  • I paid my dues with the new killer and played him back to back. I assumed everyone would be playing him and I'd be chastised for not playing him, so I stuck with him.

But killer queues were quick, as usual. And when I played survivor, maybe 1 in 5 was a Trickster. Everyone had moved on and nobody complained when I played someone else.

Either A) the entire community matured instantly or B) not even survivors cared.

  • "free meal" and "the killer is given" and "any killer [...] should be presented with a challenge"

It's as if the rest of the match hasn't happened and the killer hasn't done a lot of work already. Restart the clocks. Clear the scoreboard. The killer has done nothing and these two players ought to be 50-50. Any advantages at this point would be inappropriate. Am I reading this right?

In any case, this thread screams "lemme hide all match!"

  • Unless I'm mistaken, this got fixed and then reintroduced. Survivors can do something similar at gens.

  • I'm going to interpret 3.000 Americanly and insist that you have at least a week's worth of experience before weighing in on balance.

  • As Myers, I was camping (the obsession) on the hook and then teleported across the map for a gen grab (with Dark Devotion).

Myers cannot teleport, so I was hacking.

  • Also can happen on gens, and survivors will repeatedly use it. Get downed at a gen, can't be picked up, Unbreakable later and finish off the gen while the killer is elsewhere.

    Kinda gross.

  • Once upon a time, I got divorced. Looking back over the relationship, I realized how much effort I'd put into someone who wasn't into it, who took me for granted, etc. Sure, we had some good times, but only because I'd tried so hard to keep everything going. Yeah, it worked for a long time, but it was exhausting.

Years later, I got with someone else who valued me and the difference was stark. Oh, this is what it's supposed to be.

I'm getting familiar feelings here. Sure, it's possible to have fun, but ... wait, this is a game I'm playing. This shouldn't require this much effort, this much psychological self-management, this much tolerance of bullshit, this much concern that my console will burn itself out on the loading screens.

I get where OP is coming from, let me just be clear though.

Winning, even if by a landslide, totally cool no issue that's on the killer player.

Tea-bagging a new killer every time they make a mistake and at the gate, insulting them post game, etc- is just going to make them swap back to Spirit or something next game and bring a mori or something in frustration.

I mean people upvote outright toxic comments sometimes too; upvotes don't mean something is correct or morally right, only that there are people that agree with it generally. Don't take stock in some number, focus on what is being said and why, and address it that way.

That's the key here for me.

We're not worried about folks being bad at a killer and losing matches - that's obvious and it should happen. But it's not just isolated folks being bad at a killer. I'm still a ######### Nurse, years later, and I don't expect folks to go easy on me.

But this is for everyone a new killer, soon to be chucked into the basement with many of the others. We're already steering back towards the meta, and being crappy about these matches just accelerates it.

And we can do that if we want to, but we're choosing the kind of killers we see in the future. By playing the way we do, we select the killers we get in the future. I'm not sure that we as a population are making the decisions this week that support the long-term health of the game.

  • How much time are survivors expected to spend diagnosing their killers and deciding on how much mercy to show? How does a survivor determine which killers should be given extra hits, hooks, and sacrifices? How long do you choose to let a gen sit idle, if the killer seems to be mismatched? How many stacks we toss to Devour, if the killer is struggling?

Sure, I'll often ease up if struggling survivors seem like they're not going to vanish and make this match last forever, but I won't be shamed into doing it more often. What the hell is "sweating," even?

  • Pig's black jacket and greyish head (with ears pointed more forwards than upwards) feel like they help a little, especially on some maps.

  • After months of servicing red-rank groups that require sweat and punish every mistake - I don't feel bad for a vacation, no.

But I'm especially fine with it as the new survivors are ruder and more aggressive than more established players. Not saying established players aren't toxic, but these new folks seem even more likely to send salt and plain old abuse.
