Either OP is playing on AU or AS servers, matchmaking is giving them rank 1 teammates despite being rank 20, or they're lying. Something is really off about this post because survivors at the start of the game are clueless and get curbstomped by killers.
I'll clarify if I can.
To me, "Gen Rush" is find a Generator repair it.. sneak or walk to the next Generator until the team has completed all the generators hit the Hatch or the Gate and get out.
The question is really just that... Do you "Gen-Rush". I've played Survivor and found myself in matches that in 3 to 4 minutes the gates were open. This is not because I had any real effort applied, I was a brand new player. The whole effort was clearly on the other 3 players.
After a few matches I chose a male character.. lucky or something... Not knowing what I am doing, ( don't even know the character name ) I played it until level 10. For all those matches, I entered the game, searched for Generators and got a few short moments to attempt to repair it. I've been chased and slayed, hooked, camped and otherwise spooked. It was fun for a really short moment but it quickly grew old.
I then started playing the Killers, each one in turn to see which Killer I might like and played them each to about level 10 (ish). But with my lack of knowing what the heck I am doing, I rarely found any survivors to chase. I assume the ones I found were just as new as me. The player levels grew and my choice of Killer wasn't clear yet so there I am getting players levels but not even sure which Killer I'd be half-ass-decent at playing.
It wasn't long before I found myself being in Matches where the Survivors were never seen, completed the match in under 4 minutes and I'm standing there wondering to myself "Why did I buy this game of "hide-n-seek" ?.. I'm not finding fun in Survivor because of the speed of which the game is over, and I am finding fun in Killer because the speed of which the game is over. ( not entirely true.. I am still playing.. but differently ).
The only way I have found any sort of pleasure as a Killer is in chases ( because of my low skill level ).. but the matches have mostly been with players that have thousands of hours into it, they are player level 1 to 10,.. all purple perks, and most have flashlights... so If i ever see one of them, I am blinded or if not blinded by the player then by a generator trap.
The end result is the same, the Generators are done in under 5 minutes total... So I thought i'd work on a Survivor again. I'll surely get found and hooked ( sorry team ).. but my experience is the Killers never really pose a threat... even when the matches are with people level 1 to 10 and there I am a measly level 20 or 17 in a match with a killer level 5 or so, or there I am in a match with survivors level 1 to 10... the end result is the game is over in less than 5 minutes either way.
So... question remains.. Do you Gen-Rush.. and why ?... seems to me that some or most of the fun is with chases.

Yes, I do gens as Survivor. Because that is my objective.
This wasn't a question, I know the Gens are the objective. I can't make the question any more clear or simple. Do you play it to Gen Rush... is their nothing else in the game that's happening that makes it interesting to play, or are you solely focused on speed runs to see if you can break a new record. ?

Friend, if you think survivor is easy at the beginning of the game , you have a lot to learn.
Killer is way easier at the beginning, so unless you ranked up quickly or are facing nothing but smurfs, I gotta say this post is suspect.
My experience was Survivor was easy. Playing with 3 others, those Gens were done really fast and each subsequent map I played on was the same ease of play. Not because of any skill I brought, but the skill of the team players. OFC your mileage varies, but that was my experience.

I bought the game as a hold-over... I'm waiting for another game to release.
But for me, DBD is a lot like watching a movie you know you don't like... it reminds you why you don't like it. The concept is basically Hide and Seek and has potential to be so much more.
My current dislikes are:
SWF's doing Gen Rush and exit ... all in 4 minutes, while I rarely ever get to see them until the gate is opened and I watch them escape.
I get matched with much higher players, rather than a match that suits my Killers level and perks.
I get "Disconnected from Host" so I get no shards for leveling after a game is over... Win or Lose.. I still lose.
I have to travel huge Maps for a glimps of the backside of a Survivor that most times will crouch, hide, and 360 me then blind me and do a crouched body block while their buddy does another 360 and blind me...Okay it's part of the Survivors tool set, but if the game is only fun for the Survivors in that match then atleast 4 of 5 people got a smile out of it.
So I keep playing... to remind me why I dislike some parts of the game and I wait for my favorite game to release.

Would be nice to choose another Killer, aside from Trapper when hunting Bots.

New to game and new to forums, and i've been posting this very same thing for 2 days. All the while, we have the Survivors posting how they don't like things that Killers do for points and even suggesting "Participation Awards" for those survivors in an SWF that get caught and hooked and face-camped.
-
@ Seraphor
I just don't agree with you.
But lets say that what you posted works... What do you suggest for those SWF's that leave a killer little to no option but to face-camp, else get yet another Match with SWF's ( with Mic's to communicate my GPS ) and shut me down from ever getting a chase, a hit, a sacrifice... because they are SWF's after all... they already have the Gen-Rush and GPS on my location... By your logic, Killers should get Participation Awards for just being in the game, roaming around and watching the Gen-Rush happen without ever seeing a Survivor.
Seems to me you might consider that SWF's always have the advantage. So if a killer doesn't want to waste a Match just looking for any way possible to get points...Killers are going to Face-Camp the weakest of the heard and body-camp, and Mori, and any other tactic they dream of to get on an even keel with the SWF's.
It's enough that Killers have to deal with SWF's but then to penalize them harshly for dealing with SWF's for culling the heard is obsurd in my opinion.... and then rub salt in the wound by giving out "Participation Awards" to the SWF's weakest player.
-
"It's not a massive amount, but then, you did get caught by the killer. You shouldn't be majorly rewarded for failing, but at the same time, you should be getting compensated for being failed, by the killers poor tactic and your teammates inability or unwillingness to try and save you."
@ Seraphor , I have to wonder if you have a clue about what you just said there.
Participation Award, much ?

There is easy solution. Tremendously loosing POINTS for FACECAMP.
So system recognize, if killer is staying next hook more then is normal. Because that is what facecamper hurts most... loosing points. Facecampres usually take BBQ + surv.pudding (or smt else for boosting points). Change my mind but killers ALWAYS GET points faster than survival. Take points away from them...
I'd accept that. IF SWF's are eliminated completely. You can't have the advantage of SWF's without a penalty and penalize the 1 Killer against a team of friends that communicate like GPS on my location, without a bit of disadvantage too.

I'm pretty sure the people that face camp don't care about negative emblem progression or rank. Its something that does nothing but ruin the game for survivors and discourages them from playing the game. Now if there were penalties for face camping that were more severe maybe we would start seeing less of it.
You are right, I don't care about the penatly for face camping, But your wrong about face camping doing "nothing but ruin the game for survivors and discourages them from playing the game".
Here is why I do it: I am playing against SWF's with mic's to communicate, body block me, tea bag and mock while I have Zero control over who I get matched with and little to no points or fun chases to participate in. So, when I tunnel to catch just one of 4 players that tea bags me then I face camp the snot outta that player for being a part of a SWF that clearly has the advantage... and if the bait works ( it usually does ) it brings the rest of the SWF in for the save and I finally get some basic attack points... else, I end game with as little as 1k points and all survivors go free. I am not ashamed.
As for ruining the game for Survivors because I face camp?...hardly. Like Wolves do, we Killers choose the weakest link in your little 4 player friends team and sepperate them from the heard... knowing that sooner or later the SWF ( with Mic's ) will come to the rescue and body swap the Hook ( rinse and repeat ) until I screw up or I kill them all. Doesn't it sound more fun to save your friend from a Hook and chance death, than to Gen Rush a map... get zero chases, zero heals, zero blinding etc. ?...All the while the Killer shares in the bit of fun and everyone benefits.
As for a more severe penalty for face camping, if my bait-n-hook plan works... we all played the game with decent points, if it fails the only people that benefit are the SWF's ( with Mic's ) that seek to cry about how their little SWF didn't win that Map... cry me a river... I don't care.
Give me 3 other Killers on the Map with me, we don't even need Mic's... and THEN come here and cry about how your little SWF failed and how to hate face camping.

I´m red rank solo survivor. About 70% of the times I´m just playing vs tunneler proxy-camper tryhards that need win at any cost.
Can players that just wanna have fun, loop, avoiding gen rush, and play nice have a casual mode? I´m pretty tired of tryhard killers abusing the Solo Q with camp tunnel tactic. There are also really good killers that don´t need to cheese their victories and are able to win splitting hooks, but thats not a big percentage unfortunetely.
So behaviour don´t wanna deal with Solo Q unbalance and makes the more dirty strats the more effective plays....Well, at least just give us a casual mode where people is more focused on have fun than on "winning". People usually forgets we are not playing tournaments or playing for money. Just for fun.
You're a RED rank player. You were a "tryhard" to get there. You say 70% of the time you play is with tunneler proxy-camper tryhards and tired of tryhard killers, abusing Solo que players with camp tunnel tactics.
Did you just assume that "70%" or did you actually calculate the number based on the actual time you spent playing as a tryhard to reach that RED rank ?... Did you factor in, that the Killers may have to be that same "tryhard" to gain points because too many of the games are Survive With Friends with Mic's that coordinate against 1 killer without communication with others ?... Did you consider that too many of the games being played are SWF and Killers are looking for tactics that actually work to offset SWF's and maybe you as a RED rank player are just caught in the mess that SWF has created ?
Kudos for your efforts to reach that RED rank status, you likely earned it as a "tryhard" and you should be proud, really !
But asking for a Casual style play from the game makers isn't going to change what the SWF community has caused the Killers to adapt and overcome as a "tryhard".
If this game would make one change, eliminate the SWF's communication... 4 players coordinating against 1 Killer, all of them with Mics's for assistance, then I would agree with you and make a "Casual" style game mode.
We both know it isn't going to happen.

A stiff penalty for players that DC might work. As a Killer, the DC means I don't get points for doing my part with 1 less survivor, and I imagine that Survivors feel the pinch when 1 of them DC's... so, penalize the DC player with a penalty where they can't play the game for 24 hours after a DC like that.

Match Making is horrible for Killers too. Not only are new Killers being matched with seasoned Survivors, but also, Seasoned Killers are being matched with new Survivors.
I take the Horrible, Lousy, Fair, and Good matches all the same. Some games are skewed towards the Killer, Some are skewed towards the Survivors and until matches are made that are based on the character level and not the Players level, we will continue to see the forums explode with the subject.
-
Folks that call you a "tryhard" are attempting to insult you. You've been making effort to get a kill or survive a match but failed and the person is adding an insult to injury.
If you are a "tryhard" then be proud of it. At the least, you are trying to improve and not simply disconnecting mid-game, or crying over losing a match when you gave your current best effort.
Wear the tag as a badge of Honor.

Being new to the game, I've found that it is sometimes necessary to stay close to a hook or "face camp" and also to "body camp" those that are down.
Here is why:
1) 4 players hiding the entire game
2) 3 to 4 players all very seasoned and don't miss any skill checks.
3) 3 minutes into the game, all 5 generators are completed and not one Survivor is found, at 4 minutes the game is over and they all escape.
4) 2 to 3 Survivors body blocking a Killer when a player is caught and hung so they can rescue the Survivor.
5) 4 Survivors that actually work together on Mics to keep the Killer from getting any win plus various annoying 360 turns, constant looping, blinding, distractions etc., the game is made for Survivors to Win.
SO, when a Killer gets that one moment to get a break and catch some points, yea, I'm going to bait the other Survivors to come rescue and take down as many as possible... or at the least, get a basic attack on one of them before the game is over.
If you got caught and didn't like being face camped or body camped as bait, then join the rest of the Survivors in all the multitude of benefits it provides as a Team on Mics and don't get caught.
It's frustrating for Killers too... especially the horrible match making.

There is no such thing as " survivor vs killer balance", since there are two drastically different types of survivors: soloQ and SWF. In general any competent SWF will stomp any competent killer, unless the killer's skill is by an order of magnitude higher that that of SWF. And any competent killer will stomp any competent soloQ survivors, unless their skill level is by an order of magnitude higher than that of the killer. So there is an abyss worth two orders of magnitude of skill difference between soloQ and SWF. There is no way a "survivor-killer balance" can even be defined in this game, you can only define "soloQ-killer balance" and "killer-SWF balance", only those separately can make any sense.
This was never a question. I agree with you.
Too late to chamge the Title of my post. It comes down to Match Making being really crappy.
