Dark Devotion: What is it good for ?

"You become obsessed with one Survivor. Hitting the Obsession with your basic attack causes the Obsession to emit a Terror Radius of 32 metres for 20 seconds. During that time, your Terror Radius is reduced to 0 metres.

This effect can only be triggered once every 60/45/30 seconds. The Obsession hears the Terror Radius they emit for the duration."

The more I look at this perk, the more I wonder, what is it for exactly ? It looks fun on paper but the conditions to activate it make it near useless in pratice. It only works on the obsession, only with your basic attack and only for 20 seconds.

So in order to make use of this you have to stumble onto your obsession, hit them once, let them go and find another survivor to spook within 20 seconds somehow. Why do that when its probably much easier and usefull to hit your first target a second time and down them ? Its not good for killers that don't rely mainly on their basic attack (wich include the Plague...) and its not good with other TR perks either as it just create another TR out of your control.

So I can see 3 ways to make this perk a bit more usefull.

-First it needs to last a bit longer. 20 seconds is ridiculously short and there is not much of use you can accomplish within that time.

Second, either keep the duration relatively short but make it no longer an obsession perk or keep it an obsession perk, but make it last way longer.

The third option is to not make it supress the killer's own TR. This way it would act as a TR extender, synernizing with other TR perks.

I guess you could also make it work for non-basic attacks too. Its so circumstance specific right now anyway, I doubt it would make it OP.

Its a fun idea for a perk, but it really looks like not enough tought was put into its practical use.

  • It's a "hit and abandon" perk. Having literally no terror radius gives killers immense map pressure. Imagine having a Leatherface literally strolling up behind you back while you're working on a generator. That's a big oof.

  • I'm actually surprised by how useful the perk is. It's not top tier but it's probably one of the best obsession based perks for non-ambush killers. The lack of heartbeat can get a couple of easy grabs and hits. All at the cost of hitting a particular survivor.

  • I said it before the plague was released.

She have nice perks, but the numbers are important.

And yeah all numbers are rly bad.

  • Honestly, give the perk another 15 seconds.

AND ALLOW SPECIAL HITS (Nurse Blink, Huntress Hatchet, Billy Saw, etc) TO ALLOW THE PERK TO ACTIVATE!

    It doesn’t need more time.

It’s fine as it is. If you can’t make those 20 seconds count then you’re simply not playing optimally.

Maybe some people like playing other Killers besides Billy and Nurse.

  • It's kinda fun on T3 Myers 😃

  • Absolutely Nothing! Wah huh yea.

It's a dice roll against SWF it's worthless since they have eyes and ears pretty much everywhere.

Also im pretty sure it's also ruined (get it!) by Spine Chill since it will still warn them you are coming even with 0 radius.

That said it can probably be niche use for fun with certain builds and killers.
