New Game Mode Suggestion. 'Gauntlet' - New game mode addition to pair with Chorus of Sin
This is just a rough concept I had been thinking of for a bit.
This is a 3 map match lineup, where survivors need to escape the maps assigned or capture all 3 shrines. It's 4 players, death is not permanent which I will get into through the shrine system. It is inspired by the 2v8 class system.
Instead of dull and Hex Totems, there are Shrines that act as a replacement on the map. There are a maximum of 3 shrines. Each shrine will be based on the map itself, and the shrine will be dedicated to the entity or to the survivors who have died before that team.
Each shrine is preset from the start of the match, and is random per match. One match you can have a shrine for resetting pallets, the other two can be for de-buff effect removal, or healing. The next game match you can have none of those forcing you to change your play style consistently much like Chaos Shuffle.
Survivor Gameplay loop: 5 Gens or 3 Shrines and escape through the exit gates. Killer Gameplay Loop: all the survivors are dead.
Essentially it's a best 2 out of 3.
The Shrine of Sacrifice:
- Skyhooks (For the killer), (Remove one hook state for the survivors who are alive once per match.) There are less hooks on the map, but there is a shrine dedicated to skyhooks which can be captured by the killer so it's easier for them. So the killer will be able to skyhook in this game mode.
- If the survivor team captures the shrine the entire living team removes one hook state once per match.
The Shrine of Endurance:
- Survivors have a percentage reduction for exhaustion perks. Killers gain reduced stun and blindness times.
- For the sake of survivors 20 percent reduction for exhaustion perks.
- For the sake of the Killer it's 40 percent reduction for blindness and stun times.
The Shrine of Resilience:
- Survivors have a chance once per gauntlet to revive 1 random dead team member once per match, their hook state will be at a permanent struggle hook for the remaining duration of the match so it's not to daunting for either side.
- For the Killer (because I don't want them feeling left out) The killer side on hooking a survivor they gain 8% haste for 30 seconds, survivors gain 20 seconds of exposed when another survivor is hooked.)
The Shrine of Divination:
- Survivors can see when the killer damages a generator; breaks a pallet, or hooks a survivor. The killers aura is revealed for 8 seconds.
- For the Killer, on hooking a survivor or breaking a generator they gain 15 seconds of undetectable and can see survivors within 24 meters of the killer for 8 seconds.
The Shrine of the Hunt:
- While survivors control this shrine they can reset pallets with a cooldown of 10 seconds per pallet. Broken pallets can be remade within 10 seconds. For Window vaults, they have 50% haste when vaulting a window or vault point with a exhaustion of 30 seconds.
- For the killer whenever they; injure a survivor or hook a survivor, other survivors in the area gain 5 % hindered for 10 seconds, and if they slide over a pallet it's broken or vault a window it's blocked after 2 vaults for 30 seconds.
The Shrine of Chaos & Order:
- While this shrine is active for survivors, there is a bonus to repair speed of generators. 3% per survivor that is currently alive while they work on the same generator. If it's a solo survivor working on a generator it's 3% faster as they are solo. This is additive to any prior existing effects they have i.e. toolboxes, or class specific perks.
- While this shrine is active for the killer, they break generators 40% faster, break pallets 30% faster, and vault vault points 15% faster.
The Shrine of Vitae and Decay:
- When survivors have control of this shrine, they can heal survivors 50 percent faster, and remove health related debuffs (Hemhorrage/Mangled) when in proximity to another survivor 20 % faster. Other survivors can also pause the hook progression for 20 seconds if they are the medic class.
- When the killer has control of the shrine, when a survivor is unhooked, the unhooking survivor gains broken for 80 seconds. Hook progression acts similar to Monstrous Shrine allowing hook progression to be 15% faster instead of 20%.
SHRINE CAPTURING
The sound of the Hex totem breaking can be used to signify that a shrine has been captured.
Survivors can capture shrines as a group or solo. Capture time takes 120 seconds solo. The capture time reduces by 15 seconds per survivor working to capture the shrine. Progression for shrine capture degrades over time if uncompleted like trying to restore a regressing generator.
Killer capture times are 45 seconds.
Killer Change up between maps.
Just as survivors can change between maps, the killer should be able to pick between killers within an available pool much like 2v8. Even allowing a trial period for new killers that get announced to wet the players curiosity.
The key thing is this is largely a group situation, it can be solo queue friendly or swf friendly. If someone like a survivor leaves or disconnects a bot takes their place for the remainder of the match and a new survivor is added to the queue once the match ends.
If the killer leaves then that match ends with a victory for the survivors, and a new killer can be introduced. This allows for multi queueing. So if you are a killer trying to play, you can queue up for traditional, and have an option to play survivor in the meantime or play this Gauntlet game mode for however long.
