Killers still looking for excuses to say that 70% - 75% kill rates (red ranks) are okay?

You and people like you (who only look at the kill rates and not what leads to the kill rates) need to look into things more, realize what is actually going on.

Keep in mind that the charts didn't take platform into account, nor that survivor ranks are inflated because of how easy it is to reach and maintain rank 1 as survivor.

Problem is, "kill your opponents" is the objective in this game.

Games should be balanced around the win condition, just like those examples you gave. The win condition for killers in DBD is kills. Specifically, killing a majority of the survivors is considered a win.

Pipping is an entirely separate thing. The fact that people feel like they're doing something wrong if they don't pip and therefore equate pipping with winning is a flaw with the ranking system and with the community mindset as a whole, but not with the balance of the game.

Yes, ever since they screwed up the way pipping works some matches feel so anti-climactic. Getting a 4k with Billy with all gens remaining, maybe 1 done, and getting "rewarded" with a de-pip/black-pip is basically the game saying you did something wrong.

Nobody ever said that the game is entirely balanced around killrates. Also killrates and pipping are two different issues. Also DbD isnt comparable to other competitive games like LoL, cause they have on both sides the same initial situation, which isnt given in an asymetrical gameplay like in DbD.

Yeah sure they don't balance it entirely around killrates, but using them as a metric to say wether a killer is strong or not is imo pretty disingenuine, but only because the concept of what winning is is so vague.

Do you win when you kill a certain number of survivors? Do you win if you pip? Since it's a game that has ranks (even if the ranked system is rather shite) gaining pips should be awarded to wins. But you can get pips with 2 or less kills (under certain ranks) and you can lose pips with even 3+ kills.

So sure a killer might be getting kills but that same killer isn't "winning" in the eyes of the game since it's de-pipping/black-pipping. And because of the way the game works - sure the survivors might not be winning either but it just turns into a both-sides-lose situation instead of one wins over the other.

Let's be honest, killers don't care about pipping. They just care about killing more than half the survivors and consider that winning. If the majority of the playerbase considers that winning, then shouldn't the devs consider that as well?

The problem with that is that you don't win by killing more than half of the survivors. If you don't rank up in a game with rank, it's not a win.

  • Yeah, but will the new ranked system be based around kills? In that case it would just be the same as back in the day. And depending on when they'll rework it it might not be pointless at all since "eventually" can mean anything from next patch to 10 years from now.

And I also mentioned that it's better to change the pip system too, and not just the killers/perks/addons/whatever.

  • I don't see any word from bhvr specifically saying "nerf", for all we know it could be nerfing add-ons but buffing her base power so she's less reliant on them.

    Just saying.

  • Double BP: Everyone wants to play killer for easy bloodpoints. A lot of people who normally play killer stop playing killer to get away from the queue times.

After Double BP: The killers who left are now all coming back

  • This post is just one big bag of generalization. You're all talking as if all killers/survivors are toxic. People are toxic, not the roles.

We see more DCs from survs because there's more of them in a match. We also see more toxicity from them because of the same reason. Sure, players being toxic might be an issue to some extent, but so is this circle jerk about "it's not us it's them".

You want to remove maps that are disadvantageous and abuse maps that work to your benefit. Nurses and spirits and even legions often burn a The Game map for the obvious reasons.

Man, I just want to play the game. Vs good survivors you don't get to play the game on Coldwind.

Oh really? I did not know that Survivors can burn Map Offerings. The OP specially mentioned Killers, so I answered that way.

And well, Coldwind Farm is the only Map Offering that can be problematic. But still, it is part of the game. And honestly, I almost never have Coldwind Offerings in my game (of course I am not part of a 4 man SWF that wants to burn a Coldwind Offering and Mist Offerings, so I know that they get burned).

But, like I said, if the Killer wants to have a preferred Map, he can use an Offering. If the OP had a frustrating Nurse game on Coldwind, he can have a new game and wants to go to Autohaven. Easy.

    @NoShinyPony

I dont think that this is needed. As a Survivor I like to have the option to pick a Map (except Coldwind) if I am having a bad day and dont want to end up on one of my hated Maps (again).

And for Killer it would remove a lot of quite viable Options for good/fun builds. Or simply remove the option to avoid Coldwind Maps.

It's not as much about offerings as it is the apparent frequency of Coldwind maps. Over the past 3 days maybe 40% of the matches I've played were on Coldwind, without offerings.

Camping is definitely a big problem on console. I don't get it... camp all survivors, get a 4 kill, but walk out with barely 10k points. Just stupid. On the survivor side of things, looping is an even bigger problem than killers camping. High rank killers usually aren't dumb enough to camp, but with high rank survivors all you see is them running in a circle. Both do need to be addressed though. As a killer I don't camp, and as a survivor I don't loop. It's just not fun.

How does the killer end up with 4 kills if he camps all of them? That should just be a 1k loss immediately

Another game mode like this could be helpful.

Personally I think an unranked option would be good. Only solo in ranked and SWF available in "normals".

It really does not matter, if it would be ranked, or unranked (the only things that should be not touched are Bloodpoints lol). Even if it would be ranked - that would not be bad, as we could "rank" the players according to their skill, so 2 P3-50 killers would not end up with 6 new survivors. Yes yes, we all know how it is right now with the current ranking system, but I'm sure when they implement seasonal rewards, the percentage of players who are smurfing will drop, as they would be tryharding to get said rewards.

That is also true. But I think for that to really work there would need to be a bigger playerbase.

  • They can't do it because of the way lobbies work. They've talked about this before.
