  • DbD are already realising that the game is too convoluted for newer players. Sadly, I think they would not change it (though it absolutely should be changed). It would be too confusing for players who know this 'counter play' for it to be completely removed.

Instead, as part of her (eventual) add-on changes, give her an add-on that, for every swarm repelled via a locker, The Artist gains one token up to a maximum of X, for each token, increase the repel time by Y amount?

It doesn't solve the core issue, but she isn't always played at extremely long distance. Also, the new locker entry and exit buffers are a slight help to her when a survivor is close/mid-range and hops locker.

Ultimately I think this is part of a much WIDER discussion needed around The Artist and her power creep - she is a perfectly designed killer who has fallen behind. Minor basekit buffs, add-on pass (Severed Hand stays as is, Tongue partially/fully basekit), lots of useless add-ons need reworking a la Executioner's add-on pass.

The mistake the devs made last time they tried this was they saw her most used add-ons and presumed they were overpowered, instead, they're the only add-ons that make her VIABLE. Implying they stay as is, and, if you want to endorse add-on variety, the other add-ons have to change.

Apologies, but both of these videos appear to be set to private. Would it be possible to make them unlisted so I can review them?

Hi @ThatRyanB, there is a separate thread that's been made which is a more overarching account of Artist's current problems (which are semi-game breaking), which you can find here:

    @HolyDarky said:

SUMMARY OF THE ISSUE: When Artist tries to place bird on specific ares on the map (RPD, Swamp, The Game - watch the video for more info) they will instant disappear (the game counts the placed birds as used and when you try to fire them off, you get the cooldown for them). RPD has the special issue that depending on the version, the spots are slightly different: On East Wing, crows will also disappear in the chief office and between this and the broken helicopter spot while on West Wing, it only happens on in the main room second floor. Beyond that, if you shoot a crow and the flight path has to go over these areas, the bird will disappear too. Survivors on these spots are also immun against swarms and direct hits. In addition, if you play Artist on either Azaroth Resting Peace or Suffocation Pit, the bird will disappear when they have to go through the walls that are in the map - this happens since this update.

According to different sources, it also happens on more maps (e.g. Hawkins) but I haven't tested it (can't play on every map and test every are and random tile).

    PLATFORM: Steam (PC)

STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW THE ISSUE OCCURED:

    1. Choose Artist
    2. Go on these maps and try to put a crow on these areas.

the last part of the video is from @alizefromhell and @Ramitdown to prove that this bug happens every time when you play Artist on these maps.

This thread has multiple videos on different maps showcasing the issues.

  • Thank you for uploading the videos @HolyDarky

The map edge collision in particular is a sore point. There are not many occasions where we use crows through these 'dead spaces' but it is an integral part of Artist's kit that needs preserving. For example, some edge map zones prevent you from checking exit gates/gens/follow up snipes.

Lery's is one example, the exit gates are small protruding zones from the main map, which means if The Artist is not directly or forward facing the exit gates, she can no longer angle crows to target the gate areas as the edges of 'inner Lery's' will stop the crows.

Not A DEV, and not providing any information, just making a comment here. I'm all for making it more clear that a killer sees your location for the sake of new players. When killer instinct goes off for Wesker/Nemesis infection removal, or Slipstream spreading, or being near Artist's crows, I think the game should give a little notification, similar to that of 2v8 modes reveal warning system. That said, I don't think they should make it so crouching hides you from the crow detection.

I agree with your wider point that a little notification when your location is revealed would be good (maybe as a toggle system, specifically for killer instinct, which isn't aura as we know).

Regarding your comment about the topic - it already is on live servers that crouching hides you from crow detection (apparently intended) - good to know you agree it should not prevent killer instinct.

Could you please attach the logs? Be sure they are taken right after encountering the issue.

    To find them:

    1. Press the Windows Key + R to open the "Run" command.
    2. In the text box paste the following: %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\DeadByDaylight\Saved\Logs
    3. Click "OK" - this will open your Dead by Daylight Logs folder.
      • If it does not open the Dead by Daylight Logs folder, it may mean that when installing Dead by Daylight you chose to save your files somewhere else and will need to check there.
    4. The file called "DeadByDaylight.log" is your log file

    Thank you.

Could there be some further clarification please as to whether it is by design that crouched survivors go undetected from killer instinct when using Birds of Torment?

The Artist's crows will trigger killer instinct when a survivor is: standing, healing, repairing a generator, blessing or cleansing a totem, opening a chest, hiding in a locker, on different floors (within the confines of distance) and when in the dying state. Literally any interaction/state, But we are sure that crouching stops this interaction? This doesn't make any rational sense with how her power works (emphasis on the torment).

I just wanted to say that the stat tracker is not counting survivor abandons as kills. Is this intended? Like if a survivor abandons then it doesn't even seem to count as a kill for the killer at all if you sacrifice the bot. I'm not sure if this is happening to everyone but it seems like a fairly big oversight if it is.

this needs its own thread if true, because that’s hugely bad.

  • I’ve been using it since the patch and it doesn’t work 80% of the time.

  • My killer matches also aren't actively updating - both in the stats and recent match history sections.

  • Artist add ons need a complete rethink. Severed Hands is akin to what Soma Family Photo was for Singularity and that was made basekit (not trying to suggest SH should be basekit but the point is that it’s her most picked and best add on because it makes her as viable as possible). Yet we are nerfing it? Also hearing reports SH stagger hits are no longer possible (removal of skill expression).

Untitled Agony needed a buff, instead it’s nerfed?! Ink Egg is a stealth nerf, Baby Shoes need a complete rework.

Both of Artist’s iri add ons are antithetical to how she should be played - as she is described as a ‘range-recon’ killer. Yet both of her iri add ons which should amplify her core power rely on you being close to the survivors for value?! How does that make sense. Iri feather is still diabolical - 12 seconds of undetectable but without being able to use her power? Huntress has a purple add on that gives 30 seconds undetectable and doesn’t remove her M2.

    I could go on…

  • @Rulebreaker said:

Honestly, we're just happy nothing got nerfed to hell and back.

    they’ve removed severed hands slingshots/staggers 🥲

  • Just a note for the above - initial flight path speed is 20 metres per second not 24.

  • Can confirm all of the above.

The bird acceleration is the main issue as it massively impedes the muscle memory for sniping/follow up crows - she is almost unplayable with this bug alone. Please look into this ASAP <3
