New Killer Suggestion - The Pale One (Slenderman)

The Pale One

Tall

4.6 m/s

8m Terror Radius

38m Lullaby (simply a deep echoing bass thumping periodically similarly to the 8 pages game)

Some lore from slender man wiki -

"One of the most common features of The Slender Man... is that he will target those who reach a certain level of understanding about it... it seems that being a victim of The Slender Man is almost contagious... One can become his prey by encountering someone he is already chasing. Basic research and even collecting images doesn’t appear to incur its notice, someone has to delve into the mythos in an almost obsessive way... how he could be able to track several victims at once, due to the apparent number of people invested in the mythos. This theory states that he is a sort of omnipresent being..."

Related theories of his power from the same source "The Slender Man's original abilities included:

  • selective invisibility (say, to adults or anyone without a camera)
  • the ability to change height and body shape"
  • Is know to be able to shape its arms into tentacles

His Power: M2- Selective invisibility - By pressing Mouse two for 1 second The Pale One can turn completely transparent at will similar to wraith but even while moving he is undetectable by any natural means, even collision with survivors. The pale one moves at 2.5x the rate of normal movement speed while invisible. Still has collision with normal objects. The pale one still plays a lullaby at 38m while cloaked which does not change in volume in conjunction to his distance away from the survivor. The pale one can not uncloak within a survivors visual prowess maximum of 48m view distance or while within 8m of a survivor, regardless of where the survivor is looking. Uncloaking is a cast time of 1 second and (debatably) makes no sound notifications for survivors.

While visible the pale ones passive ability takes effect - sigma radiation - the pale ones presence is know to disturb technology and disturb the mind. When a survivor is within 6m of the pale one or looking at the pale one anywhere on their screen, a radiation meter begins to rise, filling completely after (debatable) 8 seconds of sigma radiation. Being within 6m of another survivor that is already fully radiated will also increase this meter. While becoming radiated the survivors screen goes slightly static with some abrupt distorted sounds. Other survivors can see others radiation level through a meter on the lower left hub. The pale one detects survivor radiation levels through color gradually increasing to a darker red outline of the actual survivor player model within the trial eventually become full dark red and a sound indication with altered music following afterwards to notify the pale one has succeeded in fully radiating that survivor. Being radiated triggers the blindness status effect and also causes skill checks to have no sound notification, they are half as big, appear anywhere on the screen, even upside down, and the meter can trigger from left to right or right to left. (Debatable) survivors enter a state similar to freddy's dream state but not as severe? When a survivor is in full tradition (or dementia?), they are now able to find one of the 8 pages layed out randomly on the map. The pages do not light up, they must be found by natural means. Finding and taking a page helps the survivor learn more about the pale one, removing the radiation (maybe change the radiated status effect to dementia). Also removing that page permanently, leaving only 7 left for other survivors to get.

The pale one grows stronger with each page found. (Debatable) he has no lullaby until the first page is found for consistency with the game?

When the 5th page is found, the pale one gains a new ability.

-dimensional teleportation- with a 20 second recharge, the pale one can teleport 24m directly in front of the survivors view at the time.(hotkey being e? Or m2 when looking at the targeting survivors model? Not sure what works better) regardless of the survivors radiation state. When survivors find the 8th and final page (heres where I can use some suggestions)

Idea 1 - generator progress rate of survivors is permanently increased by 25% and skill check appearance rates are reduced by half. But the dimentia state is now permanent. In order to reward survivors but also not hinder the pale one too much? Since the flavor of the original is supposed to be rewarding to all pages for survivors.

Idea 2 - is just idea 1 except the pale one gains expose status on those under his dementia after all 8 pages are attained by survivors. Since the lore is that learning more makes him increasingly more dangerous. So the reward goes both ways and might actually make for interesting decision making based on the situation of the match.

Idea 3- after the 8th page is found the pale one can now see survivor auras at all times, and there is now 4 or 5 cameras placed around the map that survivors can interact with to escape their dimensia. Which lights up similarly to the new freddy rework wake up.

Addons would just increase the rates of his ability or his invisible movement speed, or maybe reduce teleportation to 3 pages or distance dropped. Use your imagination for this part. His most overpowered addons probably giving him teleportation after 1 page or something clearly broken.

His map would be either the orinigal forest themed off of the orinigal, or the custom made but still popular mansion, and of course the tunnels.

If you enjoyed this enjoy, discuss with me below on how we can actually make this a theoretically viable killer.

  • Slenderman is a problem on two fronts. There's no license for him because he's a folktale creation, but he's also not original since he has his own game. There would put the game designers in a bit of a problematic situation on character creation without being able to make an original killer or buy a license.

Also, Slenderman's lore doesn't lend well to playing the game like other killers do. He becomes more deadly as you look at him which would be a massive problem for survivor balance. And he's supposed to slowly creep up on his victims which would be a massive problem for killer balance.

Good point there but they managed to work it out with ghost face somehow right? Also they're going to figure out how to incorporate stranger things. It's definitely doable.

His lore involves him becoming more powerful the more you learn about him, which I personally think is perfect for the entity. We dont know what it is now do we? We have a lot of stealth killers which most players agree is some of the most fun to play as and against.

Maybe it's just me, but I think the idea of adding a killer mechanic to avoid looking at the killer is fantastic. It will punish nosey survivors and flashlighters, and create really interesting chase and mind game dynamics since the killer is trying to make you look at him rather then the other way around. And not looking at him could end in your death, or maybe you manage to limit the amount of times you look back at the killer and save it for crucial moments in the chase.
