Abandon Changes Are A Nightmare

Removing the ability to Abandon when slugged 3 times is a HUGE mistake. I just had a match where the killer slugged all but 1 player repeatedly and it was a nightmare not having the option to Abandon.

If this change is implemented, there is no way any sane survivor player would not abandon and take the DC penalty, which will only lead to even fewer survivor players in the queue - either held hostage in slugfest matches or unable to play due to a DC penalty.

The Abandon feature after 3 slugs is the best feature in the game - not only does it allow the survivor to continue on to (hopefully) more normal matches, but also sends a clear message to the killer that both the player and the game do not condone the playstyle.

  • I mean all the 3 slug abandon did outside of those cases (which is rarer than what im about to say) was have people literally purposefully run at you over and over to get themselves downed 3 times so they could legal dc. It told them "hey heres a good way to throw the match and get to abandon thus not getting you a dc or matchmaking penalty for throwing" so id rather slug gets addressed on its own and hopefully with proper feedback now that abandons arent messing up the data they can see that and fix it long term.

You had to be left to fully recover by yourself or by a team mate twice, and then be slugged again. Believe me this is the saving grace of bad solo queue games. If the stats are so high on people abandoning like this, it just shows how necessary it actually is.

  • it's probably a sign there is anti slug coming, though IDK why they didnt just do it when anti slug is a thing.

I'll be avoiding any twins matches at all costs solo Q rn because of it.

  • Also I am understanding it right that with the "End Trial" option, once the killer has slugged everyone and they all "Surrender", the killer doesn't need to clean up their own mess by finding and hooking the slugs?

If so, this is would be a perverse incentive for killers to slug for an even faster 4k without the inconvenience of actually sacrificing them to the entity.

I hope so, but honestly I'm not that optimistic about it. You could say that the reason they are obliterating anti-tunnel perks and making unhook protections weaker is because anti-tunnel is also coming, but realistically I can't be optimistic about that. If they were going to add these, why wouldn't they announce that they're working on them when they can see the community is in discourse because of these issues? Especially when they've been relatively communicative about most upcoming patches and a general idea of what they will contain nowadays.

  • Excessive slugging is something that needs to be addressed directly through actual game mechanics; completely scrapping the previous anti-slug changes instead of continuing to iterate on it was a mistake. Having an abandon option related to it was only a band-aid solution
