And i was starting to wonder how I could stood this day without my regulary "We told You we do not care"-dosis..

I have come to realize that we might misunderstand the problem. It may be possible that there are significant issues with DbD in Proton that aren't connected to EAC at all and the devs are just "blocking" (not a bad thing necessarily just some lacking transparency) them behind the lacking EAC support until they can fix those since DbD is a game that's been fighting prejudice of being incredibly buggy and exploitable for years and the devs have apparently recently started to see that as an actual problem, hence the many bug, cheat and exploit fixes they gave.
A game that runs in Windows can be lacking in proton even without EAC, many don't always remember that when being blocked by EAC since then EAC is the most obvious point of attack and I'm embarrassed to have been one of them. I wish to offer my apologies to people I may have been passive aggressive too.
@MandyTalk, do you have the freedom to state whether or not the devs are currently actively working on Linux support at least if it is planned to be worked on any time soon? Of course no hard feelings if you can't state anything to that issue, and I apologize if the constant questions are getting annoying.
Sorry, but You missed the point: it is the freaking UNREAL-Engine. Runs natviely on Linux. Proton handles the P2P the same way that Windows does, so it is left to EAC and maybe the UI (where I do not see any point of issue).
So in fact: they do not care. And it is making me quite disappointed.

What OS yall rockin?
Triple Boot Laptop with Win11 (only for DBD...), Linux Mint Cinnamon and Manjaro KDE.

Yes, sorry. You are right. I forgot about You initial post.

Here is the point: DBD already runs on Linux if You can avoid EAC. In doing a bit of a hack, some Users already were able to play the tutorials (or, as far as I remember, at least the "old" killer tutorial), but were unable to connect to other players.
So I am deeply afraid of -if they will start support SteamDeck support in this century...- other traps they might build to avoid GNU/Linux. Seems like nothing else but either pure laziness or freaking politics to me.

hey, i agree with you. but @HatsuneCthulhu seems very concerned.
i wouldn't worry too much about it. even if they did do something that dumb, the community would find a way around it pretty quick i'd imagine.
Just read the posts from "mandytalk" in this thread or watch the totally shown ignorance on this topic at the developer´s stream three or four episodes ago.
From mandytalk, You might get something like "We already told You we will announce it in time, and there will be only support for Steamdeck" or something along this.

There is a difference, Steamdeck has a very specific linux kernel version, it's entirely possible to enable proton support for a game only on Steamdeck and not Linux as a whole, multiple developers have discussed it.
The "specific Linux kernel" manages the input and the Steamdeck display drivers. All of that is included in SteamOS, which You can use next to a normal GNU/Linux-based OS.
However, since the Dead By Daylight engine is supported by Linux, the only issue there is the EAC. And I am quite upset how BHVR handles this, and I am even more upset how players and want-to-be-players-soon are treated here in this forum. This is a joke. A really bad one.

On the 6.0.0 PTB:
Good News! The game now loads up to the loading screen! It spits out a " Quit game - EAC client failed to initialize " error, but the game does actually start and it does go further than it did before ( aka hanging on the EAC loading screen ). This at least tells us that they are actively working on Proton support.
Not such good news...this happened already before, if I remember correctly, about the time around the 5th anniversary time.

I've just done the same. Goodbye Windows, hello ArchLinux. I still have 9% of borked/bronze games in my Steam Library, although DBD and Rust are the remaining ones that I care about. Hope to be able to play DBD again soon.
It is only DBD in my library. But I just have about a dozen of games overall on steam. Would be awesome to be able to switch completely to Manjaro (or LMDE, have not decided yet).

There are probably more things to do than "just a few mouse clicks" to enable Easy Anti Cheat support for Proton. The "just a few clicks" announcement was written by Epic's sales department and that type of organization is notorious for dismissing and ignoring implementation issues. From the BHVR perspective, they likely have to put this through their official change management process as it likely involves an SDK update and addressing the relevant technical debt. Depending on the scheduling process, it may take one or two major releases before the relevant changes make it to the public release builds.
Sorry, but I doubt that.
The UNREAL-Engine runs usually native on Linux, and the SDK for EAC is just an update without any further implements.
In case of the Steam/Proton-issue, it IS a few mouseclicks.

@Mandy said:
As advised in our recent QA Stream, we will be implementing this but we want to advise people not to expect it at the Streamdeck's launch, we haven't confirmed when it will be actioned.
:( Because updating a server tool and do literally 5 mouseclicks on Steam take several weeks?
-
I wanted this to work on Linux ever since DBD was in beta. This is truely the only game which keeps me using Windows, and I hate it.
Please, do it quickly, at least on Steam it is only a few mouseclicks for devs.
