I had made a custom chapter that I’d love to see in the game.

First of all I’m making this post because I would love to share my idea with everyone within the community, and for this post to get recognition. Secondly, I would love for people in the DBD community to take a look at what I’ve come up with so I can get feedback on what people like and dislike, and what people think should be tweaked. So people feel welcome to join in and comment on this post and tell me your opinions. Maybe even come up with things together, especially for balance changes because I’m aware of how mechanically game breaking or oppressive this chapter could be.

Here is the complete, finalized master blueprint of my current custom winter-themed Dead by Daylight Chapter: Glacial Horror. This comprehensive summary integrates every single unique mechanic, map-spawning logic, custom status effect, and perk exactly as I designed them.

🏔️ New Chapter: Glacial Horror

🧌 The Killer: "The Abominable" (The Yeti)

A massive apex predator covered in matted white fur and ice shards. He is a heavy anti-loop and area-denial killer inspired by a PvZ-style boss moveset.

Base Stats

  • Movement Speed: 4.4 m/s (110%) — Slower base speed balances out his extreme slowdown powers.
  • Terror Radius: 32 Meters.
  • Height: Tall.

Core Power: Glacial Arsenal & Frostbite

  • Yeti Icicle (Ranged & Utility Projectile): The Yeti hurls a massive icicle forward. Direct hits apply 50% Frostbite and significantly Hindered the survivor. At 100% Frostbite, the next icicle injures them.
    • Wall Hit (The Trap): If the Yeti fully charges an icicle and hits a vertical surface, it explodes into a Glacial Grasp ice-hand trap on that wall. If a survivor wall-hugs a trapped loop, the icy hands burst forward to slow them down for 3 seconds based on their current cold level (0% Cold = 20% Hindered | 50% Cold = 35% Hindered | 100% Cold = 50% Hindered). Maximum 4 Traps at a time.
    • Ground Hit (The Shockwave): If the Yeti fully charges an icicle and hits the ground, it shatters violently, sending out a 6-meter chilled shockwave that applies those exact same scaling Hindered penalties (20% / 35% / 50%) to anyone caught inside.
  • The Screen Frost Overlay: As a survivor's Frostbite builds up, their screen progressively frosts over from the edges inward. At 100% Frostbite, the screen is heavily encased in ice, leaving only a small clear circle in the absolute center, severely restricting peripheral vision.
  • The 30-Second Hypothermia Freeze: If a survivor stays at 100% Frostbite for over 30 consecutive seconds, they gain a permanent 5% Hindered penalty until they warm back up to 0%.
  • The Shatter Shot (Healthy State Down): If a survivor is completely frozen at 100% Frostbite, a fully charged Yeti Icicle thrown directly at them will completely shatter them, putting them instantly into the Dying State from a healthy state.
  • Ice Storm (Area Control): The Yeti channels a heavy stomp, raining sharp icicles over a targeted 12-meter zone. Survivors inside build rapid Frostbite and are injured if they stay inside for more than 2 seconds.
  • Ice Blast (Close Range & Tantrum): The Yeti slams his fists into the earth, emitting a 8-meter shockwave that freezes dropped pallets/vaults for 10 seconds, inflicts max Frostbite, and applies Concussion.
    • The Visual Scream: Any survivor within 16 meters who has direct line-of-sight to the Yeti when he performs this ground-smash tantrum will gasp and scream in terror.
    • Requires Max Rage: Rage gradually fills while in chase with a survivor, and the rage meter instantly fills by 35% when pallet-stunned or blinded.
    • While fully Enraged The Abominable’s base movement speed goes from 4.4m/s to 4.6m/s. While fully Enraged The Abominable emits a heat wave from his body causing nearby survivors to gradually lose Frostbite.

🧠 New Status Effect: Concussion

Simulates severe head trauma from massive physical impact, targeting a survivor's sensory awareness for 45 seconds.

  • The Blur: Every 12 seconds, the survivor's vision heavily blurs for 2 seconds.
  • The Spiral: If a concussed survivor runs nonstop for 8 consecutive seconds, their screen begins to tilt and spiral, and a piercing, high-pitched ringing noise completely drowns out the Killer’s Terror Radius audio.

🔥 Map Counter-Mechanic: The Torches & Campfires

To survive against the Yeti’s oppressive frost control, specialized map tools spawn onto every single map in the game when playing against him:

  • The Fire Barrels / Campfires: Exactly 4 Fire Barrels spawn across any realm. They are governed by strict spawning algorithms: they must be a minimum of 40 meters away from one another, and they cannot spawn within 12 meters of a Generator, Scourge Hook, or the Basement to prevent killer proxy-camping.
  • Stoking the Flame: Survivors spend 6 seconds lighting a campfire, creating a bright 12-meter Warmth Zone for 60 seconds that completely melts wall traps and melts the visual frost overlay off their screen instantly.
  • The Torches: 6 to 8 Extinguished Torches spawn around the map. Survivors must grab them and spend 5 seconds thawing them near a campfire. Once lit, they burn for 45 seconds.
  • The Fire Buff: As long as a survivor actively holds a lit Torch, the Yeti's icicles melt mid-air, wall traps melt as they run past, and the Elusive status effect, along with a 3% Haste is granted.
  • The Yeti's Retaliation: If a torch-bearer is hit by the Ice Storm or Ice Blast, the torch is extinguished. If the Yeti stomps a dropped torch, it is Frozen in Ice for 60 seconds (cannot be picked up or thawed). If a survivor holds a frozen torch, they gradually accumulate Frostbite.

🌪️ Environmental Mechanic: The Map-Wide Blizzard

A permanent, localized snowstorm ravages any trial grounds when playing against the Yeti, preventing survivors from hiding indefinitely.

  • The Active Frostbite Build-Up: A thick, icy fog hovers along the ground level. If a survivor stands still, crouches in a corner, or hides inside a locker, they gradually accumulate 1% Frostbite every second while outside of chase, and accumulate 1.5% Frostbite while in chase(reaching 100% Frostbite in just over 65 seconds).
  • Halting the Chill: Actively running or repairing generators keeps a survivor's blood pumping, completely freezing the passive blizzard build-up (though it does not clear existing Frostbite stacks). Standing within a 12-meter campfire warmth zone is the only way to clear Frostbite back down to 0%.

🏰 New Map: The Sunken Caldera: Glacial Abyss

A highly vertical, atmospheric map built with two distinct gameplay layers:

  • Ground Level (The Frozen Estate): Features a massive, dilapidated 19th-century research mansion half-buried in a glacier alongside a wide-open, frozen lake. Ideal for survivors managing torch timers and spotting the Yeti from afar.
  • Underground Layer (The Glacial Abyss): A dark, subterranean labyrinth of ancient frozen architectural ruins and tight corridors. The perfect claustrophobic playground for the Yeti to trap walls and blast the ground with 6-meter shockwaves.

🩸 Unique Killer Perks

1. Scourge Hook: Chilled to the Bone (S-Tier)

  • At the start of the Trial, up to 4 hooks become Scourge Hooks.
  • When a survivor is hooked on a Scourge Hook, all 4 Scourge Hooks across the entire map activate an absolute zero aura.
  • Any survivor within 8 meters of any Scourge Hook suffers a massive 10% Hindered status effect.
  • This 10% Hindered effect lingers for 6 seconds after leaving the 8-meter hook zone.
  • “The air grows biting cold, freezing the blood of anyone who dares to venture near the frozen remains.”

2. Snowball (A-Tier)

  • Your momentum builds rapidly like an avalanche as you secure your prey, while your heavy hands leave survivors heavily dazed.
  • Whenever you put a Survivor into the Dying State or Hook a Survivor, you instantly gain a 10% Haste status effect for 10 seconds.
  • Basic attacks (M1) successfully hitting a Survivor inflict the Concussion status effect for 45 seconds(built-in passive like Sloppy Butcher).
  • “Once the slide starts, there is no stopping the mountain from falling.”

3. Hex: Chills All Over (S-Tier Synergy Multiplier)

  • A Hex that freezes the very blood of those trapped inside your domain.
  • While its associated Hex Totem stands, every 35 seconds, all survivors currently within your Terror Radius scream and reveal their location.
  • The Catalyst Effect: Anytime a survivor screams from any source while this Hex is active (including the Yeti's base-kit visual tantrum, Infectious Fright, or Face the Darkness), they instantly suffer a 5% Hindered status effect for 5 seconds.
  • “A sudden shiver seizes your spine. He is close, and your legs refuse to move.”

🥼 New Survivor: Dr. Elena Vance

An Antarctic paleobiologist who was the head field researcher stationed at The Sunken Caldera before it was lost to the ice. Her expertise in deep-crust glacial biology led her to discover the frozen remnants of the Yeti before the Entity swallowed the entire research base.

🧥 Visual Appearance

  • Default Gear: A heavy, crimson field parka over thick tactical snow pants and insulated thermal boots, with frost-covered safety goggles pushed up onto her forehead.
  • Prestige Outfit: Her heavy park coat is shredded by massive claw marks, frozen solid with jagged blue ice crystals, and drenched in the signature dark blood of the Entity.

🧬 Elena Vance's 3 Unique Universal Perks.

1. Delicacy (A-Tier Stealth Chase Perk)

You have learned to take meticulous care of fragile things, allowing you to vanish into the fog when broken.

While you are in the Healthy State, running in an active chase with the Killer charges this perk. For every 1 second spent in a healthy chase, the post-injury duration increases by 0.5 seconds, up to a maximum of 20 seconds (requires a 40-second healthy chase to fully charge).

Once Delicacy reaches its maximum charge, the perk becomes primed. The next time you lose a health state by any means (Basic attacks, Special powers, or environment damage), the perk triggers:

  • You instantly gain the Elusive status effect for 20 seconds (completely suppressing scratch marks, blood pools, grunts of pain, and blocking Killer aura-reading).
  • This perk deactivates early if you are put into the Dying State or are successfully Healed.
  • Once triggered, Delicacy is completely depleted and cannot activate again until it is fully recharged to 100%.
  • “You’ve learned to take care of fragile things.”

2. Precise Measurements (A-Tier Anti-Debuff Support)

Your scientific accuracy ensures that every medical treatment is flawless, neutralizing toxins and trauma on impact.

Whenever you complete a healing action on yourself or another Survivor (such as completing a Med-Kit heal, a standard altruistic heal, or finishing an Inner Healing cleanse), Precise Measurementstriggers:

  • All temporary negative status effects currently affecting the healed Survivor are instantly and completely removed. This includes Mangled, Hemorrhage, Concussion, Blindness, Oblivious, Hindered, Exhausted, and forms of Exposed caused by killer perks.
  • This perk cannot remove status effects originating from an active Hex Totem, Killer-specific Madness, or the Broken status effect.
  • “A precise incision and the proper dosage can reverse even the most severe trauma.”

3. Environmental Expert (S-Tier Active Utility)

Your field training allows you to repurpose extreme temperature canisters into makeshift defensive tools.

After being in an active chase with the Killer for a total of 60 seconds, Environmental Expertactivates:

  • Approach any opened or unopened Chest and press the Active Ability Button 2 to rummage through it and retrieve a Frost Canister.
  • Dropping the canister on the ground causes it to detonate instantly, emitting a 5-meter radiuscloud of absolute-zero chilled air that lasts for 3 seconds.
  • Any Killer who steps inside the cloud is instantly inflicted with a 15% Hindered status effect for the duration of the cloud, giving you the perfect window to safely extend a loop or escape.
  • “Emergency cooling canisters aren't just for preservation. Drop one at their feet and watch them freeze solid.”

Here is the official lore and backstory for the Glacial Horror Chapter, exploring the history of The Abominable and Dr. Elena Vance, and explaining how the Entity dragged them both from the frozen depths of the Sunken Caldera.

🏔️ Chapter Lore: The Sunken Caldera Incident

🧌 The Killer Background: The Abominable (The Apex Primeval)

Long before mankind carved lines onto maps, the Antarctic was not a wasteland of barren ice, but a dense, prehistoric tundra ruled by ancient titans. Among them was a colossal, territorial predator—the apex of primeval rage. It possessed a biology attuned to absolute zero, generating a freezing aura from its skin that could stop the blood of its prey mid-heartbeat.

When a sudden, cataclysmic pole shift plunged the continent into a perpetual ice age, the creature did not starve. It retreated deep into a massive geothermal caldera beneath the crust, slipping into a millenia-long hibernation inside a glacier of pure, compressed ice. It became a myth, a phantom trapped in time, waiting for someone foolish enough to disturb its tomb.

🥼 The Survivor Background: Dr. Elena Vance

Dr. Elena Vance was a woman driven by cold, analytical facts. As the lead paleobiologist for the Weyland-Erickson Antarctic Research Initiative, she spent years commanding the Sunken Caldera Station—a high-tech laboratory built inside a subterranean labyrinth of ancient, pre-human ruins discovered deep beneath the ice sheet.

While her colleagues focused on weather tracking, Elena drilled into the deepest glacial layers, fascinated by anomalies in the infrared core scans. Her sensors kept picking up a strange, concentrated heat pocket that wasn't geothermal—it was moving. It was a metabolic rhythm, slow and rhythmic, locked deep within the primary glacial shelf. Ignoring safety protocols from corporate headquarters, Elena ordered a high-voltage thermal drill to pierce the ancient ice shelf. She thought she was discovering the evolutionary breakthrough of the century. She didn't realize she was waking up a nightmare.

🌪️ The Backstory: The Night the World Froze

The drill breached the core at 02:00 AM.

The reaction was instantaneous. The absolute-zero thermal drop shattered the station’s primary generators, plunging the subterranean base into absolute darkness. From the cracked ice shelf, a deafening, ancient roar echoed through the steel corridors, buckling the metal walls. The Abominablehad awakened, starved and blind with primal fury.

Elena watched through her emergency lab monitors as her entire research team was systematically hunted down. The creature didn't just kill; it manipulated the environment itself. Giant frozen claws erupted from the metal walls to snatch fleeing scientists. Fully charged ice projectiles shattered bodies into frozen shards. The air in the facility plummeted to a lethal negative eighty degrees, frosting over Elena's safety goggles and blinding her peripheral vision.

Desperate to survive, Elena grabbed an emergency torch from a wall rack, thawing it near a burning fuel barrel. Wielding the flame, she realized the creature's icy projectiles melted when they flew near the heat. She managed to slip past the beast, running through the freezing corridors of the collapsing research station, heading for the elevator shaft to the surface.

But as she reached the main elevator grid on the frozen lake level, a sudden, unnatural fog rolled across the ice. It wasn't snow—it was thick, black, and choked with the scent of stagnant blood and rot.

Behind her, the Yeti lunged forward, smashing the frozen ground with its fists in a furious tantrum. Elena looked back, screaming in pure terror as the shockwave extinguished her torch, leaving her completely defenseless. The freezing air locked her legs like lead, and her screen of vision completely frosted over into blackness.

But the final strike never came.

When Elena opened her eyes, the roaring winds of the Antarctic were gone. The research station was gone. Instead, she was standing in a dim, decaying forest surrounded by rows of burning fire barrels, with a distant campfire crackling in the fog. [1]

Deep in the woods, a terrifyingly familiar roar shook the earth, accompanied by the distinct sound of ice scraping against stone. The Abominable had a new hunting ground, and Dr. Elena Vance was trapped in a trial that would never melt away.

Please give feedback, and what you’d personally like to be tweaked or changed. Also introduce better and longer lore/backstories if you can because I kind of just put a bunch of randomness together.
