DBD should be banished to the Epic graveyard.
-
I wish Valve would name and shame Devs not supporting steamdeck, maybe the public embarrassment would light a fire under their ass.
-
Anyone wanna take a bet that China reaches net zero emissions before DBD releases on Linux? ๐คฃ

Hey I know a dev is reading this. Its Q3 already and still no news on this like come on...
Unfortunately devs usually get zero choice in what they work on, it won't be a development issue, it'll be management prioritising other things.

I think bhvr may not add proton support, because linux/deck users buy game w/o it๐
That's how you build a terrible reputation for your company. It's not just this, there have been so many things this company have done even before I switched to Linux that have led me to never want to give them any money again, and I know I'm not alone in thinking that.
I really hope they turn a corner and can start rebuilding their reputation, but I'm highly doubtful they ever will.
- Poor communication
- Poor performance
- Constant game breaking bugs whenever they release expensive expansions
- Lack of innovation in game
- Constant promises of features they never deliver
- The list could go on
-
I think they must be aiming to be ready after the launch of the Steam Deck 2.0 in 2025

I second this. Performance leaves something to be desired, my PC isn't all that good, but definitely above the recommended specs, yet it still manages to be very slow. That's Nvidia GPUs on Linux for you :/
I actually get flawless performance on linux with a 2070 Super, you just gotta make sure you're defo running kernel 5.18 or later, between 5.15 (default) and 5.18 they did some voodoo magic to make nvidia cards perform 20-25% better. Adding DXVK_ASYNC=1 as a param improves 90% of games too.

Literally any communication at all at this point would be nice.

It's not that you've been unclear, @MandyTalk . It's more that, as we approach the one year mark, the response just isn't satisfactory anymore.
Agreed, not really an issue with the community manager, you can only work with what you're given. But from our side, there's only so long you can "watch this space" for. I appreciate that it's not "just pressing a button", but the lack of communication certainly seems to indicate that is less a case of it taking this long to implement and more a case of it not being given much attention internally.

The "specific Linux kernel" manages the input and the Steamdeck display drivers. All of that is included in SteamOS, which You can use next to a normal GNU/Linux-based OS.
However, since the Dead By Daylight engine is supported by Linux, the only issue there is the EAC. And I am quite upset how BHVR handles this, and I am even more upset how players and want-to-be-players-soon are treated here in this forum. This is a joke. A really bad one.
Still would be nice to get confirmation of whether they plan to tie the game to SteamOS/Steamdeck or whether they plan to enable it for Linux as a whole

there's no difference.
Steam Deck is just a computer running Linux (specifically SteamOS.) if EAC is configured to work under Proton, it will work for all of us.
There is a difference, Steamdeck has a very specific linux kernel version, it's entirely possible to enable proton support for a game only on Steamdeck and not Linux as a whole, multiple developers have discussed it.

I did state earlier in the week that we're not at the point where we're launching DbD on Steam Deck yet - it will definitely be announced prior to its release. I'm sorry that you are disappointed that it's not available on Steam Deck at this time, however we have been very clear about this.
Can you confirm whether DBD will be playable on Linux? That is seemingly the main topic of discussion here, but you seem to have been quite adamant about always saying specifically Steam Deck and not Linux.
