I would like to know...bc there is no way!

There's no way the DBD developers thought it made sense for Spine Chill to trigger only when the killer is in direct line of sight of the survivor. At the moment that this happens, we survivors can see with our own eyes that the killer is close and watching us... like.... why would i have the perk now if i have my own eyes to tell me that the killer is there?

Where did the common sense of the developers go?!!

One of the most beloved perks by the community is now useless for who knows why...

And I would like to ask the developers (if any of you is here reading) what was the goal of making this change? Because it's clearly not working as it should.

  • While I don't agree, their reasoning was that the 'visual hearbeat' aspect of the perk is now more or less basekit. I never used that version of Spine Chill, so I can't say whether it was better than the visual heartbeat.

Way back in the it's original nerf patch, Spine Chill got changed simply because it was meta, and the only purpose of that patch was to change the meta.

  • In b4 this gets moved to feedback.

The official response is Spine Chill was changed because the visual terror radius provides the QoL aspect that Spine Chill imparted to players with hearing difficulties. But SC also alerted survivors to the presence of stealth killers who were otherwise in Undetectable status and may have been changed for this reason too.

the days when every stealth killer learned to moonwalk because spine chill was everywhere...

and then almost every other killer did it too.

  • The agenda has been to nerf (often harshly) anything perk related that’s overly popular, or “too meta.”

Obvz more important areas to focus attention, tho… mmm nope, just keep nerfing😔

  • While I do agree that BHVR sometimes go too hard on the nerfs it is good that they try to keep the game from getting too stale. We can't go back to before 6.1.0 where survivors and killers would run the same perks for years. Not when we have hundreds of perks and addons to chose from. At least in theory.

i do get it and its fine for me. But if they are going to nerf/change a perk, at least change it to make some sense cuz now Spine Chill is pretty much useless at this point.

Yeah, and instead of overly nerfing popular perks to the extent where they are barely, or aren’t even at all, used anymore by players, only to simultaneously buff a few other lesser tier perks to compensate; Just buff the weaker perks so we can pick and choose our builds from a completely useful variety of worthwhile perks.

Nerfing perks extensively to force players out of what they want n enjoy, and into another box (not so much of their choosing) that they are forced to accept, seems a bit tyrannical.

Devs mostly do well, and always mean well, attempting to better their creation.

There are just some things done to DBD that are unacceptable.

If you only buff weaker perks and don't nerf stronger perks, then you have a problem. The new perks won't be used anyway because people have already found their comfort builds. So you would have to buff them to a point where they are so strong, that they outclass other perks again. And this cycle would have to repeat over and over again.

This is how power creep happens. And it's not going to be healthy for your game. Not for long anyway.

I understand fully that you want to keep the perks you always run. You are comfortable with this build and it works for you. I can relate. If they nerfed BBQ tomorrow and made it useless, then I'd have problem. Because it's my favorite perk in the game. A little bit of info exactly when I need and I only have to do what I would do anyway.

But I wouldn't unequip it no matter what. So they'd have to force me. You might call it tyrannical but this is better than repeating the DH situation where 75% of players would run the same perk. Somehow they managed to keep this game alive in spite all of its flaws but there is no denying that the game can feel stale at times. If a game feels stale for a long time, then people will stop playing and this will lead to the game slowly yet surely reaching the end of its life span.

I agree that the devs have shown how much they care about their game. They might not always see things in the same way we do and sometimes make decisions that we are not happy with but ultimately they do their best. And recently they have also been better at communicating. Overall, I am happy about the direction they want to go in the future even if I don't like the current meta (for both sides).
