Hits have always been handled on the Killer's side, hit validation only steps in when the Killer has been stunned or when the Survivor is a significant distance away (though the distance is intentionally fairly lenient). In a case like this where the Killer was in fact stunned, the server checks which came first, the hit or the stun. In this case, you can see the Survivor get hit before the Killer is stunned it both perspectives, meaning the stun definitely came second. Since the Killer was not quite far enough away for validation to deny it based on distance either, the hit went through.

It's tricky because while lowering this distance would protect Survivors from more funky looking hits, it would also cause a lot of totally valid hits to be rejected, especially when you introduce things like Coup de Grace into the mix which could make the discrepancy between the server and players even larger.

But to answer your follow up question: No, the match is hosted on a dedicated server, not the Killer's system.

It is understandable that this is very tricky mechanic but in case you encounter killer from far away it looks totally unfair and not counterable. Are there any plans on region / latency issue?

I was suspicious that we'd silently switched back to killer-sided verification, as opposed to server-sided, and this appears to confirm it.

EDIT: THough, aren't killer games always hosted to killer anyway?

I'm not an old player in this game but as I googled and heard they supposed to switch to server client model since 2020 but I think either it is not or it is still partially peer to peer

The point is that Behaviour caved in to the entitled survivor brats and nerfed her to the ground. She is just unplayable now.

This same formula repeats in history. Whenever there is a cool and strong killer that is actually enjoyable to play, the devs eventually nerf it to unplayability. They did the same to Spirit. Her ability is now pointless.

I am currently actually enjoying playing Sadako, but Im sure devs will nerf her as well. Since its not allowed to have fun in this game.

You telling that nurse and spirit are unplayable while nurse is still #1 and there are still exist a bunch of killers like pig, twins etc.

The original design of DBD was fun> balance. While the devs tried to create things balanced, they were far more willing to create things a little overpowered if it was considered fun. Its only really in the last 2 years, the devs have strived for balance and have been willing to nerf things that that have been a staple of the game for the sake of blanch. There are so many overpowered things, and they only change it one at time, that there are still plenty of traces of the old design philosophy. But yes Nurse should be nerfed to better reflect the new direction of DBD.

So it probably was only fun to killer at release and same thing now.

The problem that game designers don't give a fvck about broken killers, doesn't matter it's overpowered nurse or poor pig or twins. They wont rework nurse power ever, believe me.

  • For me personally it even hurts to focus eyes while in nightfall. Imo it's hard to navigate, killer is undetectable, you can easily miss his power activation and apply all of that to new players. How do you suppose to run to save your teammates while nightfall if killer is undetectable and you cannot even see him from middle range? And keep in mind we are not talking about his sick map control and anti loop power, though it is fine for me.

Yep, and it’s awesome. But in all seriousness, it’s not that bad. 12m is plenty of range to be able to navigate.

12m is only enough for one loop, when you need to navigate somewhere on map or move to another one it becomes a problem.

If could you see the killer during nightfall, nightfall would be absolutely pointless. Plus it's really not that hard to navigate the map during nightfall.

    You see killer during nightfall.

if you are having trouble (even though it's not that bad) try either memorizing the map layout or bring windows of opportunity, which is a seriously underrated perk in soloq and completely counters nightfall

bring shattered hope vs. team w/o boons, even with knowing map layout you cannot see if next to you area has a pallet. possible you wasn't there yet or it was already dropped even if you know there should be a pallet
