  • I don't know for sure, but probably not. It's not that interesting to me at the moment, plus, I just returned from a 4 year break, so I'm far behind on DLCS. I've also never been good at collecting iri shards because I get demotivated very quickly when playing by myself, and I don't always have the choice to play with others, so at this rate, I earn maybe 300-600 shards per week, if any at all. If I do choose to buy it, one way or another, it's the lowest on my priority list. My priority list is currently a mess because I don't know whether I'd prefer to buy most my DLCS whole on steam, or if I'd rather grind for them in chunks for free.

Nonetheless, my priorities go as follows:

    Deathslinger

Maybe The Blight (I primarily want Felix because I'm also coincidentally named Felix and part German, but I wouldn't say no to play with The Blight a little, y'know?)

Onryo (May just get the survivor because he looks like me, but I find her intriguing, too.)

Wesker (May just get him and not his survivors, because only Wesker gives me the nostalgia, but you never know...)

    Nemesis (Whole chapter, for sure.)

    Dredge (Whole chapter, definitely.)

And the Knight (Probably will just get killer, Vittorio kind of reminds me of something that creeps me out that I can't quite put my finger on, oddly.)

I already have Michael, Doctor, Leatherface, Freddy, Clown, Spirit, Legion, Plague, Ghostface, Demogorgon, and Pyramid Head, all of which I bought as complete packages on steam, so, using Iri shards or Aurics to buy DLC is completely new to me...

No, sadly the killer cant be assigned an AI. Killer is a lot more complex at face value than survivor, so its harder to program. Not to bash on survivor or anything, just that making each one know how to drop a pallet and have basekit windows of opportunity is easier than making a (challenging) killer AI.

But welcome back! I'm sure you'll be please to hear that dead hard is FINALLY dead, and you just barely dodged a recent killer meta that made gens unrepairable. enjoy playing some wesker.

Oof, guess I'll have to bite the bullet and just get back to my original survivor rank, and then hope my old perks and methods will do until I catch up! Did they change the ranking up system by any chance? I plan on trying to get out of the low ranks with as few games as possible, to, hopefully, avoid bothering the baby killers, but last time I played, I found that to be pretty difficult.

Regarding dead hard, I definitely did not see that coming, but at least now my love/hate relationship with it is also dead! Wesker will definitely be interesting, I'm curious to see how his perks will work on my favourite killers

  • I'm deeply unsure. I just got back from a 4-year-ish long break from the game. It wasn't exactly four years long, I did play sometimes, very rarely, for the first year, but not enough to really catch any major changes. Prior to that, I had been playing since release. In a lot of ways, this game means a lot to me. I started playing seven years ago, when I was just about to enter my teens. It was the first game that really, really excited me. I can barely find words to describe the passion I had for it back then. But at some point, it just kept going south for me. First, it was personal reasons, mainly the issue of never being able to get my friends or family to play with me. Then, it was Puppers getting sick. He was my idol. Then, it was the overwhelming toxicity I often received either in-game or in forums (not specifically this one, I'm talking in general.)

At some point, I started disliking the changes made to the game, too. I never liked the UI change, and I still am not over it, years later. Original survivors aren't very interesting to me anymore. I feel like their stories are generally always the same, and their aesthetics rarely interest me. The guy who came with the Onryo actually looks a lot like me irl, face-wise, but he has no interesting cosmetics, so I keep with the good ol' trustworthy Dweet, who has always been by my side.

As for the survivor backstories, I seem to find that, quite often, they generally go with the same theme. "____ ___________ was an extraordinarily gifted child who was x and y , and (insert something, usually a mild-moderate tragedy, to make them slightly more unique). He/she graduated early/with honours, and attended (insert prestigious college.) However, it all went down when (insert tragedy.) Eventually, ______ ______ was unfortunately claimed by the entity."

If not that exact format, you may also find "____ ______ was a black sheep because x y z."

I found that a lot of survivors generally fit somewhere in this format, especially as of the later DLCs. I mean, yes, some of the older survivors did fit in one of those formats to one degree or another, but generally, I felt "the crew" were a lot more diverse and "natural" back in the day. Kate and her passion for singing, Feng and her love for e-sport, Dwight, the underachiever who exceeds expectations, David, the short-tempered but loyal beast, and Jake the wildman. Of course, there are exceptions, but generally speaking, a lot of the new survivors they've released don't feel like real, original people to me anymore. I would list the exceptions, but this comment is already long, lol. However, there are some changes to the game I've enjoyed greatly. For one, the option to visualize the heartbeat in-game has helped me a lot because I was born with poor hearing. I'm definitely much better as survivor now than I was before that change. However, killer is still difficult on the hearing aspect. Secondly, I like that they added bots. Crossplay is a feature I still have mixed feelings about. Nonetheless, I'm completely at a crossroad when it comes to this game. There is little to keep me interested in the long term at the moment, aside from my fond memories of the game, and the hopes of something new to come.

TDLR: I'm at a crossroad because I can't tell if I love the game, or if I love the idea of the game.

  • I stopped playing shortly before you did, and also just came back. I don't have much to add, but I think they may have changed the graphics. Everything looks blurrier now. I can't make out people's faces anymore, I could have sworn the game was sharper back in the day. They also added some toggleable accessibility features, which, for me, were nice. And they added bots in custom games, but it seems these bots can only take the role of survivor and not killer, so, you probably can't practice survivor by yourself. I hear survivors are slower now, but I don't know that for sure.

  • I'm really struggling to find the words that are running through my mind right now, but I'll try my best. Firstly, my condolences to all of his family and friends, who have been with him throughout all of this. Max was a warm soul who left an imprint on all of us, and will not be forgotten. I'm not sure how long I watched him for, but I've been a fan of DBD since the pre-release days, so I guess it has been quite a few years. Puppers was my one and only favourite streamer, no other streamer could ever compete because he had an odd aura of kindness about him that I never really saw anywhere else. He made a great impact on me and how I perceived the game, so great, in fact, that when he received the news of his diagnosis, I was so upset that I stopped playing the game, because whenever I tried to, all I could think about was his health. I was in the first stage of studying to become a doctor, so, I knew the exact prognosis, and, well, you know...

I planned to return to the game, but as his disease progressed, that became increasingly difficult, because I always knew what things were most likely to come next. Eventually, once it reached a certain point, and I still hadn't played, I vowed to myself only to return to the game once he had passed, so that it would be all over, and he would be "okay" again. Around the same time, I stopped watching the new streams, and rather watched the old vods over and over again. I have not been up to date at all for probably 2 years.

Recently, I suddenly found myself launching the game again, as well as wanting to pop in on the next stream for the first time in a really long time. For a couple of days now, I thought I had broken my vow, but, as it turns out, unbeknownst to me at that point, I returned to the game exactly on the day of his death. I only learned that just now. I don't know exactly what to make of that information. Coincidence or an odd intuition, I don't know what caused my sudden impulse to return at that exact time, but what I do know is that I will always think of him and honour him when I play. <3 Thank you for the awesome memories throughout the years, Max.

  • I mean it's magic or whatever, but here's something I've been thinking about for like a year:

Legion gives like no sense if you think about it. Because Legion is made up of 4 teens. Frank who is 19, and the rest aka Joey, Susie and Julie who are like 17-18 (can't remember). Compared to most of the survivors they're literally just stabby kids. I mean yeah, they have knives but the survivors who are usually full grown adults go through hell and beyond every trial, they can easily just have one survivor disarm and pin down whatever legion member they found themselves getting into the trial with and tickle them for the remainder of the match or whatever they please to do with the knife wielding sad excuse of a killer while the rest do gens.

And some may argue that Frank is a legal adult, yeah he is, but like the brain your muscles do not fully develop until you're about 23-25 years old, so legal adult doesn't mean he has the physical strength of an actual adult. And Frank is not even really well built either- Like it could give a little bit of sense if he was a buff teenager but he isn't, I bet his girlfriends surpasses him in both height and weight- Alright enough roasting Frank, but what I'm saying is realistically he'd (and his crew) only really be able to win If they ended up in a lobby full of Nancy and Steves. Even if the legion all entered a trial together, if the survivors were any grown survivor like Claud, Meg, Dwight, Jake, David, Bill, Ash, Feng, Jane or literally any other survivor that's not a teen they could all just grab a legion each and do whatever they want to them.

But "I mean it's magic or whatever" explains why that's possible as well. But the legion is the entitys hilarious mistake imo

  • I've actually been thinking about this myself, years ago. It would be a very fun option to be able to play as yourself. Of course, if you'd use it to actually make yourself trolls will probably call you ugly to piss you off in pre and post game chat, but still, it would be neat. I fantasized about having my own character when DbD first came out because of how much I was in love with the game, so it would be a blast if devs released something like this

  • I receive hate in chats quite often. Pre game and post game chats. In pregame I typically tell my teammates if I have any perks that would be beneficial to them to let them know that if they get in x y z difficult situations I will be there to save them if they need it, and the typical response for that from at least one teammate is "######### nobody wants or needs you here". Often that person does get in x y z difficult situations that I told them I could help them with but since they said they didn't need me I listened and go on with doing other stuff like gens and then they typically get offended in post game because I said in pregame I had the resources to help but didn't when they actually got in that situation. And also killers often mean I should give them free kills because we're below a certain rank and then give death threats and stuff. I've never received much hate as killer, I've only been made fun of because of matchmaking and stuff, and so I don't play killer much. But hate is a very regular problem in dead by daylight, for both killers and survivors. If it has gotten very severe on one of the sides it's probably best to switch to the other side for a bit

  • Honestly, any indoor map. I'm a bit controversial here but I quite like the corn map. It has a lot of open space that is perfectly sized for me to run killers on because as of right now I'm not good at thinking strategically when in a chase, so my main defense against killers is 360'ing and stuff like that and that easily causes me to crash into trees and other objects and totally screws me over. It is rather difficult to see there sometimes, but I've gotten to know the map very well over my career on dbd. Indoor maps just typically do not offer that open-ness that coldwind and other similar maps do that allow me to 360 as I need to until I get my head out of the toilet and stop going on instincts

  • Maybe devs could add an option for no swf or no full swf team? But also like other comments have stated it's likely that then most killers would just choose that option and then people like me who play swf just to play with friends and not to gangbang killers would either have nowhere to go or we'd only get the killers who are toxic as hell because they expect toxicity. Still, I get you man, but for balance's sake there's probably nothing we can do right now

  • @LALYTHIA said:

Just because it's not against the rules doesn't mean you should do it.

And the devs are questioning it in the player survey, which stands to reason they're looking into it.

They are? Hmm, I guess that's good, I'm still mostly focusing on the fact he did it already at the start and most likely to purposefully hurt us in the system by holding some objectives hostage, but perhaps a solution to less facecamping in general would be nice in preventing that as well. Because usually when survivors can hold objectives hostage it's via a bug or glitch which is why I'm looking into this so much, killers can easily just do it by facecamping

  • No Mither. I rarely see anyone use no mither for good in my games. The killer knows they can get up so they're picked up immediately and they're always a 1 hit, easy target if you don't run it right. As for the other perks, I don't really care. I run self care myself and I prioritize unhooks if a survivor is hooked, then we heal together, and most my teammates do the same. Plunderers instinct survivors I meet like to bring helpful gifts to me and the team, which often helps us right there or then or later on, urban evasion survivors I don't mind either, and DS and Bond aren't bothersome either, bonders know where I am and DSers can take care of themselves when things are rough.

No just tired of entitled people camping killer give you time to finish all gens or get really to so not finishing gens has no excuse after that open gates and leave camping buba isnt going to let you get ubhooks no matter how much you think you deserve them so just get out sometimes you aren't going to get a bunch of points or pip when killer gets gen rushed they get crap point killing and chasing is part of their way of getting points but sometimes survivors deny it that sucks but o well move on to next match

What have you been smoking my dude? Entitled people and entitled people, is it entitled for me to think he should actually be playing the game instead of just sitting there refusing to be a killer? 45 seconds in the game he downed a survivor, no gens were done, yet he facecamped. And based on how he acted the rest of the game and in post game chat he did this so that no one could actually play the game and progress, so that he could laugh at us and screw us over in the system and based on his offering he did this knowing it could potentially hurt his own stuff, his offering protected him from that. I don't think I deserve to get an unhook, or to get out or to do anything for that matter but what I am saying is I think there should be a report option for people who purposefully don't play the game only for the reason they want to try and limit others game progress to screw them over in the system. Survivors are made to survive, and killers are made to kill, and when either of them don't do what they're supposed to to keep the other side from doing what they're supposed to so that they will be screwed over I think that should be punishable. That's literally all I've been saying

If he face camps you I believe the killer will depip and not rank up especially cause he’s not doing his objectives properly, he should be actually letting survivors unhook or kicking gens and chasing survivors but if he was doing that I believe it would be reportable in post-game, I wouldn’t think it is punishable though, especially cause how would the devs know how to stop it if you are actually wanting the killer reported, but there are little reports you can do on post game, so if you deal with it again maybe report it for unsportsmanlike? Or trolling?

i wouldn’t know especially cause this rarely happens to me. Killers like that just want to play unfair and not actually have fun and let the survivors enjoy they’re experience, trust me when I say camping or face-camping isn’t fun so he’s just ruining the game for himself.

Indeed he will, that's why I'm saying doing it even at the cost of his own objectives. He had an offering to make it easier to do what he did. Screw us over systematically at the cost of his own objectives. That's why I'm very sure it was his objective that he planned. I did report him for trolling because he did that as well. That's why I made this thread. I doubt the devs will actually do anything about doing what he did, even if he did it to deny us bloodpoints and playing the game etc.

He probably was, but he was trolling me on the hook at least so he must have had some laugh about our pain, and he left a few comments in post game trolling about bloodpoints further indicating it was his intention to keep us from our objectives

You confuse not piping with can't pip. Your situation went south. If people had played smartly, you could have done well in points. You don't need altruism or chase to keep from depipping. Escaping gives a lot of points. You can't escape if you don't get gens done. Once gens are done, he has no place left to catch anyone, but at the gates.

We are trying to help you understand the reality. If you want to get through those situations when they happen, don't play the killer's game. I get that it sucks for the person being camped, which is why I think it is a ######### tactic, but you have to adapt to the reality of the situation. Don't get mad, don't get frustrated, don't let him get in your head. Focus on the tasks, and try to get out in one piece.

Well, I'm gonna be honest with you, maybe it's because I typically spawn with the killer up my butt but I typically depip if I don't get two unhooks, one chase and perhaps a stun. And honestly I prefer sacrificing myself for teammates. Honestly I have some sort of mindset issues when playing, I make huge decisions way too quick. But still, I did do gens, I played about as smartly as the other long surviving teammate. We both made our mistake in assuming the killer would hook the other guy and not have a campfest. But still, there was no way we'd get all the gens done by the time both were dead. And we would most definitely depip even if we escaped and he knew that. I know, because normally I actually do all the gens whe the killer is a pure facecamper and then leave and I depip, in this special moment it was important for me not to, because the game before screwed me over emblem wise (I got no emblems at all, which I think was a bug, because I did a gen, got a save, got in a chase and stunned the killer) and since he was not playing the game I forced on some evader points. just got stuck over there when it happened and was left totally unable to play the game. all i'm trying to say is I think it should be punishable to some degree to use facecamping or any other tactics from either side to try to keep the other side from doing their objectives and or getting any bloodpoints

  • @Champagne said:

I don’t think it should be punishable, only because it’s a strategy for killers to use and help them win a game. If survivors can flicker flashlights and teabag then killers should be able to face-camp, besides it would not be considered toxic if a killer does that.

the killers job is to kill all 4 survivors No Matter What, if you don’t like it, here’s what I do. I take it as a compliment cause I’m to good for the killer to wanna go against me so he wants me out of the match. Also if it bothers you a lot just don’t let it get to you and move on to the next match, remember don’t let 1 match bother you a lot cause there is plenty more.

no, I don't mean it like that. I get it, but the thing is the killer was sort of abusing it (ot sure if that's the right word) though I failed to express it.

He didn't want us out of the match or to get a 4k really, he was using it to keep our objectives from us whilst abandoning his own. He knew he was doing this. He was purposefully keeping us from playing the game by not playing the game himself and taking that risk. He was doing everything in his power to keep us from our main objectives and keeping us from getting bloodpoints. It was very clear he was doing this knowingly. His intentions were most likely to have the entire team depip by taking away the option of our most important objectives and or give us horrible bloodpoints. I mean that if you use facecamping (or anything else, survivor methods included) to screw the other side over in the general system there should be a consequence

  • @PeteBloodyOnion said:

Well hate me if you want, but when I'm a rank 17 killer with average perks sets and ,despite a playerbase of 23 000 players, I'm constantly facing SWF teams of rank 2 to 6 players with all reds perks that constantly teabag me. then yes I will just focus on 1 and will make sure to ruin is game.

    Is this fun?

    Nope

But having red rank survivor carrying a team of lvl 15 survivors isn't too.

nah man, when playing killer that happens to me too pretty much every time. no shame in tunneling someone being an arse to you to ruin his experience back. But that's not what I'm talking about in this thread. This leatherface facecamped from the beginning less than 45 seconds in and did everything he could to deny the entire team of fulfilling certain objectives and getting points from it. it was very clear that pretty much his entire intention was just to screw our objectives over even if it meant screwing himself over. He seemed prepared to do this and I'm very sure his ultimate goal was either to have the entire team either derank to screw us in the system or get very few points. I don't mean facecamping or camping itself should be bannable, although it can be a scummy move, i'm just saying that if you use this or any other method to try and keep the other side from doing obectives and getting bp as well as trying to force a depip or not allow them to play the game there should be some sort of a a punishment

  • Hmm, I never used balanced landing before the nerf ( or after tbh, nea has remained untouched for a loooong time) so I can't comment on this, but I wouldn't disagree if they were to bring it back. It looked more fun back then, and stagger can be a huge problem sometimes so

You have been away for 6 months, so let me fill you in. Several months ago, the developers nerfed a key killer perk, because they claimed it was being used too frequently. It was being used frequently to combat an underlying problem with gen times. Killers tried to offer alternative suggestions to the devs, but they were ignored. Killers have since resorted to relying on other perks and strategies, which is why you see a lot more killers running with Mori's and NOED, as well as slugging. Some have resorted to facecamping, as well. As long as people feed into it, there is no reason for them to stop. Fortunately, the facecampers are still only a small percentage of the killer community.

yeah I get that, I know of the ruin nerf. those reasons are why i'm struggling especially nowadays with how killers are acting on top of how the survivors in yellow are as well as my rustiness. it's just he wasn't doing it for the kills either, he could easily have achieved a 4k with the first slightly dumbish survivor in the first one, but I'm still 99% sure he did it like that only to keep us from getting benevolent and evader points, because no matter what he would not give us a chance to get any points in those specific areas, and those are key areas for survivors, he definitely knew that

  • I mean, personally i use it as a greeting towards survivors and friendly killers, and on rare occasions teabagging a cosurvivor either while they're getting mori'd or after they've been mori'd, dced or maybe bled out. I might use it to get killers attention if I see my teammate struggling, but I don't have much practice running killers for long (6 month break, playstyle generally immersed at least at first) so that's more for future use. I don't think they should do anything about it. It's kinda stupid. I get that a player taunting you is annoying, but devs shouldn't try to do anything about it. What would they even do? probably something that would screw survivors over against certain killers. If a survivor teabags you to annoy you, be an arsehole back. karma. and if a killer Is an arse to you, teabag when stunning them. karma

I don't think it should be punishable, some times when I get really mad with these swf groups I try to camp one of then, but it's so boring that I go chase the others. Also he literally just minimize his bloodpoints with it. If you want to try you could use borrowed time to save someone when all gens are done so you can earn some altruism points too

sadly I didn't have borrowed time or anything. I'm not saying camping should be punishable or anything, if a survivor pisses you off purposefully and you just want them out of the game you should camp for a bit, especially if there are few gens left, it's just in my opinion it should just not be possible to do that to keep the other sides from doing objectives without a punishment, even if it's at the cost of some of your own objectives

I think it should be a reason you can report someone, if they prevent you and your team from playing, or other way, if swf survivors keep you from playing by using methods like these

  • @USELESS said:

Actually if a killer facecamp, he is giving you the game if you are not the one on the hook. You have a lot of time to do gens, totems and maybe even a pause for a lunch

we did, or well, I did, but it came to an end eventually. but that's not my problem with it, in the game he was keeping most of our objectives away from us. as long as a survivor was hooked he refused to chase or hook another downed survivor. we were only allowed to have one objective emblem and that was lightbringer. everything else was minimal. no benevolent, minimal evader, and minimal unbroken for the most of us. he basically refused to play the game. and based on how he acted in game, and in post game chat, as well as when it came to his perks, addons, offerings this was very likely his goal. to try and possibly make us depip from lack of objective progress as well as minimize our bloodpoints. that's what I think should be punishable, though I worded it a bit wrong, I meant that trying to force a depip or getting in the way of the other teams bloodpoints by using methods like these should be punishable

  • @illusion said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1233064#Comment_1233064

Yes, almost impossible. If you are depiping as often as you are piping, then you are doing something wrong. Killers depip on a regular basis, but not so much with survivors.

We do know what happened. You have explained. You did gens until you decided to be altruistic. Your words. Being altruistic against a face camper is folly, as i said before. Especially one that can one hit down you. If you were doing gens and other team member decided to go for altruism, then you should blame them. There are smart ways to play, and not so smart ways to play. Being altruistic against a facecamping Bubba, is not smart. If all 3 of you had stayed on gens and finished them, the game would have had a different ending.

I don't defend facecamping. I think that it's kind of scummy, but the killer is punished for doing that, provided you don't feed into it. Your team did. Hopefully you learned a lesson. Unfortunately, you can't count on your teammates do what they should in that situation. I run kindred specifically so people can see whether the killer is camping or moving in a specific direction. When I see people feed, it is frustrating.

Maybe I am, but if so then everyone else I know who plays the game is too. It's a 50/50 or 60/50 considering I do progress, same with my friends

And yes, I decided to, but I didn't actually do so because I realized I was getting nowhere and decided I should do what I needed to to keep myself from getting screwed over completely by the killer. So I did not get downed trying to save. I let him die while I fixed my own stuff, while being nearby. Maybe I should blame them, they did probably ######### us over considering they only laid there under the hook while we were doing gens, but we wouldn't have survived either way. I went over there to get some evader points by hiding close (he refused to even try to chase when a survivor was hooked) so that I wouldn't depip and then game went on. We were all killed eventually, all suffering the same fate.

I do get that facecamping doesn't usually get you optimal points and I do guess that can be considered a punishment. I guess that one teammate fed it, but he didn't know what was in store. I should mention, haunted grounds was active, he probably did ######### everything over more than it should, because who would save against a camper when haunted grounds is active?. And it is rather scummy, but the fact that annoys me is he did not try to play the game in any way, which also did not allow us to play the game. He just trolled us and like I said, based on in game interactions, perks and post game messages most likely did all this to have us at minimal game objective progress and bp. I run kindred too, it's great, but I'm practicing a new build on my main and can't fit kindred in. Kindred would probably have been good in that situation. And yeah, especially in the low ranks. I took a 6 month break recently and went all the way to rank 16 again. I was rank 12 before, rusty now, but still, I could rely on teammates doing more smart gameplay back then

It's almost impossible to depip as a survivor. Giving up on doing gens to be altruistic vs a face-camping Bubba, is pure folly. You need to adapt to the situation. If he is face camping, stay on gens until they are all done. He will depip, you will not.

And stop saying "You don't know, you weren't there". We know very well what facecamping is and how it is done. If they are facecamping, you know exactly where they are, and can work in peace. I almost always run kindred so everyone on my team can see that he/she is facecamping. If I am on the hook, the rest of my team better be doing gens. I will hold on the entire time, to waste the killers time. If someone else is on the hook and being facecamped, I will stay on gens. I know exactly where the killer is, so I can run from one to another without concern, as long as my hooked teammate understands the situation.

BTW, you have no idea what his intentions were, so claiming to KNOW that he was trying to depip the team is pure speculation. It's more likely that he was waiting for people to be altruistic and down them too. Or he was just trying to depip himself, which is what would happen if you didn't feed.

"Almost impossible" dude, maybe me and my friends pips are broken, but I depip just as much as I pip, same with my friend, and I might be a ######### rusty player right now, but my friend sure is not. it goes up and down all the time on both of us all the time. And like I've explained about 5 times, I did do gens until the rest of my team went over there to see what was happening and things just went from there. Only one guy attempted altruism and he got slugged. The other two of us did the best of the situation until it had to end.

You do know why I said "you don't know", right? The other person claimed to know what was going on in my game. Which they did not. And I'll say it again, you do not know what happened in game because you were not there. Throughout the game he showed clear intentions to discourage getting any kinds of bloodpoints or any actions that would help towards any objective emblem. He also left comments in end game chat further indicating these were his intentions. It was clear that in game, perkwise, and post game chat it was almost definitively his intention to deny certain emblems and objectives even at the cost of him depipping himself

A ban would be far too severe of a punishment, but I think it would be wise to make it a detriment to their BP gains and objective completion toward their rank if they use this tactic. It's absurd that a killer can do this and walk out of a match with over 20k pts if they aren't a complete potato.

yeah, I guess you're right, but how else would a punishment work? I mean it should be reportable, it would probably be way too difficult for the game to guess whether the killer is good or just doing what he did

well bubba king of the campers wasn't having it that day so you had 3 options. 1 do gens take what point you can get and leave 2 have borrowed time and hope they have decisive strike 3 throw yourselves at a multi hitting insta down killer you chose wrong if you depipped thats you you and your team

I didn't depip. I did number one for as long as I could, but there was no way we were leaving. And for the 3rd bloody time, I didn't throw myself at the killer. None of us did, but of course he found everyone eventually. I did the best of the situation, what I'm saying is that it's absolutely wrong for a killer to be allowed to screw all of the survivors over in the system by keeping 3 of the objectives away from them to purposefully minimise their bp and have them depip on purpose without any consequence

Survivors trying to meet their objectives is not greedy, for the record. It's one of their main ways to generate BP and pretty much required to PIP. Off-hooking is an intended mechanic of the game for both sides.

That's what I was trying to say all this time. Thanks for saying it a bit better

Yes, I do think face camping should be punished.

People will (and probably already have said) that this is your fault for "feeding" a camping killer, but the onus does not lie solely on survivors. The best recourse to this activity by a killer (namely insta-down killers like Leatherface) is to do as many gens as quickly as possible and let your teammate hang, unfortunately. This is YOUR highest chance of survival and even with that, it's highly likely 2 people will die and everyone will get terrible points, maybe even depip.

What I dont like about it is that it completely ruins the match for at least one person. It's a waste of their time. Its completely inconsiderate. And, as you pointed out, it disables all the other survivors from meeting their objectives and getting any points while rewarding the Killer. As much as people like to say that it punishes the killer by giving them crappy points, the opposite is typically true. They get decent BP, even if you don't feed them, but maybe don't rank up. Maybe they even depip, which only helps them use this tactic against lower rank teams who don't know not to feed the killer yet. They get rewarded for it more often than not. And continue to get good BP - the main currency of the game - while hanging out in mid ranks. So why not? Especially when the rank system is so broken, it doesn't really matter what rank you are.

This is only going to get worse, as at least survivors now have a chance to pop a gen or two during the first chase. With map changes, chases will end quicker and you can only realistically complete 3 gens over the course of someone's lifespan with concerted effort. So, you can't expect any improvements on this with the addition of the coming patch.

Your best bet is to focus gens and leave your teammate. It sucks all the fun out of the game, but it is what it is right now.

Yes, we did do that actually which I forgot to mention. The thing I also forgot to mention which you also mentioned is the depipping thing. The thing is that this killer was not out for the kills, his objective was actually to make the entire team depip. It was quite clear. He knew what you said. Terrible points and maybe even depip. He purposefully disabled our objectives to keep us from getting points while getting loads of points himself. Most people here really don't want to believe me to be honest. I myself did not feed the facecamper. I think that that exact behaviour should be punished with like a weeks ban or something, so that only the scummiest of players will do it and it will be much rarer. I think it's pretty rare already, since I've only had 3 killers like that in my 9 month time on dbd, but half that and it becomes 1.5.

I did actually do as good as I could with gens and stuff, didn't make it out but that's no bother. I'm just angry that facecamping to force bad points and depips should be punishable yet it probably isn't

    Don't get hooked, problem solved.

I mean yeah, we did that for as long as we could, obviously. But you can't go the entire game without getting hooked in that situation. We all had to die at some point. Not 100% what this was about anyways

No You didn't have to go for a save do gens and get out he clearly didn't stop you from either he didn't try to make you depip you are not entitled to free unhooks nor are you entitled to unhook in the killers face nor are you entitled to more points than what you already earned doing gens if the killer isnt gonna allow a save especially a bubba take the hint and leave

My entire team was getting boned. I wanted to do what I could, I couldn't do 3 gens on my own in the situation that happened right there and then and I didn't try to unhook either, I made the best of the situation while being nearby. And like I said, you were not there, you did not see the game, his only purpose in the game was indeed to try and make the team de-pip, it was very clear. I don't think I'm entitled to anything, what, you think I mean that he should just let me win? No, but I at least think he should play the game himself to give us a chance to play as well. He could easily just have slapped our arses by hooking the guy he downed on the hook that was literally less than like 12 meters away from the first one and camping them both if we wanted to camp but he chose not to.

  • @KingFrost said:

Just disconnect when that happens. Killer gets no points from you, and you go get something to eat or take a bathroom break. Eat the 5 minute penalty.

In general that is good advice when killer does that, but not quite fitting in this situation. I didn't quite get the point across but he was purposefully trying to derank and depip the team by keeping certain emblems away from us, so it would still get him what he wanted. He didn't just want the kills, he wanted to screw us over pip and bloodpoint-wise

So Your whole team chose not to do gen and leave but throw yourselves at a multi hit insta down killer thats dead set on camping sorry not sorry you beat yourself the killer gave you gens you had options to play killer did nothing wrong

no. I did gens. Another guy did gens. But in the end it was decided it was time for some altruism and so we went over there and tried to work around it until we had to leave. and then the process repeated. And you do not know that, you were not there, I did not fully get the point across but the killer was purposefully trying to force a de-pip on all of us. That's what I mean should be punishable. Using facecamping (or anything else a player can do to be an arse for that matter) to try to force a de-pip or derank on the other team by holding certain emblems hostage from them. Because dead or alive most of us would have de-pipped because of the parts of the game that he did not allow us to play. And it was clear he knew he was doing that. I'm not angry because he killed us that way, screw it, kill me however you want, I don't care, but I'm slightly pissed at the fact that he was purposefully keeping us from getting bloodpoints and emblems and purposefully trying to screw us over in the system and that that kind of stuff is probably allowed in the game

  • @Dreamnomad said:

According to BVHR, nothing wrong was done here. If you are dealing with a blatant face camper like this then pretty much the only thing to do is focus gens. If you try and run up for a rescue then you are just screwing your whole team over. But the person who was downed should be able to crawl to the other side of the map and get healed if the killer refuses to leave the hook. If you get knocked down and just sit next to a hooked player then that's on you.

But do I think this is the way the game should work? No. No I don't. I think it's a game design flaw. I also think slugging and looping are poor design as well. None of these things are accidents either. They very intentionally made the choices to make DBD the way it is.

I didn't start the thing, it was an altruistic team. Just saying, I myself did not screw the team over in your opinion. I'm not speaking on behalf of what I did, I did what I could to make it as much of a game as possible. The thing I was trying to get across is he was keeping or trying to keep us from playing the game, every single one of us. He didn't do it for the kills, he did it to puposefully keep us from getting emblems and bloodpoints. Though I'm not sure I got that across in the post I'm trying to now. I mean, getting emblems and bp to progress is pretty much the point of the game, and I think that if you use facecamping (or any other method) on all survivors you find like this to try to force a de-pip on all survivors (which is what he was doing) that it should be punishable to some degree.

  • In my experience, wraith and bubba.

Wraith: for some reason I am suddenly having difficulties explaining why. But in general, I guess it's because most wraiths I've gone against have just not been good. Always camping and if not camping they've been chasing me all game (by all game I mean literally all game) in cloak which then did not give me any evader points and then causing me to depip because I couldn't do anything but get chased. And also wraith's playstyle does not match with mine, typically if I get wraith all my perks are just trumped and useless.

And bubba, we all know bubba. 9/10 bubbas I've gone against have been toxic as hell. facecamping every single survivor until they're all dead. just trolling in general etc. Though I don't mind the killer itself, his abilities are fine and don't trump my style, my problem with him is the person behind him who is usually the scum of killer dead by daylight

oh, and huntress. hitboxes always screw me over with huntress, but if that gets fixed I have absolutely nothing against her, most huntresses aren't that bad in my experience.

  • I chose a new gamemode because I've discussed this with someone else before. Not necessarily to freshen the game up but me and some other guy were discussing an offline gamemode where you could play as killer or survivor and it would be against AI. It would be for practicing when matchmaking won't stop screwing you over when you're trying out as killer for the first time or when you've taken a long break and are rusty. It would have 3 game settings: easy, medium and hard. It would be an entire trial with AI just for practice and you would either not earn any bp at all or only 15% of it. Fake trials, essentially.
