What about Survivors who are more than 40 meters away, but are in the dying state? Do their auras show as well?

Yes, auras show even in dying state unless they have Distortion or something.
So if you have someone slugged and you hook someone 40 meters away, you get like a free Deer Stalker perk for 5 seconds?
Not necessarily since they're at least 40 meters away so you still go to their whereabouts and need to find them but yeah kinda like that. So for example if you slugged someone to go after someone else after getting a hook you will see the slugged person if they moved further away from you or if they crawled to the corner of the map etc.
Distortion does not trigger while crawling I believe, so BBQ should show their aura past 40m.
