  • well what do you suggest they use then?

all gen defense perks decimated to garbage.

scourge hooks very high rng dependant.

other perks nerfed or not even worth it unless niche situations.

  • I don't understand the players that only think that the only unhealthy perks are the killer ones and refuse to even think that maybe their own perks or items are also not healthy for the game.

Finishing games under 4 mins is also not healthy for the game.

It's been quite the opposite. Generally your pods will be down all the time if you only put them at gens. If spreader throughout the map properly you can hit most survivors. If they emp, they'll just hit again by a different pod in the right circumstances or you teleport before they can pull the emp off

I'm glad it's quite the oppossite for you not what I've experienced myself. That said. Point stands the power is very high risk and moderate reward in a game where you can lose up to 3-4 gens before you could down someone specially with todays meta.

Nerfing MFT would affect sales for the new chapter, doesn’t take a genius or spreadsheets to see the motivation behind it.

And yet their hand was swift to instantly nerf the new killer addons.. clearly something isnt really adding up here.. alot of bs. The perk is problematic and more so with the combination of hope. This is another example why dh was a constant battle in this community. This is no exception this is the new DH and in combination with hope only makes it worse.

  • Very weak in chase if the survivors hold an emp.. you're most of the time using the pods to "patrol" gens.. it's very high risk if you try to use pods during chases and miss but if you land is rewarding but not worth it considering gens are flying nowdays.

Made For This is something we are going to be monitoring, for right now we don't feel that it needs much change - it will continue to be monitored over the coming weeks.

Lets put the masks away, shall we? you're not obviously nerfing it (AS YOU SHOULD DEV'S) because more potential sales on it just for the perk.. I'm not gonna spend shards for it knowing it's bound to get nerfed.

Also why did that perk was allowed to get released like that? it's very problematic to give survivors move speed for literally getting hit in combination with a perma 7% on the end game is just terrible combo for most killers.

I would like to think that somehow bhvr would learn a little bit and avoid more DH perk situations but no.. I wonder how broken nicholas cage perks are going to be just for the sake of boosting sales.

  • or people pull the "solo player" card every single time..

remember before nurse was nerfed? "but you can't do those changes to perks or killers because nurse exists"

It's crazy later on the game gets stale and people will totally go back to talk about tunneling..

  • @C3Tooth said:

You dont. You're not supposed to get 4k every match.

with this logic I could say:

survivors shouldnt escape under less than 4 mins specially extremely efficient and coordinated ones and while they escape they BM as much as possible to throw more salt on the wound.

Also by saying this you only re enforce tunneling and reward it. Because people go against the rules if possible.

As for the thread. They would need to change the baseline game or add more elements to escape. The dev's maybe, maybe not already tried adding different things but as usual they didnt like how it turn out to be.. so the game suffers as result.

  • It will be a never ending circle.

Every single time they try to nerf survivors in a way the good ol' "but can anyone think about the poor solo survivors?" card pops up..

Now people on one side keep demanding more nerfs to the other side because their own teammates DC or they give up on the hook.

More buffs wont change the mentality of some players. It's insane to think that more buffs and information to one side will change certain players MENTALITY in every game.

Apparently for now the game needs human killer players. But I don't discard the option that at some point BHVR could totally release a bot as killer and 4 human survivors.

  • I'm sure they will my prediction it will be like this:

    • Deadlock now is removed after a survivor is downed. The perk goes in a 35 second cooldown afterwards.

Just like they did with corrupt intervention.

Whilst I appreciate your comments, your suggestion to Pain Res would actually promote slugging more than healthy gameplay - it does not promote the killer to ignore the unhooked person, it just encourages them to slug that person.

You have the stats. The gens are gone if the patch goes like you announced it. You can't kill whatever is left of gen defense while leaving gen speed and toolboxes/addons complete untouched. The terrible "buff" you're trying to make everyone else cope with on pain res is terrible. The entire idea of survivors taking long to heal was to stop making games end before 5 mins.. you reverted the heal changes as expected but kept the massive nerfs to the gen kicking perks that killer had left after the old patches killed most of them. I do wonder if you sometimes play against real efficient survivors and not really incompetent ones that can't finish 1 gen and everyone die at 3-5 gens.

By all means keep pleasing one side, see how that will end up for the game.

  • I don't see anyone specially survivors that were extremely emotional at the healing changes on all popular social media making a stand for gen defense perks to be reverted or anything. I'm sure they will say something eventually.. /s

  • Pretty SURE MANY MANY people dont say it out loud but I'm sure they would LOVE if dbd had no killer human players and just bot killer. Making it a game to buy cosmetics and bully the non living hell out of an AI.

  • Already taking a break on month 3.. so this next patch and with these changes complete killing gen defense and leaving toolboxes untouched gens are gonna not fly they are just GONE vs efficient survivors.

So there is that. If the current killer playerbase enjoy the game after the changes more power to them and keep enjoying the game!

  • Enjoy the gen rush meta with resilience and the usual perks and toolboxes since they didnt even touch toolboxes at all..

There's 0 excuses to not escape unless you're just intentionally not looping or not pressing m1 on the gens.. considering that gen defense got decimated and nothing got changed.

  • I hope killers are ready for the gen rush meta. Since gen defense was killed on most fronts survivors only have to bring the usual perks without caring too much about healing regardless..

  • The problem with changing from kills to hooks is that now you're back to gens flying.. they would need to change the gen speed slower or yet again buff the gen defense perks that they are killing now and they killed before. Or they could add more objectives for survivors before escaping to make them stay in the trial longer.. otherwise not much point in coming out now and say: "we now want hooks over kills.."

  • the game is a balance nightmare.. the dev's are only making changes every 6 months because reasons and too few perks are getting changed.. lack of constant balance is a big factor for a game like this.

no good ideas to improve the base of the game.. (which probably they tested with alot but THEY didnt like it) basically they are the ones making people leaving in the long term here..

what could bring back people? well remove the mmr or make a competitive/quick game mode, show mmr on competitive mode.. put rewards for competitive mode and let others decide.

  • I personally REFUSE to support any company that makes a bad job in my eyes. If it's not fun for me, if I don't enjoy it I will not buy it. You do you of course.

  • If people isnt willing to let go of the current meta.. then why are some of you so against killers tunneling or camping? which by the way tunneling will be more efficient if they kill the remaining gen perk regression so.. it's a pick your poison situation here.

The DBD community seems not fully aware that there needs to be nerfs to both sides and not only one to keep the game alive. But as I said on another thread.. the entire foundation of this game fall apart a while ago m1 on gens, pre drop safe pallets + gens fly. Survivors letting other survivors die on their first hook, giving up on the first down, DC, sandbagging each other for hatch and so on..

You can't have the game in this state anymore.. for both sides. Or just rage against every single change and let the game go into a friday 13th the game situation eventually will die out slowly but surely..

  • gen rush meta = more tunneling encouraged after gen regression perks were decimated it will be more about endgame if the patch goes like this.

  • isnt the anniversary patch in 3 months from now? unless they decide to shake the perks soon it will be for the next 3 months which so far it will be 6 months of this meta..

  • It's not a coincidence that people specially killer playerbase currently face the same issue as most of them.

Maybe people should stop with the passive-aggressive answers and think why this happens and why it's almost every time the same points.

I've been not playing this game for 2 months almost and will continue until I see the next perk shake up. Bored of playing that style dev's want me to if I want to win otherwise I give full control to other 4 randoms that will make my time on a video game miserable for their fun.

I'm waiting for the perk shake up again.. this meta (the current) will go for 6 months until the anniversary patch.. they need to happen way more often every 30-90 days top.

  • The game has been out for years. The perk shake up changes arent frequent enough. The game has been optimized the hell of out if by both sides. The dev's wanted more kills over hooks. 12 Hooks isnt realistic vs good/efficient survivors. MMR made the game like it was an e-sport but only a really small community cares about competitive. Last 2 killers design were really bad 1 decent perk that will be probably nerfed out of 6 in 6 months. Massive security issue that has been for years that still havent been fixed

This is the direction dev's have been taking the game to. Pray to whatever gods you believe for the anniversary patch because pretty sure the game can't handle more bad decisions.. after sadako the game has been on a steady decline at least on steam.

  • Do you think survivors wont take the chance if they can finish all 5 gens under 3-4 mins and leave? some would most probably wouldnt because they want a "chase" while also escaping at the end.

Now do survivors have any sort of mercy when the killer is doing really bad? with mercy I mean slow down on gens or something? not really. (no I'm not talking about pity kills here or hooks) it's clearly a fail on mmr system as a whole

Both sides are trying to win, both sides are using what they can to do so. And if survivors or the killer dont want to win how do you even communicate it? how the killer knows if the survivors arent on a swf or not?

The expectations and the mmr system as whole is broken but what is most broken is the design of the game why? because of the perks and how long the game has been out. The game has been already optimized the hell out of it.. you know when survivors are extremely efficient and it's a loss game just like survivors know when the killer is totally going for a win. What can be done about it? probably not much at this point.. constantly balancing perks help here stale metas are killing this game slowly, more objectives for both sides might help as well.. this is just a few examples I want to write here I wont go too much deep because I think some of you get the point.

The game right now needs perk+game balancing MORE often every 60 days or 90 as late. Not 180 days. But bhvr decided to hire more people to do cosmetics.. so figure it out I guess where the priorities are at..

  • The game design as whole is falling apart. 12 hooks isnt realistic vs good survivors let alone efficient survivors.

  • if we only had a PTB to test and leave feedback to prevent this..

    IF ONLY...

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

hey dev's still trying to tell us that the chapter wasnt rushed or anything?

  • bhvr: why killers are using the same perks every game?

    also bhvr:

I don't get it.. the chapter is already not great and these changes do very little sense in general.

  • I'm sure survivors are going to enjoy the gen speed more after eruption is gone.

  • nerfing a boring designed killer that encourages 3 gen gameplay.. and we're getting another one in some hours..

yeah how about they just get creative again and design better things? or even better shake the meta every 1-2 months..

  • As I said in another thread and I think almost everyone knows this.. sometimes the queue system prioritizes FAST games OVER FAIR games.

The system sees some players taking too long for a game = find any player, no matter the skill. As long as the game gets going the system can do those things.

  • Devs dont want to use mmr numbers as bullet for elitism/toxic behavior but they are killing their own game like this. Players have tools such as hidden profile to avoid toxic people and complete hide the endgame chat or simply just press continue when the game finishes.

Mmr did more harm than right at least for killers.. you can't put killer players that are trying to LEARN a new killer with very high level survivors because nobody wants to deal with players that are playing as if their lifes depend on it or for a $10 gift card just to later on complain that the killer used the tools they have to win the video game.. come on.

The entire "we dont want players to use their mmr number as bullet for toxic behavior" is flawed and makes little sense when the game is currently in a very unhealthy and unfun state due to mmr and lack of constant balance. And players arent to blame here they are using the tools dev's are giving to them.

  • Sorry but the fact that the entire playerbase has to endure another 3 months of this meta along with this killer release and then you hired more people to create more cosmetics. Who is gonna buy your new stuff when the game is literally unfun to begin with?

Alot of data and information is needed sure. But what is the reasoning in not making constant changes to all perks in general? you can't have half a year of this meta and come out and say "we can't balance too often because we need to see each case individually" by doing this then it turns into an excuse at some point. You're opening yourself to come and use the "we simply dont have too much hands on deck or time for the amount of killers the game has.. sorry" then either slowdown the killer/chaper release from 4 to 2 and stabilize this mess otherwise hiring more people for cosmetics isnt gonna do much in the long picture if the game is unfun for both sides.

  • My guess list is: CoB (nerf from 200 to 150%) overcharge (nerf from 200% overtime to 175%) deadlock (from 30s to 25-20s) lets not forget that the combo PR + DMS got a nerf with the new qol they are making so it sounds more "realistic" when hooking survivors.. smart survivors were already not working on a gen when a survivor was being carried now that pre short scream before being hooked will give that information even easier without losing those seconds of not touching the gen currently.

What purpose would this actually serve other than encouraging elitism? One person's opinion is no more valid than someone else's just because their MMR is higher. Both of you are people playing a video game, we should be doing what we can to ensure that both of you have a good time. To say that only someone who's among the best in the world should have a say would imply that the opinions of the vast majority of people playing in the middle of the pack don't matter, which is incredibly selfish.

I really can't begin to stress how rare it is for someone to be near or above the matchmaking softcap for MMR. Far more people claim to be 'max MMR' when in reality, there's nowhere near that many people up there.

That said, that's what the community team is here for; to take feedback from everyone, including the people who are up there.

Well hope the message reaches soon enough the game is on the most unfun state it has been since "SBMM" has made into the game.. complete stale and the new killer wont help it either. Refusing to release a quick mode (like overwatch) or normal mode and a competitive mode where you can throw all of this e-sports you're trying to toss on the playerbase easily and the rest can do whatever on normal games, show the mmr on competitive mode.

Dev's did change the rules of the game once it wasnt about hooks anymore but kills but before that introducing the MMR system to this game.. still thinking to this day and beyond that it was not good and wont be good for the game mmr. Before people would complain about "bad" survivors now people complain that they dc or they give up on the first hook or down. What did it change? to me seems nothing has changed and made things alot worse.. but of course you guys have the numbers..

  • if the incapacitated was removed from eruption then DH has to be nerfed as well.. I don't think DH has any business in the game anymore either change the meta really or don't and keep the game in the current stale 3 gen gameplay they are designing new killers around.

    The choice is yours devs.

  • Not sure what is BHVR masterplan but they better pull out a rabbit from the hat because for the next 3 months this chapter alone might not carry enough to keep killers playing and the constant 100% might be a thing for killers more often.

The current meta is boring and the 3 gen gameplay even more. I don't blame killers for not playing the game for at least the next 3 months.. or the next perks changes.

  • The system sometimes works like this:

fast queues over fair games.. it is what it is. I would blame the SBMM tho since they put that the system only cares about fast queues when there's not enough players with enough mmr for fair games.

  • They will not.

But I'm more interested to see how the community will react to the fact that the meta will be the same for yet another 3 months minus eruption.

edit: at the time of my post apparently the dev's posted changes for eruption and the killer.. not that much has changed in my opinion still a 3 gen killer which the gameplay isnt the most engaging one. Eruption got reverted to actual regression minus incapacitated status it was overkill anyway..
