After Dead Hard got a nerf, hook grabs should go.

One of the main arguments about why Dead Hard was bad was that it led to killers just running right behind survivors for extended periods of time. Killers argued it didn't feel right.

Same principle should be applied to hook grabs. Standing there playing a guessing game with the killer looks and feels stupid.

Regarding this argument, they could also make unhooking uncancelble. I mean the interaction looks pretty unintended and weird…. They guy on the hook gets hit by the entity like 23233 times but hey “no problem I’m still fine”

But this would solve the problem also.

  • If slugging is such a problem for the people. Why not just pick unbreakable?

I didn’t get this in the basekit bt discussion too. If it’s such a big problem that the killer downs the unhooked guy again and again. Why not just pick bt?

I mean if a perk is essential doesn’t mean you need to receive it for free. Or did I get a basekit ruin undying back the day it was meta? I guess no.

So why do people cry for free stuff when they can just pick the perk?

  • I think there is a general misunderstanding of the situation. Tunneling is a strat and it’s an effective way to play against certain encounters.

I think it’s kinda weird if 1 side is always complaining because the other side is playing effectively.

I mean if I would stop tunneling ( what would be dumb because I am a pyramid head main and he is designed for it), would the other side stop pulling off theire cheese too?

I think no. They wouldn’t stop bodyblocking, looping, sneaky resetting chase to avoid bloodlust, jumping other a pallet so the you are not kicking the pallet and picking up the surv instead and so on and so on.

    So why should I stop?

  • Ok my two cents to dead hard:

This bait it out satement is getting old. It really looks like this people don´t want to get the point in dead hard. Nobody litteraly nobody had a problem with dead hard in a dead zone that was easily baitable. Nobody cares about this cases and this was not the problem with dead hard.

The main problems with dead hard were:

    1. Dead Hard against abilities: Wesker Bound. You want to use wesker bound in the small corridor on range before the surv reaches the pallet? Not with dead hard my man. Just press it on reaction. Same for huntress hatchets and basicly every telegraphed range attack that is used on range.
    2. Dead Hard in short loops. There is not a low chance you come in the situation where you have to lounge to reach the surv before he reaches the pallet. Just press dead hard on reaction and gg.
    3. Dead hard covers you, even if you don´t have it.. There is not much to say about it. I think everybody was in the situation where he had to wait out dead hard and runs into a balanced landing at some harvester (yes the mini shovel is enough to trigger it). You will wait it out like 12 times (if you twelve hook the survs) since you wait it out for like 2-3 seconds. This is a loss of minimum 36 seconds only because the potential existence of a perk in a group. I´ve seen videos of people finishing gens in that time. Alone.... And this is a problem.

What would stop a High tier killer to go and destroy soloQ survivors that just want to have fun? or a SWF to join the normal mode and just destroy the killers there that just want to have fun?

The idea behind separating swf and soloq is that you can balance it. So in soloq killers would be less powerful and in swf more powerful. So you will have a way to balance the information aspect from swf etc.

normal mode is just ffa. It would be dbd before sbmm. All addons and items allowed etc. so yeah an swf can come and destroy you, but they will more likely be in the sweat swfq to push rating. This mode is more meant to be a casual messing around experience. This games will exist, it would be much less than before probably.

Don’t get me wrong. This solution is not perfect either, but I think it’s better compared to what we have now. And it’s just the “competitive road” they were starting to walk along.

So this is just an idea to make this game more enjoyable for casuals and soloq players. also for killers who can choose what experience they want to have.

for me as a killer main I can say that I like to face strong swf teams. But not 90% of my games in the evening. Sometimes I just wanna mess around or try sth new. But sadly there is no possibility to do that. Not sure where mmr brought you or the others here, but it’s kinda exhausting to sweat the … out of every game. And I think this is not sth only I want or only killers want. Sometimes you just wanna play for fun, but actually there is only ranked q with a very big amplitude of outcome.

  • Yeah review bombing is sth that always happens if some1 receives a nerf.

I played enough mmo’s in my life to notice that. And this is why it’s a problem. People just throw all their salt in the reviews, in the hope they are getting theirs change reverted as long as they just cry enough.

but that’s not what reviews are for and that’s a problem…

And in this case the devs brought the problem in theirs own house.

They implemented sbmm and opened a very problematic box for the game. This way they gave the game a competitive aspect. And competitive games should be balanced around the best what is in the possibilities of a player. So we balance around a full sweat swf… this is a problem because this basically kills soloq, due to the fact the gap between soloq and swf is gigantic.

Some people wrote it here. SWF more or less still too powerful and soloq is a nightmare right now.

what to do now? Yeah actually I think there is no perfect solution for this. To really achieve something like balance you will need to separate swf and soloq. But this will definitely result in q times to the moon for swf.

what is not a real solution at all.

you can maybe make a normal and a ranked mode while the ranked mode has tournament rules? The normal mode would have no sbmm and is just fun and messing around?

I am really not sure about this, but throwing everything in one pot is just not the solution… there will then be 1 party that is massively put in a misery and that will be the soloq players mostly…

and ofc killer who have weird matches. First match sweaty swf genrush boys followed by soloq no items squad…. Kinda weird.

Before y’all bash me I play both sides and hit Ir1 as killer multiple times and have 10k hours into killer. In my opinion it’s so easy to counter dead hard like all you have to do is wait it out, that’s if you are good as killer. I just find it cringe where killer mains complain about a perk that actually takes skill to use

The skill you need to use a perk has got nothing to do with balance aspect. It just shifts the point where the perk becomes a problem.

Considering this argument with the „skill aspect“ they never should have nerfed nurse. I mean her kill rates are bad so it looks like you need „skill to use“ her.

See we are having a problem here?

it counters way to many m2 attacks. All the telegraphed range attacks can be countered with dh on reaction.

there was no waiting out in short loops…

anither aspect is that the perk was so deeply rooted in the meta, that you had to play around it even if the other player doesn’t have it. So yes… dead hard saved the one or the other balanced on a harvester …

And in the end is to say, that the game design is absolutely terrible. I mean imagine you are a killer, stand in front of your victim and then you have to wait until your victim makes a dab… really this ability is kinda comparable to this garbage halo ability that just stalled the game…

Except BT was changed as a shift to combat tunneling off the hook which was a game problem. You just want a wider screen.

I didn´t write that I want it or did I?

It wasn´t a problem. I mean you could just pick BT. Bill is even not behind some kind of pay wall. You can just prestige him and take that perk.

Endless Boon placing is a problem, where is my basekit shattered hope? Gen rush is a problem where is my basekit corrupt intervention? And so on and so on. You see where this is going? This is the problem with opening this baseline box and this was the only thing I was saying.

They started giving out crutches, because people refused to pick necessary meta perks. It´s only natural that other people want crutches with things they are struggeling with. Or they want theire perk slot free for other perks or whatever.

Changing the Killer POV affects Survivor stealth, which is part of the core gameplay. If you want the Shadowborn benefit, pony up the perk slot.

You want the BT benefit, pony up the perk slot. Oh wait... That´s the thing with opening this box one time.
