The Judgement's Divine Light Improvement Proposal (New "Trial" Mechanism Idea)
Introduction
- As someone who enjoys playing The Judgment and wants to keep enjoying the killer, I feel this killer currently has two extremes: Divine Light can sometimes land consistently enough to make the killer feel overpowered and the game unhealthy, or it can end up missing Divine Light repeatedly, which can be extremely frustrating.
- I think the changes in Version 10.1.2 that improved the QoL of Divine Light and made it easier to land on survivors were good, as they make the killer feel more satisfying to play. However, I think the average damage dealt by each use of Divine Light should be slightly lower to achieve a better balance.
- My proposed approach is to make Divine Light even easier to land, while lowering its average damage output in return.
Here’s a specific basekit idea I came up with.
- Make the Divine Light Damage Radius significantly smaller than it is now, but increase the Divine Light Killer Instinct range, so that Killer Instinct is easier to apply to survivors.
- Survivors affected by Divine Light Killer Instinct would be put into "Trial" state for a short time (their icon would change to Red color). If The Judgement applies Killer Instinct to survivor in the Trial state, that survivor would enter the Heresy state and take 1 damage (the Trial state ends immediately).
- In other words, applying Killer Instinct twice by Divine Light in quick succession would have the same result as a direct hit damage.
However, as mentioned above, the normal damage radius would be much smaller than it is now. Without making use of this Trial mechanic (i.e., without using Divine Light multiple times), it would be difficult to deal damage to survivors.
As a result of this change
- To summarize, this adjustment would make it more likely that players need to use Divine Light more times to deal damage, while also making damage opportunities easier to create.
- This would help bring The Judgement down from its current OP state, while reducing the frustration of using Divine Light repeatedly without ever managing to deal damage.
It would also give opponents a more exciting and engaging experience. After being put into the Trial state, they would need to react quickly and dodge the next Divine Light to avoid getting hit. I think this would make fights with The Judgement feel more thrilling and rewarding for both sides.
Additional ideas
- A. Applying the Divine Light Killer Instinct without landing a direct hit, reduces the cooldown of Divine Light.
- B. While Zealous, applying the Divine Light Killer Instinct just once is enough to inflict the Heresy state on the survivors.
- C. Against survivors in the Heresy state, the damage radius of Divine Light is slightly wider, making it easier to land a direct hit.
My English isn't very good, so I used a translator for this. Thanks for reading!
