Hook Spawn Density & Distribution
After playing my last games, hook placement feels significantly denser than it did in previous versions of Dead by Daylight. While I understand the intention is likely to reduce hook dead zones and discourage excessive slugging, the current density has made hook sabotage strategies far less impactful.
At the moment, many maps contain hooks that are placed extremely close to one another. Even if a Survivor successfully sabotages a hook, the Killer can often reach another hook within only a few seconds. This greatly reduces the value of sabotage-oriented builds and makes coordinated sabotage plays feel unrewarding.
A few concerns:
Hooks often spawn too close together, especially around central tiles and main structures.
Sabotaging one hook rarely forces the Killer to change their route because another hook is almost always nearby.
Dedicated sabotage builds, even with toolboxes or the Saboteur perk, struggle to create meaningful hook denial.
The risk of running a sabotage build is high, but the reward has become minimal due to the current hook spacing.
My Suggestions:
Reduce the total number of hooks on most maps.
Increase the minimum distance between hooks so sabotaging one creates a meaningful temporary dead zone.
Review hook placement individually for each map instead of relying solely on procedural generation.
Keep enough hooks to prevent abuse, but restore meaningful counterplay for sabotage-focused survivors.
Dead by Daylight has always been at its best when multiple playstyles are viable. Right now, sabotage builds feel considerably weaker because hook placement leaves almost no opportunity to capitalize on a successful sabotage. Increasing the spacing between hooks and slightly reducing overall hook density would make this playstyle rewarding again without removing the Killer's ability to secure hooks, thx in advance.
