They have to do something about this. Since they will lose a lot of players, if one can´t feel save to play anymore. We have a really toxic community and people getting access to other players IP is a serious issue.
Honest to god ive had alot of upset/salty players go out of their way to google my in game name to get my twitter or smash.gg page, even message my socials etc.etc. If i run into 1 upset player while playing and they take my connection out or even go out of their way to do more stuff aside from just dossing, it can seriously affect my #########, and honestly im not a real big fan of the idea of it. I do like this game, i enjoy it, and im willing to look past gameplay jank but having an IP easily grabbable because of a mistake within the code or something along the lines of that, just makes me feel not so great about the idea of playing. Personally im gonna wait until SOMETHING gets said.
