and have you read further than the first sentence?

i literally said above that this chapter was the first in a very long time that features actual gamebreaking bugs (latency will always be an issue. and while it definitely was a problem with the All Kill Chapter, i would not go as far as to say it was gamebreaking. annoying would be a better word to describe them), so you listing gamebreaking stuff that was added this chapter really adds nothing to this discussion.

regarding character design, you are aware that BHVR is forced to use whatever the license holders want them to use, right? every character you see ingame has the seal of approval of the Resident Evil license holders.

but don't act like there aren't more bugs than everybody pretends there are

i am not. i actively acknowledged the existence of bugs. i merely stated that a good 99% of them are not gamebreaking bugs, as the comment i commented on wanted to make it look like. and the ones that are gamebreaking are on the top of their priority list and get fixed relatively quickly.

and don't tell people that they have no right to be outraged.

i once again am not doing that. i am however saying that they should stop needlessly hating on the devs, as is the case with this entire discussion we are in. ######### like this is the reason the devs stopped communicating with us, because some people just can not understand that, if they have issues, they have to give CONSTRUCTIVE FEEDBACK.

"haha lol you all suck and should be ashamed!" (as is the basic statement made in the OP) is not constructive feedback and helps literally no one. in fact, as already stated above, those people ended up shooting themselves in their own foot with this behavior, as the devs response was to further cut communication with us.

"annoying would be a better word to describe them"

Survivors were getting hit around corners, through pallets, and through windows they were sprinting 5 feet away from. That's not "game breaking" to you? Stop being an apologist, you are embarrassing yourself.

but the game isnt "breaking in half" every update?

thats just people like you overexaggerating the bugs that came in. are bugs annoying? yes. thats why BHVR constantly releases bugfix patches to fix them. and those usually come out exactly one week after the chapter dropped that introduced said bugs. plus its very rare that we actually get something thats literally gamebreaking (such as the performance issues from this chapter, which, btw, has been acknowledged as a high priority issue that they are working on fixing (for reference, the first fixes for that issue dropped a week ago in the very first bug hotfix)).

and of course said hotfixes wont get rid of all the bugs. some bugs take much longer to get fixed than others, due to them being much more complicated. you cant expect them to immediately know where the issue is and have a fix for it ready within the first week, thats not how this works.

Of course the game is successful when it never had any real competition and it draws fans of multiple horror medias.

first of all: the only ones at fault here are the ones who didnt have any such ideas before BHVR. They just found a gap in the market and filled it with a product that, despite their early believes, turned out to be a huge success.

secondly: the game got competition over the years.

Friday The 13th - The Game

    Last Year: The Nightmare

    Home Sweet Home: Survival

just to name a few. and yet, despite being such a "abnormal buggy mess" as you called it, somehow Dead by Daylight has survived every attempt at competing with them with ease. If the game really was as horribly bad as you like to make it seem, then i wonder how it did that?

now, i dont want to make it sound like the Devs were perfect.

They are rather slow and sometimes its quite obvious they put quantity over quality (cough a Binding of Kin cough).

But saying they were incompetent / wouldnt care about DbD / wouldnt deserve to be proud of their creation is just absurd.

"the game isn't breaking in half every update"

Have you seen the state of console for the past three months? These performance problems that have persisted since cross play started? The fact that people crash when trying to use Nemsis' power? That there is a literal untextured hole in Nemesis' arm? That literally half of the characters added in the RE DLC don't even look like the characters they're supposed to be portraying?

Let's not get started on last chapter's bugs, back in February + March, where the game was broken for a literal month and a half due to horrible desync when the new survivor animations came out.

I love this game, and I play it to death, but don't act like there aren't more bugs than everybody pretends there are, and don't tell people that they have no right to be outraged. They're upset that something so unique, that they love, has been such a dumpster fire for a while now.

Should the devs be proud of what they've achieved with licensing and game design? Yes, absolutely, and I've been enjoying the anniversary event so far.

  • I don't personally have a problem with it conceptual-wise; I think it's fun that survivors have a dodge ability, and some of the wacky things that survivors can do with it make me laugh a lot.

However, in practice, I will say that I ######### despise dead hard for the invincibility frames it gives you. Survivors can just dead hard while standing against a wall that they ran into on accident because they weren't paying attention, not move anywhere, and still just take no damage.

That's really my only complaint; it shouldn't make you invincible; if you make a mistake and dead hard into a wall, or you dead hard too late, the killer shouldn't be punished for it.

Overall, I don't mind it as a perk, I think sprint burst is better, and I'm addicted to smash hit.

  • Interesting. I'll have to test this; thanks for the heads up!

ps4 seems to be worse off at least compared to my experiences. the main triggers I have are exhaustion perks, certain killers using their power, and of course the good old fashioned sloppy butcher. That survivor clip was probably the first time I was teleported a significant distance. I may lose distance or get turned around from time to time. Never ever have I been thrust 10 feet into the killers face. It was certainly an out of body experience

I play on PC only, but this thread has me really concerned for the health of the game. I know RCPD crashes weren't just confined to console, PC players were having it as well. If there's anything you need us on the PC side to help with, just say the word.

Nemesis, Twins (I don’t mind them but majority do), Deathslinger, Legion, Spirit, Clown, Freddy, Hag all suck to go against, and most of them are extremely common! I haven’t seen an Oni in weeks, not sure why freaking Legion is more popular than one of the most powerful killers

    Bait.

  • OP, I would recommend that you play a bit of survivor.

I play more killer, and while it is undeniably more stressful, I think it's more rewarding. Survivor is usually a very chill experience, and killer is the more buckle-up role.

Your matches will get better with time. I'm approaching my first 1,000 hours, I can definitely tell you that the game gets better. I complain about this game to my friends (who also play it) all the time; it really is in kind of a ######### state for the past three chapters, especially as of recently.

However, the laughs I've had while playing keep me coming back. My only recommendation is to change your mindset, while you're still learning, to that of chase-focus; get better at chase first, then focus on balancing chase time and patrol time. If you focus less on getting kills, and treat every game as a learning experience, it's very tolerable. I know it sounds stupid, but just take it one match at a time.

If you want easy matches, you should play survivor then, on the killers side The Doctor has left a message for you:

Thank you for offering nothing constructive to the thread. Honestly, truly, I was waiting for somebody to come in and post that image.

Then break the wall(s). If you dont break the Walls and complain about Infinites, I dont really know what to say anymore.

You seem to miss the part where this is a bullshit mechanic, that nobody asked for, that slows down a killer's momentum and removes pressure from the game. And they HAVE to do it, to make certain loops counterable? Yeah, bullshit on that.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/258916/hurry-up-and-buff-nemesis-please

Just learn to play him. You can’t just be lazy and demand buffs on already op killers. That is why you see so many red rank killers without skill. They never had to improve or practice. It’s a huge issue in dbd now, as you can see on this forum.

What the ######### are you on about? You can’t just come into a discussion and call the “entitled” card just because somebody made a genuine point: Nemesis is weak.

You are punished for using his power, and the optimal way to play is as an m1 killer, which is bullshit and boring and weak.

  • He has to hit a survivor three times to down them with his power.

Survivors get a speed boost each time you hit them, including the first hit (for contamination) that does not take away a health state.

His zombies are RNG and are terrible - you can juke them by walking behind a tree and standing still while they are chasing you.

The fact that there are four vaccines means that you can basically negate Nemesis using his power in a chase four times at the beginning of a match; four times that you can reset the killer's pressure and progress in the match to zero.

Are you... okay? Did you get tunneled and face camped by a Nemesis player today? If you want to vent, I understand, but at least be reasonable and talk about it directly, instead of claiming that a killer doesn't need buffs when he's basically as bad as Twins on their release (no offense to people who main Twins, you are wonderfully wacky individuals).

  • Years were shaved off of my life while I read that.

  • Dude it's a fake sun created by an eldritch god in a video game. If you're getting this upset, you should be looking forward to the map rework, because you clearly need to get some sun.

Yeah it really doesn't. I can show you a game that has a UI that takes up more than 50% of the screen if you like. People seriously need to stop being so dramatic. Yes, it's not a favoured update, but it's not as bad as people keep making it out to be.

No. You're wrong. The update is pretty bad.

  • Dude just stop, the hitboxes are so broken that the game is literally unplayable. I have two shadow plays from a match alone that a nurse hit me from over almost two pallets-length away. Don't lie.
