Obsession Characters (Killers / Survivors Idea)

I had an idea for an Obsession x Dead by Daylight collaboration that I think could fit the game's horror themes surprisingly well.

New Chapter: Obsession

A new Killer emerges from the Fog: The Obsessed.

Three new Survivors stand against her:

• Bear Thompson
• Ian Mercer
• Sarah Delacroix

A single twisted wish shattered reality, dragging them all into the Entity's Realm.

Killer: The Obsessed

Real Name: Nikki Freeman

Once a compassionate young woman, Nikki Freeman longed only to be loved. But after making a desperate wish beneath the mysterious One Wish Willow, her affection twisted into an all-consuming obsession. As reality bent around her unraveling mind, the Entity embraced her insatiable devotion, forging a Killer driven by possessive love.

Killer Power: Devouring Affection

The Obsessed feeds on emotional proximity, slowly overwhelming Survivors with her unnatural fixation.

Survivors build Affection by remaining within her Terror Radius or by being struck by her attacks. Affection progresses through three stages.

Affection I – Infatuation

The Obsessed's presence begins to invade the Survivor's thoughts.

• Grunts of pain are increased by 50%.
• Their aura is briefly revealed at periodic intervals.

Affection II – Fixation

Her influence clouds judgment and slows reactions.

• Skill Check success zones are reduced.
• Vaulting speed is reduced.
• Scratch Marks remain visible longer.

Affection III – Obsession

Applied by her Special Attack: Love's Embrace.

The Survivor becomes the center of Nikki's twisted affection.

Effects:

• Suffers Oblivious.
• Suffers Exhausted.
• Their aura is revealed briefly after performing rushed actions.
• The Obsessed gains a short Haste effect while pursuing them.

Only one Survivor can suffer from Affection III at any time.

Special Attack: Love's Embrace

The Obsessed lunges forward with desperate determination.

A successful hit upgrades the target to Affection III.

If the target is already the Killer's Obsession, they also suffer the Broken Status Effect for a short duration.

Special Interaction: Willow's Whisper

Fragments of the One Wish Willow appear throughout the Trial.

The Obsessed can interact with these fragments to briefly reveal the auras of every Survivor currently affected by Affection.

Killer Perks

Love You More

Your fixation fuels your relentless pursuit.

• Gain Haste while chasing your Obsession.
• Successfully hitting your Obsession inflicts Blindness.
• After sacrificing your Obsession, all remaining Survivors suffer Exhausted for a short duration.

Unsettling Devotion

Your presence poisons any sense of comfort.

• Survivors heal slower while inside your Terror Radius.
• Survivors who complete a healing action inside your Terror Radius scream, revealing their location.

Stay With Me

You refuse to let anyone escape your grasp.

• Survivors who perform rushed actions within your Terror Radius suffer Oblivious for a short duration.
• This perk tracks each Survivor individually.

Survivor: Bear Thompson

Gentle and anxious, Bear's overwhelming guilt made him vulnerable to the Willow's curse. Though fear still follows him, his determination to protect others keeps him moving forward.

Second Thoughts

Your caution keeps you alive.

• After remaining in a chase for a short duration, gain Endurance for a brief time.

Guilt Spiral

Fear sharpens your instincts.

• Whenever another Survivor nearby becomes injured, briefly see the Killer's aura.
• If the Killer is close, gain a short burst of movement speed.

Break the Wish

You've learned to resist supernatural influence.

• Cleansing Totems grants a temporary Action Speed bonus.
• Cleansing a Hex Totem also grants Endurance for a short duration.

Survivor: Ian Mercer

Difficulty: Intermediate

Calm and observant, Ian was the first to recognize Nikki's disturbing transformation. His sharp instincts continue to guide others through the Fog.

Something's Off

Your instincts rarely fail.

• Receive a directional warning when the Killer is nearby.
• Afterwards, your footsteps become silent for a short duration.

Grounded

Staying focused gives you an edge.

• Skill Checks appear more frequently while repairing generators.
• Each Great Skill Check grants additional repair progress.

Voice of Reason

You help others stay calm under pressure.

• Cooperative actions are completed faster.
• When the Killer approaches, you and the Survivor you're assisting briefly gain Endurance.

Survivor: Sarah Delacroix

Empathetic and fiercely protective, Sarah desperately tried to save Nikki before realizing the truth. Now, her emotional intuition helps her uncover dangers others cannot see.

Empathic Pulse

You instinctively sense the suffering of others.

• Injured Survivors' auras are revealed to you.
• Healing those Survivors is faster for both of you.

Stand Your Ground

You refuse to abandon those in danger.

• When a Survivor is downed nearby, gain Haste for a short duration.
• Successfully taking a Protection Hit grants Endurance.

Not Yourself

You recognize when something isn't right.

• Whenever the Killer activates their Power, briefly reveal their aura.
• While within the Killer's Terror Radius, your Scratch Marks disappear intermittently.

Closing Thoughts

I think Obsession would fit naturally into Dead by Daylight's psychological horror style. Rather than relying on brute force, The Obsessed pressures Survivors through escalating psychological effects, rewarding prolonged chases and forcing players to carefully manage proximity before her affection reaches its breaking point.

The chapter's story centers around unhealthy attachment, guilt, and supernatural corruption—themes that align well with the Entity's Realm while introducing a unique Killer mechanic built around obsession instead of pure lethality.
