Middle East. This sucks because there are no servers nearby and the closest servers I keep getting connected to is in Singapore

Are you on wifi or wired in? Sounds like an internet provider issue, any storms, snow or bad weather in your area? This is most likely the culprit if so and I would recommend playing hard wired in if you aren't already
playing on wifi but the router is right next to my ps5 and I'm sure that there have been no packet lost or internet dropouts. Weather is fine nothing unusual.

PS4 and PS5 are considered separate platforms so you will not connect to a PS4 crossplay off lobby playing the PS5 version of the game. You would need to play the PS4 version on your PS5 to connect with PS4 crossplay off players.
That's a shame, why could they just not do cross platform always on + cross play off

Probably because of your MMR (rank) and your region. For example:
- Japan region (my experience) will has more PSN players than other region
- Lower MMR has more PC players (for now) due to the game was free last month on Epic store
- Mid-High MMR (old 4-8 ranks) will be more console players, because of no big sale and bad performance issue recently. Therefore, ppl leave and the game is not attracted by new players
- etc.
Thanks for the feedback, I'm being connected to the Singapore servers so I would expect most the asian players to be on PS rather than PC although having said this I do come across alot of Chinese players on PC I guess they don't buy PS products and prefer PC instead.
Maybe same applies to new gen PS and old Gen

The reason you wait so long because other PSN accs who turn on crossplay will be mixed in other lobby with other platforms. Which means the real playerbase of PSN with crossplay off will be much, much lower.
that's strange because even when I have cross play on, over 90% of the lobbies I come up against are filled with cross platform players (I could tell from the globe next to their tags).
