Where tf is freddys rework?

Like seriously he is my fav killer of all time but y’all made him weak on here like super weak he could of been so much better. You guys promised a rework now y’all done with killers and I know ash is coming BUT I NEED FREDDY REWORK

Comments

  • Fine how? His power is to hit you and knows where you are outside terror radius but it takes time to put people in the dream state and depending what add ons you’ either get hindered or slightly buff the power or both. If you tunnel hard with him then yeah I’m sure he is fine but I’m not the type to tunnel or camp, that’s lame. If survivors pop all gens and no one is dead yet it’s pretty much GG for freddy unless he has noed and remember me fully stacked. If not freddys completely weak

  • Can you submit gameplay, because you're always talking about how he's fine but a lot of people say otherwise.

Freddy should only ever 100% tunnel the obsession if he’s running Remember Me or Dying Light.

    Otherwise Freddy’s priorities are:

    • when spotting survivors put ALL that you see asleep.
    • Always kick a gen first after Dream Demon, THEN chase (they’re easy to find now. Moonwalk if you must)
    • HOWEVER never EVER mindlessly get into a chase with a survivor when none of the other survivors are asleep, UNLESS there is a strategic reason to do so (you know for certain the gens you’re guarding have little repairs done, and you’re certain the others aren’t nearby.
    • Otherwise abandon the chase to find the other survivors coz they’re likely attempting to gen rush you (again, unless your search takes you too far away from the optimal gens to guard). Even get one hit in and run away back to your gens, let that injured survivor waste time trying to wake up and heal themselves while you find the others.
    • dont stress about asleep survivors waking themselves up via failed gen skill checks. You WANT them to regress the gens. The more relentlessly you keep putting survivors back to sleep, the more intentional failed skill checks, the slower gens get repaired.
    • think more carefully about where you want to place yourself before using Dream Demon on survivors. Psyche them out by following them while still invisible to entice reckless decisions (such as making them waste pallets) before using Dream Demon. Another trick, If they’re on a gen but near a vault or pallet, position yourself so that you can put yourself immediately on the otherside of the vault or pallet after using Dream Demon. It’s surprising how often this works in catching survivors dashing straight to “safety” completely by surprise.

Often Freddy players get frustrated because they get too narrowly focused on always trying to down the very first survivor they see and put to sleep, and while they do this they’re being gen rushed. There’s nothing super duper wrong with doing this very early in the match, but the 50% action penalty and 1 or 2 failed skills doesn’t do much in Freddy’s favour. But relentlessly putting back to sleep ALL remaining survivors, or at least trying to make sure never more than 1 is awake at a time for too long a period, well then that becomes a game changer, and 2 dozen, 3 dozen, or even as many as 4 dozen gen failed skill checks doesn’t sound terrible either. Amongst all this with Freddy making gen repairs an awful experience for the survivors, you wear the survivors patience down, they waste pallets, they eventually become reckless and you start to get your downs and your hooks. Also slugging the last 2 or 3 survivors if they are all asleep is a perfectly smart strategy (you’ll always know where the dying survivors are)

This works to a point, but at some point you have to down and hook survivors. Extending the match doesn't do much if you're just walking around the map and repeatedly putting people to sleep. That's another easy Freddy trap to fall into. Freddy's biggest problem is that his success is largely tied to RNG.

    @Mcfred

play the long game. Wear the survivors down.

Just because you 4k against survivors that don't know what they're doing doesn't mean he's good. He's complete trash the thing a survivor needs to do is loop you easiest braindead counter Freddy sucks.

  • Dear Sweet Pickled Baby Jesus on a corn dog stick, are we trying to infer a 30-minute match is optimal as Freddy? Does that not in and of itself show something? That's some Rocky Balboa-level of "wearing 'em down," right there. Match that long needs an intermission at the halfway point 'cause I'd have to stop for 2 pee breaks and a ham sammich.

  • Is uh no one gonna mention the transition time between awake and asleep completely destroys any chance of killing survivors during the end game...

    >Freddy's one positive benefit to his active ability is the delay: gen progress is slowed unless the survivor gets rid of it. How much marginal utility does it grant though for a very good player?

    >Freddy's power largely just makes up for skills that weaker players lack; not being good at tracking and maintain a chase, so it enables them to find the survivor again after losing them. A good player can of course choose to cast Dream Demon on someone but then deliberately not chase them (and without being injured they can't Self-Care their way out of it). It makes sense if you have survivors together.

    >But how much use is it if the killer knows what they're doing and the survivors know what they're doing? As a survivor I would know to stay away from the other survivors; if they're running and are asleep, good idea to assume Freddy is chasing them. I'd know to wake up anyone who goes for a gen and if I am being chased, to keep avoiding others so Freddy can't sleep them too. Apart from that, it's the usual survivor-meta of stall the killer until the gens are done. As a Freddy, once it's clear the survivors are competent then I can't depend on the stall because Freddy has no in-chase utility. Many killers that the kind of Freddy-main that believes he's strong usually list as inferior to him (Leatherface, Trapper) do.

    >Freddy is one of the killers where giving up on a stubborn chase is something you're more likely to have to do in order to be doing the stalling rather than getting stalled.

@MrBamboozled i’ve never encountered that problem (rarely) because i ensure most are already asleep by endgame (or all of them). I’m relentless in my pursuit of keeping, or re-putting survivors back to sleep, abandoning chases if i have to to find the other survivors.

Furthermore i’ve learned to use Freddy in such a way that it’s ridiculously difficult for the survivors to get all 5 gens repaired. My minimum match time is 15 minutes. I’m just not ever gen rushed with how i use Dream Demon.

That is indeed THE most important thing to do as Freddy: Survivors must be asleep as often and as long as possible. If you're chasing a Survivor, but come across one mid-chase that isn't yet asleep, put them to sleep while still chasing the other one.

  • We don't want him to be changed :-D
