Clarification on Developer Update (Matchmaking)
First of all, thank you so much for fixing the SWF matchmaking to search for the highest ranked survivor. Given how even relatively low ranked survivors can easily become formidable opponents with constant sharing of information by higher leveled survivors, I believe it is a good change overall that will mitigate the gap between SWF and Solo experience, at least to some degree. I understand that many survivor players who "play just for fun" will probably not like the change due to not being able to beat killer players as easily as they have been able to. But personally, I have always found it sad that this sentiment is usually never shared for the killer players, who are almost always forced to "try-hard" against SWFs no matter what rank they are (unless SWF were being especially idiotic or trolling). Perhaps this recent change will at least allow some killer players to start playing "just for fun", even against SWFs.
I have several questions regarding the SWF matchmaking though.
1. When SWF is mixed with Solo players, how is the game determining the average rank for the killer? For example, let's say SWF (Rank 1, Rank 10, Rank 10) is paired with a Solo (Rank 15). Would they try to find a Rank 4/5 killer by counting the Rank 10s as also being Rank 1s? As in, (1+1+1+15)/4? Or would the game try to find a killer of Rank 8 by simply ignoring lower ranked SWF members? As in (1+15)/2? How is it exactly calculated?
2. Is the "hard limit of 6 ranks above or below your rank" referring to each individual survivor or the average rank of all survivors? And if it is for each individual survivor, would this refer to just your opponent, or in regards to other survivors also? For example, if I am a Rank 1 survivor, is it possible for a Rank 6 survivor who is paired with me to be also paired with a Rank 11, or is he/she cut off from them because they are paired with me (Rank 1)?
3. Is there a reason why Rank 16-20 are given the exceptions to the hard limit rule, but not Rank 1-4? At least on the forums, there seems to be complaints on finding matches in high ranks, at least in certain regions of the world. Why not put in a system that prioritize Rank 1-4 and Rank 16-20 during matchmaking? Is it possible for you to give us a statistics on the % distribution of ranks in, let's say, the middle and end of rank reset?
Thank you again.
