Remeber flashlights?

Remeber when flashlights weren't concidered a "bad" item?

All of these key threads arguing that they're the only good item a survivor has left kinda hurts, the flashlight can do so much more but because it isn't easy to use and takes at least a little bit of time to learn I don't see many actually using flashlights.

Then again most killers (including myself) either try to face a wall when picking up a survivor or run light born if there's more than one surivior so that could be why. But flashlights are a great TEAM item and tbh I'm getting the feeling that they're kinda being underrated

  • People are just using them wrong. Unless the killer has Lightborn, flashlights work great for me.

  • Remeber < Remember

  • I remeber nothing! Flashlights are okay.

  • i havent been scared of a flashlight in years, just pick up survivors facing a wall and you will never be blinded. plus i run Agitation, madgrit,Iron grasp. so they are only helping me by staying close trying to flashlight spam so i can get 2 downs

  • I've recently started using Tier 3 Lightborn and it is basically "f**k you and your flashlight" as a perk. I've actually started going out of my way to make it easier for them to blind me and they just can't unless I stand perfectly still for several seconds.

Combined with how easy it is to bait out, avoid, and listen through flashlights without Lightborn anyway I'd say that they are properly rated as one of the worst Survivor items.

  • tbh flashlights need a rework, the only time you can use them is when the killer is standing still but a lot of killers still complain about them and say it's "toxic".

I was thinking something like, 1 blind = 1 charge?

  • I wouldn't say that they're overpowered, but they're a solid "good" in the right hands. It takes a little coordination, though, you can't just slap on a flashlight and call it a day. The person going down also needs to get somewhere away from walls, but with enough cover nearby for the flashlight user to get into position. If you can do that, there's not a whole lot the killer can do. Either they chase you and risk the slug getting picked up, chase you and return (could get back into position in time if you play your cards right), or pick them up and hope for the best. Worst case scenario, you're making the killer hesitate and waste time.

The reason why they're not very popular likes falls on the fact that they're tricky to use. You need to have nearly perfect timing. Slightly too soon and they won't drop the survivor, slightly too late and they'll turn away. It's not something that you can just pick up and use like a medkit or a toolbox. If someone doesn't have that timing down to a tee, they're going to waste a lot of time that could have been spent doing something productive.

  • They're still used a lot actually... they're just not used over all other items now a days like back then... That's mostly because flashlights before the nerf were insanely accurate at a lot of angles and it got so bad that if a full lobby of Survivors with flashlights came in, than the Killer had no choice but to run Franklins Demise to remove them...

Like, it was way worse before. Now it's pretty ok, and if you get a flashlight save its not really anyones fault but the Killers for not anticipating that by looking at walls when picking up, or taking prior knowledge from seeing the flashlight during the pre-match lobby.
