Why Chucky's Scamper Cancel Should Have Been Limited, Not Deleted
I think the biggest problem with Chucky's changes is not that BHVR wanted to nerf a strong mechanic. I understand why the Scamper Cancel Flick was considered too powerful. Being able to repeatedly force impossible angles around windows and pallets was unhealthy for the game, especially against survivors who had no real way to react. The mechanic was strong and needed adjustments.
However, completely removing it was the wrong solution. Instead of deleting one of the most unique parts of Chucky's skill expression, BHVR could have added restrictions that kept the mechanic balanced while still rewarding experienced players.
A better solution would have been limiting the Scamper Cancel Flick to once per window or pallet. This would prevent Chucky from abusing it repeatedly throughout a chase while still allowing skilled players to create a high-risk, high-reward outplay. The survivor would know Chucky has that option, but Chucky would have to choose the right moment to use it instead of relying on it every time.
The problem with current Chucky is that his power has lost a lot of its identity. At high MMR, Slice & Dice becomes predictable because experienced survivors understand the timing, the audio cues, and the limited movement options. Many situations that should feel like a skilled Chucky outplay instead become safer to just walk up and basic attack.
Chucky was never just about being strong. He was fun because he rewarded mastery. Learning his flicks, angles, and movement made thousands of hours feel meaningful. Removing those mechanics didn't just lower his power; it removed the reason many dedicated Chucky players invested so much time into him.
Meanwhile, newer killers and reworked killers have received powerful chase tools that allow strong movement options and unique playstyles. That makes it frustrating for Chucky players because mechanics that defined Chucky were considered too much, while similar concepts continue to exist in other forms.
The goal should not be to make Chucky overpowered again. The goal should be to make him rewarding again. A limited Scamper Cancel system would have kept his identity, preserved counterplay, and given experienced Chucky players a reason to keep mastering him

i don’t think they should be adding bugs (exploits since this could be used to gain an unfair advantage) to the base character. chucky’s dash is already fairly strong once you get the hang of it, and adding the scancel would just make him obnoxious. they should give him something else if he’s underperforming or feeling awful to play. not make exploits basekit.
Chucky’s dash is strong when you get good with it yes, but my argument is at high MMR survivors also know how to play around it. A lot of the old depth came from being able to create unexpected situations instead of just lining up a dash or going for an M1.
So I agree that bugs shouldn’t become mechanics, but I think BHVR missed an opportunity to turn what players enjoyed about the tech into a balanced feature instead of removing it completely.
