Would A Jump Power Be Too Powerful?

So I've been playing Hide or Die and in the game is a Hunter who can jump long distances and really high, it has already been discussed by the Devs that a flying Killer would be too powerful and would break the game but what if they could jump semi-far?

So picture this, say you're on Suffocation Pit and you(the Killer) are at the edge of the middle jungle gyms and see someone running towards the Killer shack so you leap forward over those loops in front of it and lunge at the door to the shack.

Maybe this Killer can jump over pallets but not over those really tall loops because that would be too much, max height would be those loops you see in Autohaven where it has no walls and just the loop.

I'm thinking this Killer could tap their power to make a small jump that's purely for pallets but to go long distances they would need to stand in place and charge it up, like Nurse you would have to practice with distances. Now this already sounds like Nurse but she can go through walls and pallets while this would go over pallets and over loops without walls only.

Now picture this scenario. You're on Blood Lodge out in the middle of the map and you got lets say Springheel, chasing you. You run for a loop and run through the pallet and drop it instantly, Springheel taps his power and jumps over the pallet but you slide over the pallet at the same time. You run around the loop and he tries to mind game but then he stops and looks like he's charging his power, you can either stay where you are, run, or try to keep looping. Springheel leaps forward at you, if you run you'll probably get hit, if you try the loop again he might miss but you'll garuntee get hit if you stay.

Now if you were at any loop with walls he would be an M1 Killer who's mind game would have to be hiding his Red Stain as he jumps over the pallet and that would be his best option at winning that area.

Add-ons could change jump distance, he would need to be a slow Killer, I'm thinking while he's in the air he can aim and lunge in the direction, some add-ons could be charge speed and jump speed like he jumps forward faster or maybe he can jump twice but it's small jumps. Basically this is like Nurse except it's FORWARD only, you have to stand still to jump, and maybe the jump has a cooldown so you can't spam it?

Comments

  • It would and it wouldn't. It'd basically be S tier power in certain areas, where the killer could just leap over obstacles in a loop to just bypass any and all defenses a survivor have, but it'd also be pretty garbage in areas that's indoors.

  • @se05239 This got me thinking about the hole in Badham in the school that has a pallet with no mind game. This Killer could beat that pallet.

I'm noticing a trend with S Tiers, they all have a speed/distance ability that lets them bypass pallets completely, it gets pretty stale that they all do the same thing.

  • Legion was able to get over pallets quickly, remember how survivors reacted.

I have an really old killer concept on the steam forums which was quite similiar. I think a jump/dash killer would need some sort of interaction when colliding with "walls" or the "ceiling", like a small "wall jump chain time window" or whatever suits that particular killers kit.

The "nurse with collision" idea could work, but not with the current trend of ability restrictions.

  • @Raptorrotas Funny story, a few days before Legion was officially showcased I was watching a theory video of what Legion's power could be and in the comments someone said ''what if their power was to jump over pallets?'' I was the first to say it was overpowered and no way would it ever make it into the game, and then Legion was released XD

Yeah that happens sometimes. But some "what if " abilities are rather common.

-"Survivor can interact with stuff the killer cannot, so lets make a killer who can"

Appearance: V1: This Killer wears a worn-down hoodie and tattered pants hold together by Tape and crude patchworks. I'd like for him to have som sort of Scarf to obscure the lower half of his face. I'd like the scarf to have physics similar to the huntress's veil, i think it'd look nice. -Inspiration: L4D Hunter or Raziel V:2 Alternatively it could be a much wished for werewolf, the weapon would be his own claws then Weapon: Fake beast claws A pair of wrist mounted crude blades on each hand,...

Lol found my old (older than huntress i think) concept, it's pretty barebones and more " dashing andclimbing walls" than just jumping over stuff.

The biggest problem with such parkours movement focused killers would be the current focus on long cooldowns for each ability use.

  • @Raptorrotas That's a really cool idea, surprised it didn't get any comments. This kind of came true with Legion, the outfit and the dash plus the climbing over the ''waist high'' pallet.
