  • I would rather do 100 matches in the swamp than a single map in Midwitch

    1. Hooks don't respawn instantly.
    2. Even when hooks respawn, if all the survivors purposely get knocked down in the same spot, they aren't all in range of separate hooks. And at least one of them will bleed out by the time you can hook 1 of them, wait for them to die, then wait for the hook to respawn, so you can hook the next survivor.
    3. We still have people burning "basement in shack" offerings with badham offerings, then purposely standing in the basement where they literally can't be hooked.
    4. We still have survivors sabotaging hooks, which forces the killer to drop the survivor, and by the time the hook respawns the survivor has moved far away enough from it, and has enough wiggle progress, that the killer literally can't hook them.
    5. We still have slugged survivors purposely crawling away to hide, so the killer can't find them.
    6. We still have games where a killer is forced to slug the 1st survivor because the 2nd survivor is trying for a pallet/flashlight/flashbang save. Then the killer is forced to slug the 2nd survivor because the 3rd survivor is trying for a pallet/flashlight/flashbang save. Then the killer is forced to slug the 3rd survivor because the 4th survivor is trying for a pallet/flashlight/flashbang save. Yes, there are games where survivors force the killer to slug over and over and over.
    7. We still have games where a killer is forced to slug a survivor that has boil over and flip flop, and by the time the killer can actually pick up the survivor, they've crawled away for a hook far enough, and has enough flip flop progress, that the killer can't get them to a hook
    8. We still have games where a killer is forced to slug a survivor that has power struggle and flip flop, and by the time the killer can actually pick up the survivor, they've crawled under a pallet, and has enough flip flop progress, that the killer can't get them to a hook
    9. When all the survivors are slugged, there is often more than one of them that has never been hooked, and it's not safe to hook them, because they might self-unhook and then pick up their teammates. As in, there's a legitimate reason to keep those survivors slugged.
    10. We still have games where 1 survivor can't be picked up, but the other 3 survivors can be hooked, but all 4 survivors purposely crawl on top of each other so the killer can't reliably pick up the 3 survivors that can be hooked.

1.) You know killers have a perk to prevent flashlight and flashbangs right? If this is something you struggle with often enough just throw it in your build.

2.) How are you playing so poorly that every down is somehow near a pallet

3.) You keep saying you are forced to slug survivors. Who is forcing this on you? Outside of SWF groups I have never seen 3 people come together to try to save another survivor

As much as I dislike slugging for the 4k, this kind of suggestion only drags out an already lost game.

What's going to happen is the killer then has to play whack a mole until one person bleeds out, or most likely just camp the slug so you can't get back up anyway.

What's going to happen is the killer then has to play whack a mole until one person bleeds out, or most likely just camp the slug so you can't get back up anyway.

Literally just hook the survivors you down and this is not an issue. Sure the last person might get hatch but you still won.

  • They just released new archives so people are probably working on challenges, and unfortunately for survivor side there are not many challenges that involve working on or finishing gens. Behaviour also refuses to make a separate queue for people to work on archives - so while you may be going in with the intention to play the game and try to win, you may also end up with three teammates who have other objectives they would rather focus on.

Killers are not responsible for survivor player's fun.

    Do survivor players ever think:

    • I won't predrop pallets this game
    • I won't run to main building this game
    • I won't abuse the near infinite in Garden of Joy
    • I won't abuse bugged flashbangs this game
    • I won't try to flashlight save
    • I won't sabo hooks this game
    • I won't bring a cracked toolbox with BNP this game
    • I won't bring insta-heals this game

All in the name of "its not fun for the killer"? No, they don't, and I don't think they should either. But the point is that expecting killer players to care, when survivor players don't care either is ridiculous.

"Not fun for the killer" is usually a mild inconvenience for the killer at best, because survivors can't stop a killer from playing the game.

"Not fun for the survivor" usually involves removing the agency of that player. If someone gets tunneled out before they have a chance to do anything it doesn't feel great. If the killer is determined to slug the whole team and make everyone bleed out for four minutes it also doesn't feel great.

A killer can break a pallet. A sabo'd hook will respawn. You can drop chase to avoid an infinite. A flashlight/flashbang can be recovered from or countered completely with one perk. A survivor gets one (1) more chance with unbreakable and if that killer is determined to slug unbreakable isn't going to help. If you're in soloQ you can't exactly coordinate with your teammates to try to counter a slugger.

Killers are always mad that survivors are trying to survive while survivors are mad that killers are trying to see how many game mechanics they can bypass to win.

This is a very simplistic and emotional way to view it. Killers aren't being 'lazy', 'cheap', or 'skilless' by slugging. They're playing smart (playing to win). I can only assume you're playing at a level which doesn't require you to do that. But some of us do play at that level. Yes, it becomes THAT hardcore. Gens done in 5 minutes or less. All 4 run out, with 2 hooks total. Survivors letting themselves get downed just to protect a death hook teammate or to complete a gen. And this is against high level killers, who are powerless to stop it.

We've come to the conclusion that hooking is no longer worth it, because of all the benefits survivors get vs what we get. With Pop, we can knock 8% off a gen or something, with Pain Res another 20%, and then the gens get done away. But with Resurgence survivors can instantly heal off hook, with Deliverance they can unhook themselves, with DS they get a free stun even against non-tunnelers, and they've still got several hooks to go. Why would we want to bother with all that? Playing into all that would be eating out of the survivors' hands. We'd be playing to lose. So we slug, and circumvent all of that. There's no malice, or lack of skill or game knowledge, in doing that.

Slugging and bleeding out are different things. Slugging is done because its genuinely better to do at this point than to hook because it counters so many of the survivors unhook perks which you see in probably 8/16 total perks per game at the least and then the killer starts hooking once all survivors are on the ground. Bleeding out is just done to bleed out.

What you're seeing now is just killers adapting to the several strong unhook perks survivors have and are choosing to play around it because they want to win. If a killer didn't care about winning as much you would see them hook. All this generally boils down to BHVR failing to balance correctly by nerfing the hook perks killers have while buffing base kit hook options survivors got. I guarantee if BBQ got its BP bonus back you would see killers hook WAY more.

I can only assume you're playing at a level which doesn't require you to do that. But some of us do play at that level. Yes, it becomes THAT hardcore. Gens done in 5 minutes or less.

So it sounds to me like you're playing matches against coordinated survivors above your skill level. If they are getting gens done that fast you aren't doing a great job of spreading out pressure. Maybe you have played killer in such a way that has put you into a skill bracket that you aren't yet ready to handle if the only way for you to win is to leave people on the ground.

What you're seeing now is just killers adapting to the several strong unhook perks survivors have and are choosing to play around it because they want to win.

Survivors are running unhook perks because if they don't, they often get tunneled out. Survivors queue up because they want to play the game and if they are immediately tunneled out, well they aren't getting to play the game. And the killer response seems to be oh lets just leave them on the ground so I don't have to deal with perks and so I can get my 4k that I somehow earned by playing as little as possible.

  • @danielmaster87 said:

These takes are ridiculous. Let the survivors bleed out for 4 minutes, which is not taking the game hostage, or give the killer an incentive not to slug, as in giving actual incentive to hook, instead of survivors becoming Terminator upon hook through perks. Give the survivors a faster bleed-out option.

The reason that killers slug in the first place is 1)^ hooking ain't worth it, or 2) to counter hatch since they want the 4k they earned, because they've played well enough thus far to even be in that position. Instead, the survivor gets a completely free escape through what is essentially chance, and then even if killer closes the hatch, the survivor gets the exits powered for free. Notice how all of these "closing out the match" mechanics involve giving survivors free stuff.

If you want slugging to end, stop making it suck to play otherwise.

The reason that killers slug in the first place is 1)^ hooking ain't worth it, or 2) to counter hatch since they want the 4k they earned, because they've played well enough thus far to even be in that position.

1.) If hooking isn't worth it, bring some perks that make it worth it.

2.) Holding survivors hostage on the floor because you don't think you can beat a survivor to a hatch is hardly "earning" a 4k. I would argue it's trash methods like this artificially inflating the MMR of most killers to a place where they realistically shouldn't be.

  • A killer can't tunnel someone out if their teammates work on gens and leave them on the hook. By the time they enter hook stage two you should have had plenty of time to knock out three gens before trying to help.

I don't play killer often but there have been quite a few games where I hook someone and try to go find another survivor, not intending to tunnel, but then another survivor comes by for the unhook before I have a chance to take 10 steps away from the hook. In situations like these you are just handing a free hook to the killer.

We can blame killers for being sweaty, but sometimes it is your own team that gets you tunneled out. You got 70 seconds on the hook but they want to see how fast they can get you down as if that left over time somehow carries over to the next hook.

  • @DancewithmeKate said:

Better solution will be nerfing tunnelling. They should make DS basekit after both hook states. And if killer leaves you on ground, time will stop.

Tunnelling should not be free and that's easy.

While this is an interesting idea, the problem would then shift from tunneling to slugging after second hook.

Honestly I think we just need to move away from hooks and use cages from the 2v8 event. You can still get tunneled out but at least you get a little bit more of a fighting chance with the cages.

  • Everybody playing the event are thrown into the same queue. Some people just want to check out the new map and play around and be casual while others are turning the match into a sweat fest.

So the people who are hoping for a fun casual match getting paired with the sweaty people running builds to make the other side as miserable as possible, are probably viewing them as toxic.

Tactically not justified in that clip but then neither is t bagging at the gate. Some killers are just not nice people like some survivors are not nice people... I personally wouldn't hump like that but I would slug and go round smashing left over pallets and doors for extra bp. Survivors can hide indefinitely in 2 v 1 situations... Why should a killer be forced into that situation? It is what it is, I have been slugged and I have ensured server end timer. Difference being that slugging isn't reportable as it does have a timer. I'm all for give up option. But it will lead to more slugging as killers would be pushing for people to give up instead of getting hooks or wait for bleed out. I know if survivors started to give up when slugged I would slug more lol.

Also being a survivor main for 2 years I do understand the pains of survivors especially in soloq. But I play killer too so I can see both sides, and more often than not survivors usually bring it on themselves.

Survivors can hide indefinitely in 2 v 1 situations... Why should a killer be forced into that situation?

The issue that I'm having here, is that survivors can't hide indefinitely. If a survivor isn't moving around enough they get crows and then it is much easier to locate them. If the survivors aren't getting crows it means they are actively moving around, and playing the game. Sure they might not be doing gens to escape but they are still playing. Now if the survivors are moving around enough to avoid getting crows it means they can slip up and get spotted in which case you are able to chase and, hopefully, down them.

Often times in post like these killers always tell the survivors if they don't want to get slugged they just need to waste perk slots for unbreakable, as if that one time use perk is going to do anything against a killer determined to slug anyway.

Killers have access to so many more perks to help you find survivors. Maybe just work some more aura reading into you build so you don't end up in a time wasting game of hide and seek.

  • @Berienn said:

Srsly people you need to learn how to play as survivor or find friends and play together. It's only your problem that last survivor doesn't help you and leave you bleeding out. It's not killer's fault that YOUR teammate doesn't care about you and won't help you. It's killer's job to kill ALL survivors and if last one is trying to get hatch then he NEED to leave you on the ground. if you want blame someone then blame devs for creating hatch mechanic like this. Don't blame killer for doing his job.

So what I'm hearing is that it is somehow the fault of the other survivors in the lobby that you are actively making the decision to bleed someone out instead of just hooking them and racing the last survivor to the hatch?

You do realize that a win for killers is 3 sacrifices right? Even if you hook and the last survivor escapes you still won the match.

You could move on from that match and be tormenting 4 new people in the time it takes you to sit there and let someone bleed out.

Survivors are not entitled to a hatch escape the same way killers are not entitled to 4k.

    @UknownShredder said:

literally forced to have some people bleed out because they even burn offerings to know where the hatch is.

Nobody is "literally" forcing you to bleed people out. This is a choice you are actively making.

If I see a killer wasting my time with this garbage you can bet I'm going to turn around and do the same.
