Fixing Map Fatigue: 3 New Lore-Accurate Map Concepts

Map Concept 1: The Shattered Square Filter Revert
Since the Dungeons & Dragons map (Forgotten Ruins) already covers the clear, underground fantasy aesthetic, please bring back the iconic, ominous red color filter for the original Shattered Square (The Knight’s map). This simple code toggle would give the classic map its unique, burning-village identity back without requiring any layout changes and gives a visual difference compared to Forgotten Ruins

Map Concept 2: The Desert Crypt (Egyptian Theme)
Please add an Egyptian desert map featuring a large, central pyramid as the main building and ruins of old temples everywhere. The walls should be covered in hieroglyphs and ancient statues, with the Killer Basement transformed into a stony, atmospheric pharaoh’s crypt. Since it only requires structural reskinning, this theme would run perfectly without breaking the code while introducing a highly requested visual setting

Map Concept 3: The Catacombs of Paris
Please create a fully indoor, underground map based on the Paris Catacombs. The walls should be lined with neatly stacked skeletons and skulls, creating tight, claustrophobic corridors and dimly lit ossuary chambers. An underground map like this would be highly performant for the game's engine since it doesn't require rendering open skies or long sightlines, while delivering pure, atmospheric horror.

  • Come to think of it, now that we have different coloured scratch marks, the reason why Shattered Square's lighting changed is no longer a thing.

  • You hit the nail on the head, thanks for pointing that out

From what I remember people also took issue with it because it hurt to look at, whether they just didn't like how it looked or it physically strained their eyes. Also, although we can now change the color of our scratch marks, a lot of players (especially new players) will still have them set as red because that is the default

    True. Good points, indeed.
