Okay I'm done rambling, the last half wasn't even directed at you, just in general.

No problem Ahluvia, I get it. I personally don't DC because I find it to be disrespectful to the other players. And when I mean they were acting abusive I mean, really, really toxic. The last was a doctor that kept spamming his shock and hitting my friend on hook. I was able to get her off but he downed her right off hook as neither of us have BT or DS (she just started playing 3 weeks ago). The killer was high ranked and there really was no reason for it. he had good perks and could have played a great game but decided to act trashy instead.

I love playing killer and I like making a game enjoyable for everyone but it really does come down to skill level. I find that the killers that camp most are ones that don't feel they can get downs and kills or are looking for an easy game. Yes it is their right to play how they like but it is abusing a game mechanic when you get down to it. They know that as long as they can get a survivor down to a certain point by camping they don't have to put in the work.

I think it needs to be balanced for both killers and survivors, example of some maps being to large for a killer to work effectively. There are plenty of perks that could be reworked to make it a better experience for killer. While for survivors there should be some preventative measures for camping. I can honestly say I have only had DS used on me once as killer and my reaction was. "Sorry, that was my bad.". I don't like NOED but I get why killers use it and I don't begrudge them the perks. Perks themselves are not inherently toxic and they are used in response to consistent game play on both sides. It's a reactionary situation really so when someone uses BT, DS, DH or the likes I'm happy to play against it. I would rather play with diverse perks then the same ones.

Camping from the start sucks, but the Devs really can’t do much since it can be the best strategy that a Killer can employ later in the match.

Blame survivors for abusing anti-camping mechanics that the Devs introduced and had to remove due to its abuse.

Best thing to do is run Kindred, and master looping to make yourself as and unappealing target.

Not true, the best way to make this stop would be to simply make it so a survivor's health doesn't decrease on first hook when the killer is within a certain proximity to a survivor. For example if they do it within the parameters that they already have for level 1 kindred (8 meters) or even if they did it for half (4 meters) that would prevent camping. Because it would force a killer to leave a hooked survivor to actually... you know.... play the game.

  • Like ClickyClicky the difficulty of playing her is what makes it hard to master so that is why she isn't played as often so there is a lack of complaint. However I do notice that there is a way to counter the nurse's blink, before she materializes her visual range shows aka the red cone. The best way to avoid a hit is as soon as you see it is a sharp turn or vault to avoid the nurse. If the player is fast enough and can blink multiple times then this is difficult to avoid but doable. It also depends on if you have lag or not, if I'm not lagging I can avoid the nurse relatively well and keep her distracted.

Nurse also takes considerable skill to use. I'm absolute trash at her and mistime my blinks because.... well I'm not good with the range she has nor do I play her often. Not having add ons when playing also means that I make a lot of blind blinks which can be... well I'm just garbage at it to say the least.

I enjoy the skill it takes for someone to play her well and I love running into a good nurse player because it's a good game when you have a confident killer.

Hi guys I know I haven't been on for a while been busy with my Mom recovering from her surgery she had a few months ago and cleaning and life in general. But I just recently got back into DBD and I noticed that since the crossplay their have been ALOT of DCing all over the place. I have said this many times but I am sick of people disconnecting for no reason at all. Wait their IS a reason because their big jerks and babies who don't knw how to play and want to be annoying to the other players and the Killer. It's supposed to be a game, if you can't handle it, then maybe you shouldn't be playing it in the first place. Even with the new rules about disconnecting and being penalties about it they still do it.

Yesterday me and my friend were playing and 2 players DCed in a game and then the Killer DCed because he couldn't catch anyone. My lord people if you can't handle this game then maybe you shouldn't have bought it in the first place. Save the killing/survivoring to the rea players. When you DC it makes it harder for the other players who are trying to play and enjoy themselves.

A little side topic what is with the players rubbernecking me when I am trying to play? This Meg yesterday was following me the whole time while I was trying to play and she would follow me to a gen and blow it up just to be a jerk and then I'd try to leave her and she'd follow me again. Stop rubbernecking people it's not cool.

I unfortunately have to disagree that this is always the reason for a DC. My poor friend yesterday had the entire game error and just drop her mid match. She had been running to get me off the hook when her character zoomed by and started to run against the wall. The killer downed her and I being in a voice chat with her got to hear her cussing up a storm as she had to restart the game.

I have also had it crash my computer (which has happened twice) and that caused a DC on my side while my friend and I were in a game. So keep in mind that the person DCing might not be doing so on purpose. I have also had as of 2 days ago the error 500 when someone gets dropped and DCs as we are loading in.

Yes I have as killer had someone Dc when I had downed someone and was hooking another but that made me attempt to make the game more enjoyable for myself and the remaining players. AKA we just had fun running around and me spooking them. Good after chat and general fun can be had even if you have a couple of jerks.

Of the eight people I play with we have only had 2 official DCs where they intentionally DCed on the killer. Both times where after blatant abusive behavior from the killer. Both were when they were face camped with the killer hitting them while on hook. They also played over half the match before DCing as the killer had done this consistently with the other randoms we were playing with. At that point the game was pretty much horrible because even when you can complete the objectives it makes for a distasteful game experience. Even when I was able to get them off the hook the face camper would just down them again and it was all rinse and repeat.

So yes, my friends decided in both those instances that they would rather take the penalty then give the killer the satisfaction of their death on hook. This also speaks badly about those killers because it is a lack of skill if they do that. It's not how the game in intended to be played and it takes away the enjoyment of the game for all individuals playing.

  • @AvisDeene said:

When playing against her, my only complaint is why does no one crouch when I unhook them??!

Survivors have this mentality that they should be able to play the exact same way against all Killers, which is ridiculous. That’s why there are so many calls for nerfing Killers.

When playing as her, it’s fun if you control your web and don’t get lured into a long chase. It’s a pain in the ass when I’m facing an elite death squad SWF, since they all know how to loop perfectly and usually have flashlights.

you should play with my group Avis, we get into screaming fits about survivors running all over the map. It's like walk or crouch but don't run unless you are being chased, and or saving someone from a hook!!!!

  • wholesome.... I got this.

One of my now good gaming friends I met in DbD. He was playing a Suzzie and moried our entire team. After he hooked everyone but me. A mistake he made and realized when he tried to mori me and realized that I was the sneaky one he had yet to down all game... Rip. So he convinced our remaining team member to unhook before killing us both. This was a random so I had no way of telling her not to do it. My sister was laugh/screaming the entire time because we both knew what was going to happen. In the after chat my sister and I (because yes we play as a duo) were teasing him and more or less flirty joking around. We had a great conversation and I ended up inviting him to my discord server to play with us some time. He was awesome and really chill and we jokingly planed a kill your friends date with him. It was one of the best matches that I have had up to date and I hope I can meet other killers that are just as awesome.

  • I personally enjoy a skilled hag player but I think the biggest issue I have when playing survivor is how quite a few of the lower level players camp the hook. That is what I take exception too, I shouldn't have to run in while you are face camping my team mate to pull them off the hook after you just trapped the entire area. I love when I'm walking through a map and run into a randomly placed trap, it makes me curse like a sailor and gives me a great adrenaline spike for the chase I now brought down on myself.

Hag is a beautiful character in her back story and ability, I love a good challenge and because I play with friends I don't mind working together to try and get gens done. I get killed more often then not but sometimes it's worth taking that hit if it means my friends can complete the last gen or find the hatch depending on the game.

I like balanced killers and good game play so being able to save my team mates is the most rewarding part of game for me. So if you are trapping and not tunneling and genuinely playing the game to win while allowing others to enjoy the game I say just ignore the hate.

.... but really her hit box is way to big, smh for getting hit through a palate after killer was stunned yesterday in a hag match... rip

  • So I can honestly say I am one of those problem children. Consider what my steam name is..... But really I have met some of the coolest killers that way in the after chat. So yeah, hook me harder daddy!

  • DS can also be countered though (down them, pick them up and drop them for several minutes to allow for cool down), which I think most killer realize by now... or I hope. When I play killer I don't care if someone has DS, if they have the perk then good for them. I rarely get people acting toxic and DS only applies when then survivor is the last hooked and then downed again so DS can be triggered. Which means you are downing the same survivor multiple times in a row. When I play killer, which is a 50/50 split for me if I down you by accident again right away and pick you up. I am assuming the responsibility for my actions even if unintentionally I have just tunneled someone and that is me being a jerk. I normally don't have that issue as I hook survivors and then leave them to be rescued by their team mates as I want to play the game fairly. I hate campers as a survivor and refuse to be that person while playing killer. If you keep triggering DS, you are probably attempting to down them and sacrifice the same person over and over which will leave you open to DS.

When I play survivor I'm not a fan of NoED but I get why killers use it, I don't complain about it being toxic because it is their right. The perks are there so you have the best chance to kill and survive, they have both strengths and weaknesses. When you intentionally do things that are unsportsmen like, griefing, or such they you deserve to be reported. Perks being used correctly are not an offense so realistically if you are complaining about them being toxic you need to get better at the game. I'm not the best, I potatoe skill checks as a survivor and some maps as killer make me so turned around that survivors can run circles around me. But that is my own failing. It just means that someone is better at the game then I am and I need to get better.

  • Yes, my sister, friend, and today I got stuck on the rocks at the bottom of the hill in a match. Only if you are downed by the killer and picked up do you have the ability to get out of it.

    stuck on rock.jpg

  • I and a friend ended up reporting someone for using a lag switch. It wasn't there was lag, no this killer would pass you and then suddenly they would be behind you again after they overshot. We actually do have it on video and we watched the replay to be sure. We aren't bad players but we aren't the best, but we watched play back and I observed the rest of the match after being killed. Any time the survivors would loop the killer the lag switch would be flipped causing the survivor to jerk back and allowing the killer another free hit or down. They did this multiple times and they gave up trying to make it look natural towards the end of the match to ensure the last two survivors could be hooked. So yes, the original poster is probably not lying.

I know with cross-play there are going to be differences between computers and dedicated gaming consoles so depending there can be lag. I have had other survivors lag me due to their connection, no harm, no foul as when I recognize it I mentally note to try and avoid that individual for the rest of the game when it comes to skill checks as my FPS drops. But there are instances where it does happen and people do cheat.
