"It's better than before!"

This argument of "it's better than before" often comes up when topics such as Dead Hard arise. If someone complains about it, someone will inevitably go, "it was a lot worse before/it's much better than before..."

Regardless of whose side you're on, this is a terrible argument. Pre-rework Nurse was better than Release Day Nurse. Guess what? Nurse is getting nerfed again because she is still stupidly strong.

Let's look at the history of another perk, Decisive Strike. Being allowed to do a gen for 60 seconds with complete immunity to being picked up was better than before when DS was always active and guaranteed a free escape on your first pickup. That meant that DS getting deactivation conditions was unnecessary because it was worse in the past, right?

Please, use any other argument. Something being worse in the past does not suddenly invalidate any concerns/criticisms something is facing now.

  • Circle of Healing is fine now because it's already been nerfed twice!!!

  • My favorite is "killer has never been easier/stronger".

Coming from a 2/10 to a 5/10 may be better but still not enough to compete with a 7/10. (All numbers are purely symbolic.)

  • Or "Game is in the worst state ever" heard every week. A killer main streamer says killer is easy, another killer main streamer complains survivors are too strong. Game is survivor sided, it's also killer sided, this perk is OP and that perk is not, no it's the opposite says the next guy.

The only thing we know for sure is the game is named Dead by Daylight. The rest is a TON of opinions.

The only thing that can be said with 100% certainty is maps are poorly designed.

  • If anyone has played DBD years ago, I think it’s safe to say the game has never been better then before lol. You guys seem to keep forgetting that the majority of player base has gotten a lot more skilled compared to when the game first came out and the devs simply had to adjust. Yea old decisive strike was better for survivors except for the 2% of survivors that were cracked that could hold a chase for more then 15sec it was downright broken.. Having 7 blinks back in the day with recharge addons as nurse was only OP to the 0.3% of players that actually knew how to play her properly.. Whats your point??

7 blink Nurse with recharge? Her rework that added the charge system lowered her max blinks to 3 from 5. 7 blinks was back on release when she didn't even have lightburn, nvm a recharge.

So the literal infinites in old dbd are also a skill issue?

  • Sad but true. The only people still playing Killer are in denial, wishing the role "felt" different than it does.

Very very few survivors knew how to string jungle gyms together with infinites back in the day untill the devs started taking action around early 2019 when the bracket of people that knew how to abuse god windows got bigger and bigger and bigger over time and certain maps that had infinites like ironworks, suffocation pit, rancid etc got reworked/nerfed..Before anyone complains about “new”deadhard remember old Balanced landing??

  • Honestly, if you excluding set-up Killers like Artist, Trapper, Dredge, Hag, etc; Ive honestly been enjoying Killer a lot. Ive been playing a lot of Sadako and PH lately and having tons of fun. I stopped playing Billy recently because the invisible walls they added to stop SkyBilly was interrupting normal gameplay and I got tired of it.

Then again, I dont really care about winning, and I mostly just bring gimmick builds and experiment a lot. Frankly MMR is more useless than a bag of rocks sitting in a river, so getting casual matches isnt hard for me at least. If you are willing to accept that you will lose matches, and that MMR doesnt matter, the game becomes significantly more fun and less miserable.

Do I think some Killers Powers can use buffs? Yes, definitely, but I dont think Killer is as doom and gloom as people make it out to be. I feel like MMR has warped people's perception on the game by a large amount.
