  • I’ve had this problem for months, but it has significantly ramped up since the release of the Alien chapter. Support told me there was nothing they could do and to contact my ISP and steam. I contacted my ISP and even switched to Epic, still had the same exact issues. They wouldn’t reset my timer either after showing video proof of every dc I was having, and the server error along with it.

BHVR, if you can’t fix the problem can you at least stop punishing us so heavily for an issue that is not the fault of your players?

  • Honestly, I've been having this issue for months where i'll crash, even though it's not my internet or pc. like many others i have ran the tests, upgraded my stuff, used wired connections, reinstalled the game, etc. The problem still persists. There have been periods where it's gotten better, but it's definitely gotten worse again as of recently. I even uninstalled the game for a while because it was happening so frequently that the game felt it was more of a hassle than it was fun to play. It's starting to feel that way again. If there isn't going to be a patch any time soon that actually resolves these issues, please consider capping the time for the penalty, or fully resetting the timer after 24 hours, because we shouldn't be punished so heavily for something that isn't our fault.

  • This report has over 30 likes and has players from multiple platforms commenting on the same issues, with the same/similar triggers. We’ve already ruled out that it’s internet. Plenty of people, including myself, use a wired connection, have a good pc, or have have tested connection speeds plenty of times.

If others have troubleshooted for weeks with support and it still hasn’t been solved, it’s clearly not something on the player’s end. It’s especially aggravating seeing other reports that are far less game-breaking receive quicker acknowledgement when it’s very obvious that this is a continuous issue that is preventing people from playing the game AND punishing them for it.

The anniversary is a month away. I uninstalled due to these issues but would like to come back for the event. It would be extremely disheartening to be unable to play it because the developers refuse to even recognize this to be an issue, let alone find a solution.

That’s ridiculous. At this point playing survivor eventually racks up the timer but I can’t even play killer at all. It’s a guaranteed dc multiple times a day. Until I see a statement made by them acknowledging the issue I’m just gonna have to stop playing altogether I think.

Well, I tried one more game, got dc’d, and now I’m at a 6 hour ban. Uninstalled. Good luck to y’all, hope the issue gets resolved.

Yeah I went back and forth with BHVR support for weeks and tried all the troubleshooting that they recommended on my end but none of it worked. It has to be an issue with the game itself or servers and it seems they either can’t identify what’s causing it or how to fix it. Anything you say to BHVR support about the DC penalties resulting from this issue garners the same response of “the penalty system is fully automated, we don’t accept appeals, etc”. I had to just stop playing for a week to reset the penalty.

Unfortunately that’s probably the best course of action if you’re already at an hour long penalty. At least then you won’t start getting hit with the 6+ hour penalties in the middle of the anniversary event.

  • I am up to an hour dc timer because the game keeps kicking me from matches. My ping is fine, my internet is fine, my lan cable that I have plugged in is not loose. Nothing is wrong on my end, I have checked time and time again. Please remove the dc timer until there is a fix for this. It is getting to a point where I’m afraid to play because if I do and get disconnected, my dc timer goes up even more.

  • It’s so crazy to me how ppl say “just don’t 3 gen yourself” “just do one of them” as if a good amount of the killers camping said 3 gens aren’t doing it from the start of the match. I’ve played too many games in the last week alone where the killer sets up and holds a 3 gen from the start.

You are either trying to break a 3-gen at 4-5 gens for 30-40 minutes or you have solo queue teammates pressuring all the other gens just for you to have end up in the same situation anyways once they are done. Regardless the result is the same- killer refusing to chase to hold an area where for some reason gens are spawning literally right next to one another. Fix the spawns and incentivize chases again and the problem is solved.

  • Games like this are gonna suck regardless. But for pipping up in general, personally, I like to run corrupt and no way out for most of my killers. From there I either run something for gen defense or for chase, depending on my mood and the killer I’m playing. Prevents them from really splitting up on 3 different gens easily at the start and allows you to have an actual endgame if you don’t kill them before the last gen pops. With a build like that I usually always gain a pip and even if I lose the match I usually don’t lose a pip. Every player is different though so maybe experiment more with builds to find something that’s a bit more consistent for what you’re going for.

by definition, a chase meta would overwhelmingly benefit survivors, as a killer can only chase a single survivor at a time, leaving three to do gens. Even with a survivor on hook, that would still leave two on gens while one is either getting the unhook or slamming a gen. Sure, the obvious answer is "spread pressure" but in a world with super strong medkits and COH (sometimes, people just don't understand how powerful it is to be able to heal yourself without the aid of another), spreading the pressure simply isn't as viable as it once was, even with things like sloppy butcher.

I think a chase based meta is an awful idea. Because to have a chase based meta, many things would have to change in the killers favor, since things as they are benefit the survivor too much in a chase meta. Changes needed could include reduction of pallets across all maps, reducing/removing pallets that cant be mindgamed, reducing godpallets to one per map, and most controversial of all, increasing gen repair times even further. Simply put, long/extended changes would need to become a thing of the past. All of these changes would be met with uproar from the survivor fanbase

There's also the fact that you can't force a killer to chase you. I'm a killer main, and as soon as I realize a survivor is trying to take me to an area of the map where all gens have been completed, or an area with strong tiles or a strong pallet, I end the chase. Simply put, I don't allow myself to take part in chases where large amounts of time must be spent just to get a hit, or if I know for a fact that survivors can't complete a gen in the time it would take to get a down. Time is the most valuable thing in a killer's game. They only have a certain amount of time to kill survivors before the survivors win, and time lost can't be gotten back. If I can't gain benefit from a chase in a timely fashion, then I simply leave that chase ASAP.

Like I said earlier, a chase meta, in this current environment, wouldn't just benefit survivors. Survivors would be the sole side to get ANY benefit from it. Multiple changes would need to be made in the killer's favor for it to be even remotely acceptable. Sadly, just a single one of those changes would cause the majority of survivors to rage.

I tried responding to this before but I didn't pop up for some reason, so if you get a double response I apologize.

I agree that there would need to be changes, but don't agree with some of what you mentioned. I don't think strong pallets or even more than one god pallet is an issue, rather that there many instances on some maps where you can chain together loops near infinitely. Double windows on extremely strong houses, long wall loops with windows connecting to shack, god pallets into god windows, etc. Regardless of whether or not we have a chase meta in the future, these are things that need to change. Map balancing is vital. Being able to have a long chase isnt (or shouldnt) be an issue, it's when tiles are so strong that no matter who you chase or when, there will always be an amazing resource to utilize because dropping pallets is just flat out unnecessary in many instances.

Medkits are another issue that people have been mentioning for a while. Once again, regardless of the meta, this is something that needs to be looked at. The fact that you believe changes like this are needed for a chase meta furthers my belief that said meta is what would be healthiest for the game.

Personally, I feel as though we have too many gen rush and slowdown perks that allow extremely sweaty swfs to dominate casual killers and sweaty killers to dominate everyone else. Having extremely strong perks on both sides really doesnt balance anything out, just causes a larger gap between sweaty and casual players, and should be looked at. Many of these changes would benefit both sides. Survivors would get more chases while not being able to indefinitely run the killer, and killers would be able to spread pressure around easier, take more chases, and not have to worry about gens flying at the speed of light.

My goal in posting this isn't to induce a change in an environment that stays the same. I want changes that benefit both sides so the average person can start to focus on having fun again without feeling as though their game is ruined from the start.

  • I’m on steam and was in the game until I started receiving matchmaking errors. Tried reloading the game and now it’s saying initialization error.

Maybe don't camp or tunnel? I dunno man people will play how they want but HybridPandas vids brought me to this game in the first place and he always emphasized playing fair. I don't camp or tunnel under most circumstances and believe me you become a much better killer without resorting to scummy tactics. Especially now with so many perk changes people are trying to find a new groove and you're camping and tunneling bro, why?

As long as it’s the best strategy it’s naive to expect people not to take advantage of it. That’s like telling all old deadhard users not to use it because it’s scummy to be able to extend chases for double the time because you pressed a button. The only time this doesn’t apply is if people are taking advantage of exploits. The problem is the developers enable these strategies. Changes need to happen, and until then don’t expect behavior to change from either side.

  • Playing survivor for a lot of people rn is just simply not fun. Killers like legion who can extend the game for 20-30 minutes by forcing people to mend for half the game or sit on gens for 3-5 minutes suck the enjoyment out of the game. Tunneling and camping has also gotten exponentially easier. I know this to be true not just because I experience it constantly but because I do it myself. It makes the game easy. I hardly ever have to try on any killer if I just tunnel one person out or camp someone out with deadlock. I don’t blame people for taking advantage of strategies and I don’t blame survivors for wanting to give up. I blame the developers for claiming a patch was supposed to help decrease these things and instead promoting it with increased Gen times and the DS nerf.

  • Idk who this sluzzy person is but the fact that some of y’all keep shitting on them and their opinions left and right despite there actually being a conversation that can be had here is disheartening.

Yup. Mine is back. Thanks for being on top of this!

I'd say this man. The game will get you frustrated but don't let's others ruin it for you. I've my own beefs with this game, and probably will quit. But all games have their quirks. If survivors being toxic is a factor, you ever played MW2 back in the day? Probably not if you let people get to you like this.

If they are toxic, move on. Next match. I really don't know why killers get so upset over that, on the rare occasion I play killer I find it rather hilarious. Don't take the gane so seriously. It's just a game, and it doesn't effect your life outside of it. If it does, you need to rethink some priority of your life you are taking to heart. What people do and say especially in a game should have no affect(? I can never remember the difference between the two haha) on the life you live outside of them.

The game is busted, But if you are able, enjoy it for what it is, when they SWF or be toxic just laugh because you did enough to make them that upset you got under their skin. Especially in they T-bag at pallets or loops. Often if they pull a window tech, and I've gotten bamboozled, it's super funny especially if they T-bag, rapid click and run away.

Your rank as far as pips doesn't mean anything towards skill level. Enjoy the game for what it is(if you can stay in one with crashing) and learn to combat them better :)

I get what you are saying, but in a game where everything is busted, you can't expect anything to get done when you tell people to just ignore everything and enjoy it for what it is. No, I shouldn't have to nor should anyone else. We get upset at toxicity because in this game, unlike others, survivors can hold the game hostage. And mind you- this is coming from a survivor main. Leaving the game gets you a penalty, so it isnt like you can just skip on over to the next match.

I feel you, to some extent.

    • Killer MMR is very wonky at certain times of day, particularly prime time. This is often exacerbated by the system not handling lobby dodges correctly and massively overprioritizing queue speed. Apparently some of this is going to be fixed at an undetermined later date.
    • Unless you have an elephant hide, postgame chat needs to be turned off and stay off. Yes, survivors (and some killers) are toxic, but the devs have made it clear that they consider being nasty a crucial part of online gaming, and it's their game. Just avoid the exit gates as the killer.
    • Dead Hard is getting changed. Eventually. CoH is pretty busted, but you can somewhat play around it and even occasionally turn it to your advantage (nothing makes my job easier than a Jeff who insists on blessing the same totem 5 times in a match).
    • Double lockers need a fix, and all we can do is continue making the devs aware of it. Boil Over was changed for the same reason - it allows survivors to stall matches out forever with no way to prevent it.
    • RPD isn't that bad. It's a horrible map for both sides. Pallets can be bad, but it's always vaults that wind up being ridiculously gamebreaking.
    • To my mind, the problem maps are MD, Swamp, Badham and Eyrie.
    • The grind is apparently being fixed, soon.
    • Facecamping has been confirmed as an issue, and a mechanical change to discourage it is currently undergoing internal testing, the last we heard.
    • Solo Q will be getting a fancy set of status/action icons to help them coordinate better.

    As to your suggestions:

    • It's not so much the map size, as it is the density and ability to chain safe tiles together.
    • Survivors blasting out the first gen thanks to lucky spawns is annoying, but it's not something you can easily change. More often than not, I prefer survivors to spawn together as this usually gives me a powerful first chase (hint: always head to the furthest exit gates, survivors will generally be on the closest gen to that). It's the survivors that peel off and work on different gens from the get go that scare me.
    • Ingame mic...no. Please no. A robust set of emotes would be much better, all mics result in is me either not being able to communicate or have 2 14 teens from Brazil widdling in my ear for 20 minutes.
    • Yes to map balance overall.
    • MMR is fine, it just needs some tweaks.
    • Yes to boon snuffing. Buff Overcome and Dark Theory though.

In terms of the mics, this is why I suggested that there should be an option in the settings to turn it off if you dont want to use it. Other games include the option to turn the feature off entirely, not just your mic. But more communication is necessary. Additional emotes is a good suggestion though. However, I don't see how MMR is fine. Escaping or dying often times has little to do with what you did the rest of the match. Doing gens, unhooking survivors, chase time, etc. all these things should contribute to a system that determines skill level. Person A doing 3 gens and looping the killer for half the match but dying at the end is still better than Person B who hid in the corner the whole game and escaped by hatch.
