Proposed Skillcheck mechanic rework:

as we know skillchecks are currently the most RNG affecting factor in a match- with the amount of perks that affect skillchecks on both the killer and survivor, skillchecks need some sort of uniformity throughout the game.

Currently, skillchecks have an 8% chance to trigger every second on a generator- this equates to approx 7.2 skillchecks per generator. (Roughly 1 skillcheck every 12.5s, although 2-3 or even 12+ can be common).

So this raises a question: How can we remove the RNG factor without changing the mechanic as a whole?

Solution 1 (Easy Fix):

Cap skillchecks so only 1 can appear every 12.5 seconds (but make it random between 0-12.5s to prevent predicting when exactly its going to appear). Skillchecks would still feel RNG when repairing but there would always be exactly 7 per gen so it would be easier to balance perks around.

for perks/addons that increase the chance skillchecks, rework them so they instead reduce the 12.5s timer down by 1-2s depending on perk/addon

Solution 2 (Technical):

Every survivor has a unique Hidden 15s timer linked to them. this timer is always ticking down from 15s - 0s. when the timer hits (and if the survivor is performing an interaction), a skillcheck appears and it resets back to 15s for that unique survivor.

to prevent predicting when the skillcheck appears, the timer is randomly set anywhere between 0-15s at the start of the game. also, no 2 survivor will ever start with the same number to prevent synced skillchecks between survivors. the timer would always go down even when not performing actions. perks that increase skillcheck chance would reduce the 15s timer and anything decreasing chance of skill checks would increase timer.

with either of these changes, skillchecks will turn from dice rolls to something that yous actually have control over with knowing the amount that would appear.

while were at it, maybe even some new forms of skillchecks?

currently we just have circle skillchecks but new forms of them (like entering up down left right) or skillchecks that look like a straight line with a red pin bouncing left-right and you gotta hit as middle as possible? idk im sure yous can think of alot of potential skill check variations instead of the same boring O ones.
