Any update on this? Are they just going to leave the game open for people to be DDOSed or has it been patched finally?
-
It's only going to get worse. BHVR does not care about this kind of stuff, they're even telling people to use a VPN (which they also even admit is against Steam TOS) if they get DDOSed instead of fixing their unsecure lobbies.
-
Recent patch notes just has the same generic message about fixing exploits. Guess we'll have to wait and see which DBD Twitch streamer is ddosed this go around since BHVR won't address it at all.
-
Having to worry about being DDoSed for playing the game because BHVR refuses to fix the security holes in their game is what got me. It's not fun to play when there's a chance my router can be fried since it's just a feature of the game now.

no sadly not. But I don’t remember there being a highly upvoted question about it either.
Yeah the community is unfortunately just ignoring the issue entirely for some reason, making it super easy for BHVR to brush it under the rug. It's a shame everyone's just ok with this game being a security risk every time they play it now.
-
Did they address the DDoS/IP leaking issue from November that was never fixed?
-
Well players can now DDoS people because the servers are unsecure, and BHVR is electing not to fix it, so unfortunately DDoSing is a feature of the game now.
-
You can be DDoSed in this game and be booted out of a game and be penalized for it because the game thinks you just quit. This game is broken beyond repair and hemorrhaging players on Steam, thank God people are quitting the game over this issue.
-
They have no incentive to fix it unless players stop playing the game and demand it be fixed. Threads on here about it rarely get any attention so why wouldn't they brush it under the rug? We've got to hold them accountable and refuse to play their game until it's safe for us to do so. As it stands, DBD is one step removed from malware.
-
Having this issue fixed starts with us, the community. We have to keep talking about this on here and everywhere else. People have largely been ignoring it and BHVR is never going to fix it if nobody is talking about it. This is unacceptable, SpooknJukes is no small time DBD content creator, either. This has to be a wake up call to them. Are they gonna wait until someone gets seriously hurt because their information was leaked just by playing their game?! It's a lawsuit waiting to happen.
-
Half the time when I was playing it was hard to tell what were performance issues and what were instances of hacking lol. "Is my game lagging or am I just being DDoSed since that's a feature in the game now?" Hope they address that in their upcoming Q&A, they've gone radio silent on it since November 16th.

PTB patch notes suggest a fix although we will never know for certain because more information = more people who know to stop so they don't get caught.
However, using VPNs and other Internet safety tips should still be followed wherever possible, because DDOSing/Doxxing isn't exclusive to DBD, sadly, and can be done through other online games or sites.
Just take as much caution as is reasonably possible given any circumstances you have, and if you suspect foul play contact your ISP. If someone is blackmailing you with personal info, etc, then go straight to police.
It's insane we have to worry about this now just for playing the game though. This wasn't an issue less than 3 months ago and now I can potentially be put in some sort of danger because BHVR won't fix whatever the problem is? This isn't directed at you, just general frustration.
I hope you're right that the vague patch note is alluding to a fix for this specific issue, only time will tell. Any support ticket I've sent in about the issue has been met with a response that indicates BHVR never found an issue in their servers, which is blatantly not true considering they confirmed as much in November and a warning was displayed on this very website for 2 months. I just want to know our security is a priority before I play the game again, I haven't touched it since November because of the general shadiness surrounding this whole event.
-
So they haven't fixed that DDoS issue from November? That's two months now and it's still a problem.

Sorry for bumping this thread, but do we have any information of if/when this is going to be fixed? Feels like it's been completely forgotten about without any official confirmation that it's been addressed or patched.
