Its not, the thing that has slowly been killing this game is MMR.

MMR introduced an idea of "as i win games, i start playing against people who win games more often" so you are basically punished for winning in a sense. And this is in a game where you get no reward for that MMR, there's no ranking system, no leaderboards, or anything.

So it becomes a sweat fest. Because if i don't sweat, then i get stomped on and the game is boring. Thus creating a perpetual cytcle of everyone playing their best. And that results in both sides exploiting the biggest BS they have access to right now.

What the game needs is a proper ranked mode, that has ranks and leaderboards and the like. That way the sweats get want, and the casuals get what they want.

That does technically fall under the things developers add into this game because the original MMR system was light-years beyond better than the current SBMM we have which I did mention in one of my replies

I don't think it'll ever die and that largely trickles down from the top. In my opinion, BHVR does a lot to keep the animosity going. But I do agree that regardless of our perspectives, we should be willing to hear people out. We don't have to agree with everything they say but there's no use being an a-hole about it.

I agree it won't ever largely due to little to no competition but I should word my phrasing of killing dbd is the casual spirit of picking up the game and playing a killer you like that isn't exactly A or S tier. SBMM isn't forgiving either when you put down a game on high MMR then come back to it only to face Navy Seals playing your mid tier killer. But it should also have that casual non toxic spirit that I lost in this game playing both survivor and killer (I miss playing my locker build :[ )

From a fellow Ellen Ripley main, thank you for saying what I've been trying to say in these forums in a much better way. We desperately needed constructive discourse to find common understanding and not constantly stoop to the side vs side that constantly happens here. It just further polarizes and leaves a negative feeling that can bleed into gameplay itself.

Glad to see another Ripley main! I just wish more people would resolve things more calmly than with accusations

What are you, some kind of [KILLER/SURVIVOR] main?

Maybe the [KILLER/SURVIVOR] mains were the friends we made along the way 🤗

I too would really love BHVR to rework Xeno to be more of a stealth ambush killer than a chaser, that way it feels more like Alien Isolation where Survivors would want to hide or distract the Xeno and crap themselves when they're seen. At the very least I'd really like them to make exiting Crawler Mode a manual option. I love the standing pose and it helps a lot to be able to get a higher view point at times. Also would make interaction a lot more fun when you can stand up to tower above Survivors intentionally. When people see Xeno standing up it seems their reaction is usually "Oh good he's out of his power" rather than "Oh ######### he sees me".

That is exactly how I want the survivors to feel when facing this rework. Yes Dead By Daylight is focused around chases but it also still needs that terrifying factor which truly made the alien the last thing you wanted seeing you. The activation for Charging Assault also mimics the Xenomorph stopping in place and sniffing you out hiding under a hospital bed only to drag you out of there screaming

Honestly I don't hear it. Yeah, they both feature strings but… that's it? Houndmaster's far TR music is literally just a creepy strings melody, while Kaneki has a much more frantic string background with a piano melody layered on top of it. Sure, they share the fact that they use strings, but that's sort of unavoidable

I'm not talking about the entirety of the terror radius rather the instrument that was used to create the PTB/Old live layer 1 and if you "study" the music long enough there's one part of the Ghoul's menu theme that sounds exactly like a snippet from The Houndmaster's theme after the main heavy instrumental set. I think the instrument may be some sort of synthesizer/violin(?)-ish and once you know what I'm talking about you can see the similarities

But if you do know what I'm talking about then my problem stems from the fact that The Houndmaster's terror radius got gutted because Michel needed to reuse the same instrument in order to create part of the Ghoul's menu theme/Layer 1 background instrument. Before you argue another reason there really is no reason to gut a masterpiece of a layer 1 for The Houndmaster unless you didn't want people drawing similarities between the two and complain about "recycling" the same theme
