The Mad Designer (potential killer?)
Well, it is the 10th anniversary of Dead by Daylight and I can’t help but think about a character I feel has potential to be in the game instead of being thrown away and lost to time. That being Tryks, so let’s talk about her!
I am pretty sure it had been said by the devs that they had no plans to make her a killer in the game but I have come to hope that maybe that decision could be persuaded if we try because I think Tryks has potential, that being lots of voice lines from the event, all the lore surrounding her, and having an actual in-game model. (they have decided to make Frank Stone a future killer instead of a mask for trapper which I am excited for, and Chucky is in the game when it was said before that he could not be added because he is very short).
So considering those two moments, we know that the devs could change their minds on things later if we show that we really want something!
And I would be pretty bummed out for all the stuff we got involving Tryks to never be experienced again or forgotten for a new event so I propose the idea of Tryks being a killer sometime in the future!
After all, most of the ground work has essentially already been done because a lot of her power design could already be based on the old masquerade anniversary event game mode, she already has an in-game model, and she already has a voice actor. She could also have new voice lines since she is directly participating in the trials.
Of course, to make her power a little more fun than slapping the event game mode as her power and it also just being “RNG go brr”, I thought of a few ideas to include to also give her a power. (also her potential for skins would be insane).
For starters, there are five new things involving the mechanics of the masquerade.
— Perks involving a stun condition no longer take effect against party pallets
— Survivors need to get invitations to repeatedly regain charges instead of a passive increase
— Tryks needs to get an invitation to hit the maximum of two charges but her first passively comes back every 20.8 seconds and she normally sees invitations within 16 meter of her
— The modifiers no longer have a set amount of times they flip in a trial and are now unlimited and every time one ends there is a 10.8 second interval before another modifier is triggered (the modifiers are part of an ability named “Tryk Deck”, you’ll know why later)
— Instead of the killer being able to use an invitation charge for gaining endurance, they have a new ability named “Tryk Bag”
Now onto the power explanation!
Tryk bag: Tryks has the ability to summon a bag containing masks that that have a cooldown of 4.8 seconds before she can throw another.
Note that you cannot put a mask on a survivor until their current one withers away after 80 seconds, the survivor has removed it themselves, or if the mask had been destroyed after a hook.
Tryks will sound a global warning upon throwing the mask and she gains control of it to be able to curve around structures (like pinhead’s chain). When colliding with the survivor, the mask is placed over the survivor’s face, giving them the blindness status and Tryks can see the mask aura through walls when within 16 meters and the survivor sees the aura of invitations from 16 meters away.
Tryks will also gain one of the two options at random for attaching a mask onto a healthy survivor’s face and is given 4.8 seconds to confirm the option.
Connection: Pull
or
Connection: Push
Pull will allow Tryks to teleport the survivor’s soul/body to her and deliver an injury and push will allow her to push her soul/body to the survivor, teleporting herself next to the survivor to injure them. Both do have the same end result but change the flow of gameplay depending on where Tryks or the survivor is on the map.
There is another rng factor to this as well. Every time Tryks has an 8% chance to summon the scorched mask, influence by the entity. Using the mask has a longer wind up time and when it is attached to the survivor they will be hit and downed by Tryks and Tryks can choose when hooking the survivor if she wants to trade that survivor’s hook state for another survivor at random. The chance of pulling the mask goes up by an additional 8% each time to place a mask on a survivor and it resets upon obtaining it. (you could potentially pull the mask on 8% in a trial but you can never pull it at 8% again for the entire trial).
Tryk Deck: Tryks has 8 tokens to use and throw Tryk cards at pallets, windows, invitations, lockers, and generators that can only travel up to 18 meters and when thrown on an object, it takes 4 seconds before it becomes active. These cards function as traps and mobility options and there can only be up to a maximum of 8 but you regain a charge for each one that is no longer on an object. You can teleport to anything affected by Tryk cards from wherever and if the survivor does an action affected by a Tryk card will face a fiery explosion resulting in the loss of a health state.
Survivors can remove Tryk cards from objects by not having a mask on. Survivors can also see the effects of objects affected by Tryk cards from 16 meters without a mask. If they have a mask on then they can only see it from 8 meters away but they cannot remove it.
Every 2 unique hooks, Tryks is able to freely flip past at least one modifier or even skip the 10.8 second interval between modifiers. She can also use an invitation charge to flip past a modifier as well or use 2 to shuffle the deck.
When Tryks flips past a modifier there is a 8% stackable chance she will flip past two and it will reset upon the trigger or shuffling the deck.
When Tryks shuffles the deck there is a stackable 8% chance that 2 modifiers activate and it also resets upon the trigger.
And that is all for my idea of Tryks being a future killer in DBD. I went with a bit of a trap/mobility hybrid with some range (we have very little trap killers as is so I think Tryks could be a good trap killer to have alongside the masquerade mechanics).
This definitely could have been explained in a more summarized way if I didn’t really go into detail or add number values/deeply explained how everything mechnically worked but I felt like doing it anyway to show how much I would actually like Tryks to be a playable character on the killer role.
I’m curious what anyone else thinks of Tryks coming back to have her own spotlight and I hope a Dead by Daylight dev comes across this and MAYBE just MAYBE gives me some hope to see her as a killer in the future.

I would LOVE for her to return.
