How BHVR Can Fix Dead By Daylight, And What Will Make The Majority Happy

If you can't figure the fine print, the following is satire. Anything in parenthesis should emphasize this.

Hello everyone. Today, following the most recent stream by BHVR about Dead By Daylight, I will be expressing my thoughts and changes BHVR should make to the game. They don't seem to quite grasp the message, so I'll break it down as simple as possible to be able to benefit all (really "the majority" at its 1:4 ratio, 1 killer in the community to 4 very loud survivors who more often than not just want to play against a bot-like killer, and not a real, thinking person, just an easy dopamine hit for a flawless win) players. This is driven by the statistics provided (vaguely) by BHVR themselves.

First let's discuss how the game should be played (in BHVR's eyes and "the majority"). Dead By Daylight's typical gameplay loop involves a dedicated mechanic class, one person whose loosely defined job is to repair all the generators, and three players taking on the interference role. These three players running interference will commonly use the tools (the 10 same strong perks and items with addons) provided to them to distract the killer. This includes running up to the killer, somewhere within the 15 meter radius or closer, to have the killer realize there is a survivor to go after. Then, the other two running interference will either run with the chosen distraction, or help the mechanic class, but it is highly urged to assist the distraction (because it's easier to body block in a pack, and abuse the many tools provided to make the game unplayable for the killer, that is the goal at the end of the day). During this time, the killer should (by BHVR's logic and the rampant desire of "the majority") commit solely to following the distraction with the goal to down the distraction. This includes running through pallets (and never think of baiting a drop), destroying dropped pallets (even if someone is clearly ready to flash stun or otherwise, and only during chase), following the distraction through window leaps (despite it being a slow down in most cases), and stopping to damage generators that have progress during a chase (but never go after the one repairing, that's toxic).

Now let's discuss what I will call the "killer progress" phase. When (or if) the killer unfortunately (finally) catches up to a survivor being chased, it is the killer's duty to pick up the survivor from the downed state, and bring them to a hook (even if another survivor is nearby, baiting a pallet save / flash save, getting pressure from the entire survivor team, etc). The killer then hooks the survivor and walks away from the hook to find their next chase. It is important to note that during this time, the killer should never return to this hook. Whether there is an unhook notification (which they want to remove for this "majority benefit"), or other survivors are seen running toward this hook, the killer should immediately move 20+ meters away from this hook. The reason for this is to progress the game state by encouraging the killer to find a different survivor (because otherwise it's "camping" or "tunneling" or "toxic", despite the above stated reasons). This keeps the game fair (for "the majority") and balanced (for "the majority") for everyone (who isn't the killer) by encouraging the killer to take on everyone throughout the lobby. There are provided hud assets as well to help with this. Survivors with a white dash next to their name and character image have already been through this chase sequence, and active markers that shake on the survivor icon will note when you are chasing a survivor. As killer, you should only chase, down, and hook a survivor that does not have this white dash, so if you see that wiggling indicator, do not go after that survivor until every other survivor has a white dash (because otherwise it's tunneling, slugging, toxic). When a killer has successfully given each survivor one white dash, they are then allowed to progress the game to the second white dash (because, again, it's tunneling and toxic). This progresses as the game goes on, and the killer should then have used each hook once across the map (because we can't return to prior hooks, that encourages camping, tunneling and toxic behavior).

If all four survivors have made it to the exit gates, congratulations! You've successfully won the match! A bar will begin to slowly empty at the top of your screen, this is to signal the exit is open, and gives survivors a grace period at the end of the match to celebrate (by T-bagging, flash spamming, staying around to waste time, because that isn't toxic, it's celebration, especially if a majority of the killers by their concept and powers alone are lacking and cannot get a single kill, a game fundamental not a game_play_ fundamental)!

However in the game's current state, this is very difficult to accomplish, so below are my suggested changes to fix this (what BHVR wants to do to appease "the majority", or what they never thought of to really cement in how little they care):

- Increase the vault time for killers: whether it's their recovery time after vaulting, or the animations themselves, there should be more animation time to give survivors a chance to get further away.
- Increase pallet density: despite the recent increase, there still aren't enough pallets, especially with the bad (very good) changes made to The Shape. Survivors require more tiles to be able to loop, or cause stuns, to ensure everyone makes it out safely! (They don't, we need less. Remember when everyone started spamming "pallets!" in the stream? That wasn't because "they must really love pallets?")
- Increase the recovery time for attacks: killers are able to attack again far too quickly, if they miss an attack they can just turn and attack again quickly, there should be a longer time between attacks to give survivors time to get away (because why not).
- and much more, especially from the prior PTB's "anti slugging anti tunneling" changes! (trust me, you said it was invasive because it was too hand hold-y and not invasive in the sense that it was overwhelmingly oppressive for killers, you're so tone deaf it's astounding.)

If you have any other ideas, I'd love to hear them, and we can attribute to BHVR making the game better! (in which I mean, flame all you want, BHVR won't listen good or bad unless you absolutely stroke their ego, you can troll as much as you want to express just how skewed the community is and I won't bother with any of it, the hope is people actually reflect, but as per the point of this post, most people won't, hopefully this just helps drive people who understand this game to see the flaws internally and decide what to do with the game going forward.)

  • Have you ever even played killer ?

  • Just watch this there are all points that are important and a questions are right in the end.

What they came up with now its more onesided and handholding update for one side than patch 6.1. where killers got faster actions and many survivor mains hate it till this day.

Yeah it literally is saying "we don't know how killers work because we don't play our own game, and rely on "the majority"s input and will never try to comprehend context or content".

You sound more like 300 player having issue but the game isnt that bad for survivor if your team isnt bad and sticks to gens whey they can and you loop well which is now super easy because every 10 meters there is another pallet or window if your teammates didnt throw them out.

Sounds more like you want to bring 2017 DBD for killer but keep current buffs for survivors which is absurd but your opinion.

I'm trying to say the game is awful for killer? What even is a "300 player"?

Literally the first line of my post says the whole thing is satire, survivor play is super easy and way too aggressive against killers who are supposed to be the power role, survivors need less assets to get the upper hand. The most recent stream they blatantly gloss over people talking about pallets.
