I've got a bit more than that in, I think, and I still suck at looping. You don't have to be good at looping. find something else you're good at. Sometimes running in a straight line is fine.

Some really nice people on this thread. I'm a killer main and really suck at Survivor, but I spend my time making specific builds for each Survivor and playing them to their strengths, and literally no one but my Meg is any good at Killer Evasion of any sort. But I have fun so that's fine!

  • It no longer makes them scream and blood spatter unfortunately, it's as if smacking normal walls so looks like it.

Which is a shame, it was funny.

I used to be able to play this game for hours upon end now I play for 45 mins and I wanna shut it off. I feel the perfect rank is between 9-11. Its enough tryhard where its challenging but also enough where in my case im not gripping the controller and about to break it. Im a 50/50 player and hate being a purple rank and higher on either side. I go after Gens not survivors

Gosh thank you, someone who feels the same way. If I rise too high as a Survivor OR Killer or I will purposefully just chill in a match to de-rank because I don't want to ascend to sweat-tier. I'm here to have fun.

  • @IamB4tm4n88 said:

I feel that everybody plays this game way too serious. The way I play killer depends on my survivors. If they are chill we will have fun get a bunch of BP and most likely PIP and let someone escape. If you are sabotaging hooks and t-bagging a lot then my mood changes and I go a little try hard.

Amen to this. The moment a survivor becomes annoying I make sure they have a bad time, and I'm more than happy to make sure they don't get that escape bonus.

Oh no, you're right. It gives them altruism bloodpoints then but I'll make sure they don't escape this trial. What's better, 700 altruism points (500 for safe unhook, 200 protection hit) or 5000 survival points (+ 2000 objective for a hatch).

If worst comes to worst I'll actually tunnel them because they tried to ruin someone else's fun and then cage em to avoid ds, then re-tunnel from the cage. I know in so many threads I've talked about playing fair before but if you wanna ruin someone's experience I'll ruin yours; we play games to have fun after all.

I can agree but more often than not, bad unhooker are that way because they're also running evasion-heavy bait builds with stuff like Dead Hard, Sprint Burst, etc. Like I posted above, the bad unhook is a bait tactic, so while you COULD focus them you waste a lot of time and I generally don't favor giving them what they want.

It's actually far more amusing walking away from the bait and just turning back to see them standing there

"Why won't you chase me killer-kun? Don't you want your Chase pointssssss???"

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

I agree with everything but #2, but that's just my moral compass. It's hardly the unhooked's fault they were farmed, make the farmer's life hell instead. I hate being tunneled (because what you gave there is an example of actual tunneling not "oh god he hit me") and so I won't ever do it.

But again that's all because of my morals, if you wanna do that go for it. Just enjoy my DS stun.

Oh I can lowkey agree there-because I almost ALWAYS apologize when I knock down the person that just got unhooked post-match. They didn't deserve it and it IS tunneling.

But you have to realize that chasing the unhooker doesn't actually punish them-they get not only the bloodpoints for the Safe Unhook, but often ALSO the Protection bloodpoints as well. So chasing and hitting them doesn't punish them at all-especially if they're running We're Gonna Live Forever, they've now gotten two stacks to that Perk and will get bonus Bloodpoints for a totally terrible unhook. I don't endorse that behavior.

    Actually a couple of hours!

I was typing while in Killer queues.

Funny to note, during that time I got several challenging matches where Survivors did well, and in two of them in particular, there were particularly nasty survivors in the lobby post-game. I had been intending to congratulate these survivors on their skilled gameplay and challenging playstyle, but I instead had to admonish them for being what I've now had to define as nothing less than "sore winners." Which honestly describes the playerbase far too well-Dead by Daylight is the only game I've played where one can rampantly find WINNER who are ANGRY and COMPLAIN. I can have a match of four survivors that make it out, yet instead of telling each other they did a good job they're going at each other for sandbagging of some sort, while I'm just over there watching like

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/9W74DLWGDC10/well-no.gif

As an addition I would like to point out there never seems to be much of a good sportsmanship attitude when it comes to congratulating either side and there should be.

Why is it when a killer does poorly they're "Trash killer" "noob killer" and "ez", but when they do good they're still "Trash killer" "noob killer" and "ez"? There's rarely a "Well done killer that was a challenging match">

My heart leaps for joy when I get comments like "Interesting build" or "Thanks for the points killer" because Survivors are genuinely grateful to have a polite killer to play against.

Every time I deal with these pillars of salt after letting four survivors go I just feel the overwhelming urge to play Doctor with NOED and Blood Warden-if I'm going to get abusive survivors in the after-match I might as well BE a trash killer to deserve that treatment, then I'll at least be swimming in bloodpoints.

I would be insanely happy is Alien was added into the game, even better if Ripley is a survivor - that would be so bad*ss.

I don't think Predator would be added though, since there's already an asymmetric game called "predator: hunting grounds"

Yeah that's what I'm hearing and Imma be honest

You'd think whatever dumbbells made that game would have a look at Friday the 13th and how bad it flopped and cash in with the colossus that is Dead by Daylight and get some real fame.

    But go off I guess.

  • You're 100% right-as I said in my first post, Camaraderie really only works if I'm playing with friends and yell "AH HE KNOCKED ME DOWN GET OVER HERE" and even then half the time frens are like "Haha nah almost done this gen"

    What are friends for right

The alien/predator universe is something I would love to see in dbd. There are so many movies to pull ideas from, characters, maps. If at the very least, alien and ellen ripley need to come to this game at some point. An idea I had for alien would be to allow tail attacks on M2 to stun survivors or possibly cause other effects. I'm thinking this could work since it does work in other avp games where the tail is used to stun opponents and then hit them. Nostromo is a perfect map environment too. Alien could possibly have a mechanic similar to the pig, instead of reverse bear traps, have face huggers. Or maybe something with cocooning as opposed to pyramid head's cages. Many possibilities are there. Then you got predator with how own invisibility, it could cause the electric noises when he comes in and out of invisibility, also have an electrical shimmer so he'd be easier to spot as opposed to the wraith. I like the gun pieces idea, and the pyramid map with rotating pieces. That could be so cool if done right. Predator could also have his heat vision to help spot survivors, but cloak and vision both use up energy quickly so he cant stay cloaked for very long or use vision mode for very long. Also have his eyes glowing so survivors know when hes in heat vision mode. Basically have his cloak be not as concealable as the wraiths and have a limit to how long his stuff can be used, including any energy weapons, so to not allow spam or OP abilities. Lex as survivor is a cool idea but I feel Arnold would have to take the cake for me, but honestly maybe even Danny Glover. Or heck all 3 would be great. I hope BHVR is in talks with FOX about the alien/predator license. It needs to happen. Especially since demogorgon is the only creature killer we have, all others people human like, it would be cool to have another actual creature killer to mix things up more.

You buffoon. You FOOL. You absolutely ignoramus.

    I'm one as well.

We can't have Danny Glover as Michael Kerrigan for Survivor BECAUSE Danny Glover also played Detective Tapp for SAW and he's the SAW DLC survivor. I just rewatched Predators and remembered that, shame on me forgetting.

I don't think Behavior would be so lazy as to double-dip and reuse assets.

For your Steve build, how often do you notice the effects actually making a difference? Are you left on hook for a prolonged period of time, or are you generally quickly gotten off hook?

Thank you for asking you are wonderful!

The build is fairly specific I will admit-for it to be most effective, I need to NOT be the first person hooked, and to also not only grab an early unhook but also the heal after. However if I DO manage this, I can unhook myself IF no teammates come for me when I'm about to hit struggle-and on second hook, my Second Wind heals me so I can immediately scoot off and hide.

It's more of a backup plan build, but more than anything else.

That being said, that's how all my Survivor builds are. I make uber-specific builds for each survivor that sort of focus on one thing as opposed to all-around builds-it makes me great for SWF but when playing pugs I tend to avoid characters with those builds and play the ones with more generalized builds.

  • Camaraderie is a wierd beast. It has OP potential, the problem is, it falls into the category of "Impossible to use unless I let my PUG know I'm running it and trust them to listen or I'm using a SWF"

Like the magenta syringe, it requires teammates to listen and use their brains which is a rarity among survivors, so really unless you are playing with a SWF and let your buds know that they can tail the hooking killer to give you a grace period, it's not going to see a lot of work. I DO run it as a my fourth perk on Steve beside Deliverance, Second Wind, and We'll Make It.

I AM REWATCHING THE PREDATOR SERIES AS A STUDY AND YOU'RE SPOT ON WITH THE ENERGY MECHANIC

Allowing the energy pool mechanic and a more obvious/audible cloaking telegraph would be a GREAT idea-his ability to see survivors via aura instead of straight-up vision would allow for entirely different gameplay and present more of a challenge, I may have to edit his power to reflect this thank you so much!

And I also agree that getting Arnie would be amazing, I just think the royalties would cost too much. That being said...if it happens, we better get voicelines like Ashley in the lobby.

I need my "GET TO THE CHOPPAAAAA!"

After giving it some thought and trying to see what I come up, I think it would be incredibly difficult to implement the Predator's unique vision and heat-aura. I think these abilities would have to be relegated to addons that change your HUD which would be interesting. I think an Iridescent addon that allows the intensity of Generator auras to increase as they near completion and reveals the auras of all Survivors that are sprinting within a certain radius but allows them to be invisible while crouching/standing still would be amazing. Perhaps something like

Yautja HUD Implant - Extremely Rare Addon - Your usual HUD is replaced with an advanced heat-seeking module designed to hunt prey in low-light conditions.

    -Alters environmental coloration

    -Survivor scratch marks become invisible

-All survivors within a 48-meter radius that are Sprinting are revealed to you.

-All survivors walking within a 24-meter radius are revealed to you.

-Survivors that are crouch-walking, crouching, or immobile are invisible to you.

-All Generators' repair progresses are revealed to you by the intensity of their aura.

Of course this would probably be a NIGHTMARE to code. Sorry behavior.

Not too sure about Predators hunting targets that cant actually fight back or a highly tecnological advanced race being added. It just wouldnt mesh that well with this game imo.

That's what I thought about Demogorgon but they made it happen. I can't disagree that the mesh would be odd but I trust Behavior at this point.

  • @stargazer9 said:

So now that you managed to complete these challenges you were complaining about, did your opinion all of a sudden change?

Not really! Still needs some work.

  • You are in fact correct with the lack of Killer synergy.

But Hag is not one such example. I run Devour Hope, Ruin, Retribution, and Haunted Ground on her and it absolute rolls survivors in the most hilarious of ways.

I don't believe it is on behavior to tailor every single personal killer perk "With the intention of them being used by all other Killers". Especially given that half the perks are DLC-bound and the Shrine of Secrets is RNG-based. I will personally admit to having bought DLC for teachables just because I don't have the patience for the perks I'm need of to come 'round on the Shrine.

I know this is probably going to be Unpopular Public Opinion but the real base issue here is getting gud. The true show of skill is being able to perform decently (Brutal/Ruthless Killer) while using subpar or even "useless" perks as you call them. I have noticed, climbing ranks, there there is a tendency for Killers to crutch on perks rather than using them as icing on the cake. They cover poor game plays and lack of killer etiquette with perks that are overpowered, and then in threads like this complain that MORE overpowered perks are needed. While I will agree that there are many perks that are in need of a rework, this ain't it chief.

  • Token rather than Hex Totem for Lullaby I totally agree with.

Ruin on the other hand, leave it as is. Keep in mind that Ruin is a perk that initially belonged to Hag, and her playstyle is unique in that it's very defensive. You trap her totems and take down survivors attempting to remove them, while her three personal totems hamper survivor progress. Her entire kit rewards patience and long play. Devour Hope in particular rewards you for taking the time to get five hooks and allowing their unhooks.

It's only when you attempt to use Ruin on other killers that you find the Totem harder to keep active. Combine this with the fact that due to unskilled killers crutching on NOED these days, taking out all totems in the trial has become meta more than ever, and this is something killers did to themselves. Rather than changing up Ruin, I recommend pairing it with Perks that make it more deadly. Hex: Retribution can reveal anyone who takes it out, Hex: Haunted Ground can give survivors a 66% chance of cleaning a Totem that ISN'T Ruin and Exposing themselves, and Surge can heavily compound Generator regression.

As for your opinion that double regression speed isn't enough, don't know what to tell you there. If you're already versing heavy genrush or SWF yes, the regression won't do much, but in normal pubs it allows enough of a game delay for me to be effective-again, keep in mind the original owner is Hag, whose playstyle very much benefits from game delay so she can build her other two totems.

  • Actually OP is really onto something here and I agree. I have so many browns that I will never use pls let me mill them into bloodpoints.

  • OP is actually going off BUT his heart is in the right place:

    Freddy needs reworked.

here is the two BIGGEST problems:

    1) The fact that Freddy can now appear in the real world and drag people in not only contradicts his ability from the movie cause he just can't do that, it's overpowered. Before his rework it was the one saving grace he had-the fact that he couldn't harm you as long as you were awake. That's his shtick. By letting him make contact with survivors who are awake just by being close you violate his lore and take away that saving grace. Instead change it so that the sleep points that people have to make them enter the dream world accrue faster while closer to him.

    36 Meters: 1/Normal points/sec

    24 Meters: 2 points/sec

    12 Meters: 3 points/sec

    8 Meters: 4 points/sec

This will be a passive effect that allows Freddy to stalk while also encouraging survivors to run from him.

    2) Being able to pull survivors in passively AND Basic Attack them to pull them into the Dream World BOTH is too OP. When he was reworked either change would have been acceptable, but both is too much.

  • My dear, may I present to you some absolute GARBAGE that it took me a couple years to put together for Hag?

Haunted Ground, Retribution, Devour Hope, and Ruin.

The one drawback of Haunted Ground is that you have to find survivors within a minute after it being broken. With Retribution, you get a locator for 10 seconds after they break the HG totem, I tend to get at least two survivors off one HG break by adding Retribution. Do it.

Also, when it comes to Hex totems the map choice is very important. Some maps hide totems incredibly well, such as MIdwich Elementary. Save map offerings for when you plan to run totems and then mess those survivors up.

  • Honestly pretty fair. It would likely be annoying to code as devs would have to make sure criterion are met exactly, otherwise survivors could exploit it.

  • Alright so update I managed to get the Benes-I chose to play early in the morning instead of at night and there's a definite difference in the brain cell usage between playerbase in these times.

And I got Tome III all done! Yay!

Funny part was I got some money and bought Kate so I can now do her missions now that I don't need them haha.

Also this thread shows if anything that people have different skills and playstyles-I still never got the Dwight mission, however, I see a lot of people complaining about the difficulty of the Legion FF mission and I've gotten all of them easily, and I literally run no perks on Legion. Different strokes for different folks.

  • @Deadeye said:

I have to check again, if they changed something on benevolent emblems. Starting value should be 44.

Still, it is just that "one" action, unhook someone and heal him at the hook. That may be disturbed, so you need to get a second action. And that sounds to me like pretty doable and not like a blocker.

I got lucky on the Dwight mission, still having the right map makes it decently easier to get it, because you can be in the killer range without him being able to see you. And this entry point is not relevant for you as the next one is a Kate challenge.

And third: you can go the killer path, if the benevolent emblems are too hard for you. But I really can't believe that gold emblem benevolent is such a pain. Seriously, bring Kindred or Empathy. Or BT and We'll make it. Just one of these perks will already help you a lot

It only helps me as much as I can get lucky to have good teammates. Even my 100% is still only 25% of the team's capacity, and getting a team with proper peel or teammates that don't go zooming off like a scared sheep the moment I unlock them is a rarity. I wouldn't be complaining otherwise.

  • @Deadeye said:

I don't get you. There is one entry point directly requesting the Dwight hiding challenge and a Kate challenge. The complete level 3 is not depending on these 2 challenges, you have two other entry points to finish the whole level and just let these 2 challenges undone. So you can't really be stuck because of them. If gold benevolent and Boil over really is a problem, you still can go the killer path to bypass these.

But Benevolent is the easiest emblem to get to gold to be honest. It is like just 2 actions needed, either fully healing someone or do a safe unhook, or one of each. Bring a medkit or BT should be super easy to get to gold. If others are too fast for you, bring Kindred or Empathy, so you know where you need to go or if someone is already on the way. Really, gold is not a problem.

And just as tip to finish the Dwight challenge: hunting the killer doesn't work, because he is faster than you. And if he turns around, you will be in a chase, not getting hiding time either. Bring "the game" or "Hawkins" or "Midwhich". Probably even Badham works with the school and the buildings. I actually did that challenge on swamp on the pier, while I was hiding and someone was chased around the pier, me switching levels everytime they did, so the killer can't see me. The main buildings on the map would work as well.

Btw you don't have to hit all survivors with Frenzy. You can also hit the third survivor twice. The challenge does not say "apply Deep Wounds 4 times". And another note: If you don't have Kate, then finishing the Dwight challenge does not even help you to finish level 3. And another one: Level 3 IS actually putting the pay DLC challenges on an optional side bar. You can go around all the prereq challenges by at least one path.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1395118#Comment_1395118

    That's actually just 30 seconds, not 60.

Each path's entry points has challenges blocking it that are undoable by either Kate DLC or ridiculous challenges.

As for your calculations for Bene gold, they're entirely off.

You start at 35 points. A survivor getting hooked removes 10. Unhooking them refunds that 10. 20 is awarded to you for a successful unhook. 10 is awarded for a heal (If you get the full heal to yourself, less if it's partial). So you need to get the unhook AND the heal both which I will admit isn't hard-however this only gives you a 5-point buffer for gold. You need 60, and 35 - 10 + 10 + 20 +10 = 65.

To retain this gold, every other hook for the rest of the match must be unhooked if you are not the unhooker, OR you need to be the unhooker/healer to successfully buffer your points.

As for the Dwight stealth mission it sounds to me like you got lucky, still doesn't invalidate my point that it is a terrible mission. All I can think is that your poor teammate(s) being looped could have used some peel from you and instead you were hiding and being no help to them. That's borderline unsportsmanlike in the AFK/refusing to play game category.

  • @Marcavecunc said:

I for one like those kind of challenges. Yes the 60 seconds one was annoying, even more so since there's no in-game Challenge tracking to know how much progress you have, so you don't know if you've reached the 60 or if you're missing 2 seconds. Or if you were 1 meter too far from the killer and it didn't count.

Benevolent emblems are the easiest ones to get Iridescent on. It's shared by the entire team. Just make sure to go for only safe unhooks and heal someone once or twice and you should get it. Heck, I got it one time after getting hooked right as the game started and tunneled off hook twice.

Also, for the Legion one.. You have to hit survivors 4 times... so you can hit 3 and hit the last one twice, that counts as 4. But in the last level, it requires 5 hits.. so yeah, hit all 4 survivors once, then last one twice.

Some of the challenges require you to play more than one match to complete. It wouldn't be challenging if it took only 2 days to complete the entire thing. But some shouldn't take forever.

As for challenges requiring paid characters to complete.. they're in it for the money, it's a way to get players to buy their DLC, nothing wrong with that.

But for the paid ones, I said in my survey feedback that they should make those challenges on a side track, and allow you to at least reach the epilogue and for the charm and rift frags, and then have those side missions be entirely optional.

And I almost started crying when you said "Only go for safe unhooks"

You're right but...have you PLAYED THIS GAME SWEETIE

I literally have a this homemade sign on my twitch because of how often people dummy unhook

  • I agree that NOED serves as a crutch/second chance perk for unskilled killers. I prefer Killer over Survivor and I NEVER use Blood Warden and NOED because all they do is allow me to swoop in and get the kills I already should have managed earlier in the match. If you let the survivors get all the gens done to even ACTIVATE NOED there's only two reasons:

    1) You did a bad job and don't deserve the bloodpoints from hooks and kills, do better next time

    2) They were a really good SWF and you just got unlucky, better luck next time. It happens.

If you use NOED as a killer I look down my nose at you, considering I can get get Ruthless no perk on some killers I play. Learn to be a killer that people can respect.

  • Actually I agree with OP as a Killer main. I refuse to use NOED and consider any killer that uses it to be a bad killer.

It's a crutch that allows you to instadown when the survivors get gens done, when if you're GOOD you should have already been taking them out all match. And the argument that survivors should be taking out totems is bad for two reasons:

    1) Taking out totems merely prolongs gameplay which is unneccesary

    2) Hex: Retribution now exists and makes it more risky to take out totems

The only counterarguments I can find in support of this is that Jake and Nancy players now actually have more usability for their builds, however I think we can all agree that no one brings a specific build into a match assuming that a killer is going to be running NOED.

  • Also, let me remind you that if the gates are open and one survivor is hooked and the other three are healthy you CAN still pull them off and escape. Both people body block the third survivor that is unhooking, then all four run for the gate. It's tricky to pull off but it's the ultimate dunk. Works even better if you have Borrowed Time.

Aye and you said that some Perks are worse at Tier 3, so with my rework you wouldn't even NEED to grind a character up to level 40 to get those perks. Once you hit 30 you'd get all your decent level 30 perks by your logic.

Please no I'd rather RNG then more grinding lol

I understand the concept I do get the bloodweb RNG is annoying but I don't wanna grind everyone to lvl 40 to use there tier 3 perks and there's a glaring hole the fact that some perks are WORSE at tier 3

If their perks are...bad at tier 3...then you won't have to level them that far?

And the grind is not that bad. It really isn't. With all the bloodpoint events and the presence of the Tome missions bloodpoints aren't terribly hard to get-what's hard is getting them, then never getting the perks you're after.

Yeah as a new person, it doesn't make sense to ever prestige a character and lose all their perks when getting the character build just right will take 50 levels plus another 30 or so extra levels on top of that. Either perks need to be a la carte or you should get more perks per level of bloodweb. Trying to put useful perks like wglf, prove thyself, and bbq on all my survivors/killers is maddening. And with the ranking system, im forced to play the few characters i have good perks on instead of playing literally anyone else that i paid for.

100% on the last thing you said there. If I want to survive and do well as I get to higher ranks I just can't play those characters with "so-so" builds because they won't work. And I agree with the prestige, I've never done it, because I don't care for the cosmetics, don't want to entirely re-level and possibly get worse RNG, and once you hit 45 you'll have had the teachables so what's the point?

  • A fair point is being made here that Killers do very much get LESS bloodpoints overall camping as opposed to rotating properly. Really, the only person that gets cucked by campers is whichever poor survivor gets grabbed first-that poor soul is going to get no bloodpoints. And the Survivors are going to miss out on the Benevolence category. But if you see camping going on yeah just...do gens. You can't make the killer get gud.

To all the killers that think camping of any sort IS okay let me just say that there's a difference between being a killer that people respect at the end of a match and being a killer that gets a lot of bloodpoints. Just cause you CAN doesn't mean you SHOULD. We're all here to have a fun.
