  • I watched the original Candyman years ago, and I remembered it being very bad. I rewatched it last year, and yep, it was long, boring, and not at all scary.

Candyman just wasn't interesting to me.

  • I’m a fairly new survivor. I made it to 13 this weekend. After a brief intro with Claudette, I started with David for WGLF, then moved on to Bill for BT. I’m working on Meg now.

I’ve avoided using exhaustion perks, as I wanted to learn the game decently first without relying on them. I use several general perks, like Kindred.

  • I DC’d today because a Demodog slugged all four of us and was going to let us all bleed out instead of hooking us. Sorry, don’t have time for that nonsense.

  • I started playing last August. I had a lot of trouble at the time with the matchmaker matching me, as a very low rank Killer, with red rank SWF teams. I waiting until they "fixed it" and came back around October for the event.

Played through the first tome thing. Either I got burned out grinding, or the matchmaker was flaking again, I forget which. I left again.

I am now back, and reading the forums I see that the matchmaker is once again doing the same thing, only possibly worse this time.

The matchmaker is a deal breaker for me. Combine that with how grindy it is to unlock perks, and how badly you are disadvantaged with crappy or no perks until you can unlock them, and I just can't recommend the game to anyone.

It's like there is a fun game in there somewhere, but it is buried underneath all of these frustrating layers. At least, that is how I found the game as a new Killer player.

  • I am a gamer who only plays one game at a time. I don’t know why, but I get a favorite multiplayer game, and I will play it for months or even years. However, I used to make one exception. During October, I would drop my current game and go back to play Team Fortress 2 for their Scream Fortress Halloween event. My suggestion is based on some of their events.

Pick a map for the event and spookify it. Pumpkins, scarecrows, spiderwebs, whatever. Do it up. Add map offerings for it in the bloodweb.

The game starts as normal, except all survivors start with unlimited Halloween flashlights. After a short time, an alarm sounds. Survivors are unhooked, gens partially completed are reset to zero, killers cannot harm survivors.

Soon, a boss spawns in the middle of the map.

Survivors can stun the boss or it’s adds with flashlights, to let the killer damage it. If someone dies, they respawn in the basement and have to run back to the fight. After a certain amount of time, the boss leaves, and the game continues.

After a few minutes, the boss comes back. If you can kill the boss before it leaves completely, both killers and survivors get rewards at the end of the match.

You could also have the adds drop rewards right there during the game, so even if you “lose” you get something.

Cooperative events tend to work much better and end up more fun for all involved.

  • Oh! I didn’t realize that. Oh well, guess I missed out.

Devs just cant win with this crowd, first killers complain that the queues are too long. Now that queues are short they complain that survivors arent good ranked enough.

    SMH.

When I'm new to the game, rank 16, using a killer with no add-ons yet and only one perk unlocked, and I keep getting matched against rank 2 swf hit squads, yeah, I'm going to complain.

  • What if it's the killer that's the newbie?

So I'm pretty new and have this defect in my brain where I don't learn maps well. I get a match on that meat packing plant (ugh), and it was only like my second time playing it.

So I wander around trying to get to the generators, but keep running into dead ends and doorways that I thought were open but weren't. Get turned around and lost. The next thing I know, they have completed 3 gens and I haven't even found 1 survivor.

So one of the survivors comes to look for me and stops at a pallet, clicking her flashlight at me. I go to her, she drops it, I break it, and she clicks again. I follow. She proceeds to lead me to like all of the pallets in the map, dropping them, letting me break them, to give me points.

Eventually, they completed the other 2 gens and opened the exits. She let the entity take her.

  • As a relatively new player, you know why I would love this? To learn the maps. Some of us need more intense map learning than others!

I mean why not? I would laugh more than be upset if I saw that in game and it's not a children's game , if you're allowing your kids to play the game you can't be upset at what happens because it was never intended for someone under 17 to play anyway and if you get mad at something that small God help you if you ever play red dead 2, GTA v , call of duty or any other game with far more toxicity than this one

There are some multiplayer games that let you flip the bird. My head hurts too much today to remember them, but they exist.

You're right, now I want a middle finger emote in the game , sounds amazing

That would only be useful for Americans though. Would have to add something for each region. :)

Yeah, I always thought that survivors were pointing to signal to nearby survivors "Hey, the killer is RIGHT THERE!!!" Then I found out it was supposed to be making me angry. . . ummmm ok?

You can say the same thing about raising a middle finger in America in real life. I mean, raising a finger is supposed to make me angry? How could someone moving their finger possibly be antagonistic?

The intent behind the gesture is what is important. People have adopted the simple raising of a finger to imply and convey certain negative things, and eventually people learn what the real message behind the action is.

So yeah, pointing can mean nothing, or it can be adopted by survivors, since they have so few ways to communicate in game, to mean something else entirely.

  • I was getting rank 2-3 survivors as a rank 16 killer.

Seems like as long as there is a "bridge", one survivor that is within the allowed matchmaking range, it doesn't matter what rank the others are. Might only work for SWFs; not sure.

  • I'm pretty new to this game, and am only like rank 17 now. Like the third match I ever played in this game, I was a rank 20 killer, and I was matched against a rank 3 survivor. Unfortunately, I did not take a screenshot, as I assumed that was just how the game worked.

I did find it pretty ridiculous at the time, which is why it stood out to me.

  • Thanks everyone. Okay, I will give it a shot. It is on sale, so why not! Hopefully it will not take me too long to get up to speed.
